News: Trevor Lawrence and the Jags have agreed to a 5-year, $275M extension

Except Dak has been surrounded by MASSIVE amounts of talent to help him look better.

Last year Dak had 3 All-Pro linemen, another one that was a Pro Bowler, and an All-Pro WR.

The year before he had a Pro Bowl TE and RB.

Dak has had an absolutely ideal situation for Years, and he’s done jack squat with it when it mattered most.

If Dak started his career in Jacksonville, he would have been out of the league years ago.
You are correct. A few talking heads have mentioned this about Dak and the situation he fell into. Nobody likes to talk about that however, doesn't fit narrative.

TL has not really proven himself yet but still the Brinks truck has made another stop.
QB money is just insane

To be clear here TL is a national championship winning QB that is 24. Thought of as one of the best QB prospects in years. Our guy is 31 and has demonstrated expertise in choking during big games. To suggest Dak should get paid anywhere near this is pure stupidity.
What the hell does a college national championship have to do with a contract that he just got in the NFL?

This is hilarious. Anyone who thinks Dak is loyal to anything but himself is in for a very rude awakening. Dak is going to follow the money and nothing else.
As he and every other professional should. That’s why it was an “if” statement. He would be foolish to resign instead of becoming a free agent even if he wants to stay in Dallas.

Unbelievable college career. Beat a Saban team to win a national championship as a teenager. First team all pro 2 years ago. Played hurt much of last year. 24 years old. Why do you think he can’t get to a SB? What a silly take.
Because I think he’s a middle of the pack QB who makes bad decisions under pressure. Maybe he will prove me wrong, but like most starting QBs, he is not worth anything close to that price, but most starting QBs will continue to get 50 million per or more as they resign. The only way to avoid paying that is to move on and hope you get lucky.

Yea, tgis is crazy. He hasn't lived up to the hype. Why not just let him play out this season?

It says that he at least has the ability to be a phenomenal championship winning QB.

Something that Dak has NEVER done or shown the ability to do on any level.

Didn't the eagles resign Carson Wentz with two years left on his deal?
Contract extensions are just that. They start when the current contract expires. Signing Lawrence now gives the Jaguars time to manage the cap more efficiently. It’s what many NFL teams do.

All I have read is that his failures are ridden with excuses. Not sure this is the guy I want to give up the farm to, but the Jags don't have a choice

So...are we all on board that anti-pay posters are relying on hope(to draft a good QB), taking advantage of cheap wages(rookie contracts) when they wouldnt want that done to them...and last but not least...willing to let their Brock Purdy walk because they dont like market prices and will risk their plush paying GM job to stand up to market prices lol.

Risk their nice job...because they are trailblazers that have no emotional ties to their rookie contract QB who just balled out but never won a Super Bowl after 4 years...just let the guy walk and HOPE on another QB draft pick working out because you dont agree with market prices.

It all makes so much sense lol

So easy to talk about others jobs and what they should do but not have to put your foot in their shoes.

This board...its more comedy than anything anymore. It doesnt even make sense haha. Every anti-pay posters seems to want to conveniently leap frog talking about what they would do if the pressure was on them...and then downplay said pressures that hardly get talked about around here lol.

These guys would put a 1995 honda accord engine into a Veyron if it meant saving them a penny and then lean into "I still get the same looks while stopped at a stop light" excuse.

Look im no fan of Dak, but no way in hell would I take less than Lawrence if I was Dak. Lawrence is entering his fourth season, what he did in college and all that "potential " means nothing, it's time to start producing. Lawrence was bad last season, and absolutely choked that last game against the Titans away where he overthrew receivers several times, he cost them a playoff spot last season

I think you missed the point. That contract extension worked out really bad for the eagles. They should have waited.

Dak getting paid by the Giants for sure. Dallas will get 4 win seasons for the next 5-6 years as the reward. Well deserved for this fan base. Love the team... done with the fans
Get off your lawn! Grumble grumble..

For some reason he heavily regressed last year.

Even with the addition of Calvin Ridley.

He looks like JAG at the QB position.

In the three years that Lawrence has been a Jaguar, only one offensive teammate has been a Pro Bowler and only for one season. That is TE Engrams.

The 2023 season was Lawrence's 3rd, There was only one offensive starter left from 2021, Lawrence's rookie season. That was LT Cam Robinson.

Lawrence was the 1st overall pick in the draft, obviously a target rich spot for Super Bowl quarterbacks.

In Lawrence's first season, the Jags were ranked 32nd scoring offense. The previous season, they were ranked 30th. Lawrence took them to 10th scoring offense.

Lawrence should have a long career and is worth the contract.
