Tolbert = Cobb/Beasley

Pump your breaks. Tolbert isn't a Cobb. He's not even a Terry Glenn RIP.

42 catches 6 TD’s this year he’s never going to be the outside burner wasn’t drafted for that never was . He’s the outlet that can stretch the chains has become more and more reliable and has a knack for finding the end zone for his QB . Every club needs this type of receiver , the Randall Cobb / Cole Beasley type .

He’s only in yr 3 when his rookie yr went by with Dak hardly finding him .

Look forward for more development next yr the last yr of his rookie contract . Very nice TD grab back of the end zone feet in bounds tonight .
Nah I disagree Cobb and Beasley were far more reliable and open.

.....but he seems to getting better results with Rush. Honest question, can some of this improvement be attributed to a QB that can go through a progression. Is that on Mike or Dak?
Rush and Tolbert are backups...they spend a lot of time together....running scout team and second team reps.

Guys in his third year in an inconsistent offense .

Cobb was with Rodgers in his prime and Beasley was with some potent Cowboy offenses .
You compared him to them not me. I see no signs of him being as good as them even in his 10th year. He’s just a guy based on what I’ve seen thus far. I can’t tell the difference between him or any of the 7th rounder receivers we have or the undrafted.

You must not be watching the same player . Reliable end zone target can get you the 1st down. My point with Cobb & Beasley they had the advantage of superior QB play and potent offense .

Tolbert had a nice PFF grade against Tampa , topped the offense . Has a knack for finding the end zone . Can be a solid stretch the chains 3 while Turpin can burn a defense occasionally.

A third WR who is inconsistent, isn't physical, and doesn't play special teams doesn't seem that valuable to me.

But Jerry drafted him, so I'm sure he'll continue to get every opportunity.

Right . A guy who can consistently find the end zone in a red zone challenged team is not of value . Ok now .

Cobb 13 TD’s first three years

Beasley 11

Tolbert has 8 with two games left this year after zero his first season and 2 yr 2 . If you say Cobb & Beasley broke in with 16 game schedules then ok count only one more game this year for Tolbert .

Looking at NFL rosters the guy fulfills what you want out of a 3 . Stretch the chains and help your QB in the red Zone. Cobb had a HOF QB Slinging passes his way think that matters ….

I don’t want to belittle redzone touchdowns because it is an asset but we need a solid number two that’s a consistent chain mover. Tolbert is fine but fine can and should get upgraded if possible.

I said repeatedly he’s a complimentary receiver a 3 . First downs and TD’s keeps Tom Brady in the booth happy. Bet he could find Tolbert if he had him in that ever changing cast of receivers in NE they won with .

Fans need to look at the missiles delivery system if they are disenchanted not always the targets . Jerry traded for Mingo so far I’ve seen zero ….

The issue is Tolbert has been basically handed #1 WR snaps and has only put up #3 WR numbers. He has ran 508 routes this season which is 15th most in the league. Hes a guy that can certainly play in this league, but his success this year is more due to volume than actual talent. The league was bad about this 15+ years ago when everyone would celebrate 1000 yard rushers even if it took them 300 carries to get there. Tolbert still needs to take his game to another level before the Cowboys really consider him a viable #2 or even #3 option going into 2025 if they are serious about making a run.

I see no evidence of another 3 on this roster and a 2 has not yet arrived .
Agreed, but I don't think that means you just hand him a starting job as a #2 or #3 option going into 2025. A serious attempt to upgrade the WR position needs to happen this offseason and if Tolbert steps up his game and forces his way onto the field then good for him.
