a lot of angst over a pick outside the top 100.

all i see are people that do not process emotions very well.

IMHO, he is nothing but at best an average QB. if he was Elite, he would already been able to cease things in SF. so at best he is an average player. and everyone on this board cries about not having an elite QB and esentially pre-requisite for this team to be able to compete. so lets give him a try, to reach averageness and end up with same results? for the position everyone says is the most important position on a team?

SF screwed up. but you know what they called it sunk cost and moved on. we tend to just hold on, just in case, maybe just a chance for it to work out. we do that with all our players.

we are idiots. all you have to do is look at the results. you think anyone but an idiot could achieve being one of the worst performing post season teams in league history in the past 30 years?. it takes a special kind of idiot.
He is not even close to being an average QB. He is a 3rd string QB confirmed by both SF and Dallas last year.

He was granted an opportunity to compete for the 2nd string job this year. Meaning he did not show anything last year to take it from Rush.

Media is talking more about Dallas being a sleeper to trade up for a QB in round 1, than they are talking about Trance.

Yeah I have heard zero on how Lance has looked. Where did that report come from that said he looked terrible?
There is not report of him looking good or bad. Rush ran the scout team.

Usually 3rd string runs the scout team.

What does that tell you???

If he doesn't post a reply I suppose it's nonsense. The worst critique he had received prior to this supposed report was MM calling him "a little green."

Jerry has spoken loud and clear. Dak is going to remain his franchise QB for years to come!

Get it?

Why do you think we haven't negotiated yet? I don't understand the advantage to waiting until camp. The ONLY logic I can think of is them wanting to see Lance before making a final decision.

there are a lot of people crying about having an elite QB. many many many say we need to draft, go chase that elusive Elite QB.

and what is elite money? people are going to say Dak wanting 60M, but that's an assumption on their part with angers towards Dak. please don't confuse the 60M cap hit with being paid elite Money. I know you know better than that.

right now there are 12 QBs making 40M and more. is that elite money? by whose definition? fans tend to set their own standards of what is elite and what's not.

and I don't disagree that Troy hasn't played out. but my whole point is what do you realistically expect? if he had elite ability then that would already surface. it hasn't. most probably won't (I gave it a 10% chance).
so we end up with another average QB. what result do you expect to get with an average QB that we already haven't seen?
if we decide to keep him he will cost 25M in 2025. no chump change. and people now of course arguing we can get so many FAs and build a team. and none of them has shown me one FA we could have wanted and not being able to sign them (its a choice, not a constraint, although in 2024 I agree we are constraint because we are trying to move on from Dak).
The only expectation i have as that we roll through players...lance would just be one we either roll through or keep. No position gets a free pass for years n years.
If lance aint it....next. theres been worse....way worse ...busts before.
Acting like this one is criminal is pure insanity.

I've always taken exception to this quote and here is why. There are several notable exceptions to the so called rule.

1) If I hit a brick wall with a pick ax in exactly the same spot with exactly the same force over and over I will eventually break through that brick wall.

2) If I aim enough water at a structure that structure will eventually collapse. It doesn't even have to be a powerful stream of water. It can just be enough to cause corrosion. Add in a little sea salt and the structure doesn't stand a chance. Eventually it WILL succumb.

All of this is to say that pecking away at a problem is a perfectly legitimate approach. Provided of course one has the time and patience to wait for the eventual outcome. The problem with most fans is lack that patience so we want immediate results and if we don't see them we attack the team, the front office or the players, the trainers, the team doctors even the cheerleaders for not giving us what we want.

I am in no way defending the Joneses or the Cowboys or Dak or anybody else on or associated with the team. Just trying to offer a little different perspective. I have been fortunate enough to seen all of the Cowboys' championship runs as well as the near misses. I gotta admit that these early playoff exits hurt way less than the Super Bowl or NFC Championship game losses. If we aint gonna win the damn thing then I think I'd rather we just give a good accounting of ourselves and bow out in the divisional round. I don't know that my heart could take another Super Bowl loss at my age!! To say nothing of a heartbreaking last minute NFC Championship game loss which sends one of our hated rivals to the Big Dance? No thank you..
But that’s not what the proverb means. The implication is the opposite: you’re getting the same results over and over again by doing the same thing. You don’t get the same results if you keep pounding on a brick wall with force or spray something with a huge force of water: you chip away until the goal is reached because you see that continuous progress will eventually get you there.

Critics of Dak don’t see any progress. He’s still mostly average to bad in the playoffs. It’s the same with JJ as a GM.

Nope. Jerry is trying to get Dak to agree to a lengthier contract, a discount and possibly take the 'no trade' clause off. It takes time to negotiate such things. Regardless, Jerry knows he has a better team with a proven All Pro QB than an unproven younger QB with lots of questions and likely not going to stick around after this year.

So the reports that we haven't begun to negotiate are lies being fed by the front office and Daks agent? That seems far fetched and I can't imagine both sides agreeing to the lie.

Of course the team has a better chance with an established qb, but if they aren't going to build around him I don't see the point in paying him again. There have been almost no efforts to improve on last year.

I am actually glad to hear this because I have long thought Rush was best suited to run scout teams. That’s his niche.
