They could’ve drafted a LT and I would’ve been fine with it if they dropped Dak.

If they announced Lance as the Week 1 starter then I’m okay with an LT in the first.

I’ve watched Dak, and Romo before him, waste elite O-Lines year after year. I don’t want to see that movie again. Let another guy have a try now.

Move. On.
"Move. On." lol. No.

You wanted Prescott gone before the pick. It did not happen.

You're wanting a first day starter announcement is a pipe dream. This is Dallas. The franchise's owner/GM swore for months veteran Tony Banks would start and play the entire season--only to get cut before the regular season began in favor of Quincy Carter. *BOOM!*

It is extremely likely you will end up watching the movie you do not want to see again unless Prescott is out of the picture. Perhaps you should consider having a face-to-face conversation with 'All In Guy' over the possibility of that not happening in 2024. Otherwise, get ready for more

Something tells me this would be page 17 of a post bashing the pick no matter if it was Guyton, a defensive tackle, a corner, or anyone.

Some people just aren't happy unless they let everyone know they aren't happy. We're predicting Guyton's value before he even puts on a helmet.

That doesn't exactly explain diminishing the importance of a LT/blindside tackle.

Let me go on record as saying that 100% of what Mountaineer Cowboy is posting here is legitimate - I would go as far as correct. Many of you are missing his larger point which is that drafting OL to the detriment of every other position - including QB - hasn't helped us move the needle toward advancing past the divisional round, or even getting to the divisional round. The Chiefs who just won the last Super Bowl - do you know how many of their OL were drafted in the 1st round? None. Zero. Zilch. Three of them were picked in the 2nd round, one in the third round, and another in the 6th round. For some reason, this team seems incapable of drafting OL beyond the first round and to Mountaineer's point it hasn't worked. I would have been thrilled last night if we selected the DT Newton. I am not saying that Guyton is a bust pick - too early to tell and he will likely turn out fine. But having the best OL and RB and WR won't help when they will be spending most of their time watching the game from the sidelines because the best teams will be curb stomping our defense to the tune of 200+ yards rushing. For 20+ years I have watch in frustration while this team ignores the middle of the defense: DT, middle LB, and Safety - thinking we can fill these positions with picks after the 4th round or other team's JAGs. Then we wonder why we can't stop the best teams when it matters.
You’re arguing a different point than he is….he doesn’t have a point. What you’re saying makes sense just don’t agree.

Using your argument you could say the same thing about DT…how many first round DTs do the Chiefs have? Or first round linebackers?

Anyone who knows anything about football knows how a team is built: QB, LT, pass rusher, cover corner. Then everything else.

What's even more surprising is the person posting lives off an anti-Dak agenda. Well, even if he gets his wish and Dallas gets a new QB in 2025, why not protect the new guy his heart bleeds 24-7 for?

Yup, and maybe NT after cover corner (depending on the style of defence). And exactly what I was trying to say. It's like he expects the QB to be some ghost that pass rushers just go through. This is the NFL. Not protecting your QB's blindside gets him sent to IR and ends your season.

If I cared about being taken seriously on a Cowboys message board I’d fall in line like the rest of ya.
Is that an admission of trolling? You’ve just posted some bombastic opinions and when people engage you and ask for your *actual* opinion, your only response is sarcasm.

So, out of the blue, you suggest the Cowboys should have traded up from 29 to 8 so that we could pick Penix, McCarthy or Nix.

That’s a trade value of 650 compared to 1400.

That’s our first and third this this year, and our first in 2025.

Your argument; therefore, explicitly implies that you think Penix/McCarthy/Nix are worth two firsts and a third and that one of them has the potential to win a Super Bowl.

You should have just said so.

But then again, that would only make sense if you were in interested in being …
taken seriously on a Cowboys message board
which you clearly are not.

The only time in the past couple of months where you’ve seemed sincere is when you advocated for a rebuild, including no Dak extension and no costly rental free agents. I guess that was just a slip and you’re back to mocking the regulars and just spraying napalm everywhwere.

Chiefs also have Mahomes.

Won't make any difference. If that qb doesn't win the SB, then he'll complain about him. And the next, and the next, etc. It'll always be the qb's fault.

Good breakdown. One reason why I dislike the OP's all-inclusive premise (applying the judgment upon Guyton's selection) is that it makes Jerry Jones decision-making look good.
