Difference between how Dallas and Philly handle contracts

Nah, you said: They're also looking to trade Goedert or let him go, WE would choose to keep said player and hope and hope and hope he finally does something for us.

My point was about the part in bold. They signed the guy to a big deal and now want to unload him in the last year of the deal. Nobody is taking him, and the Eagles are gonna bite 11 million this season if he is or isnt on the team.
Which you're still going off about talking about Goddert, look at post #78, have a good nighit!

They have an out, and he has a dead cap hit of 11 million this year.
You said that like it's 100+million like we have for dak! I think if you do it after the draft or after june, you may be able to split the hit in half or something

What round was Bland drafted? How about Osa?

Dak?

None of them were in the first round, yet. Contracts expired before being negotiated with.
This thread is about Tyler Smith, who was a 1st round pick. Like I said, there is plenty to critique. Being slow to sign players is one of them. But complaining that they dont sign 1st round picks after their year is ignorant. 1st round picks rarely sign before their 4th year

Eagles Cam Jurgens

Dallas Tyler Smith

The Eagles have signed their Pro Bowl center to a deal before he gets to the end of his current one, and is likely saving significant money as compared to Dallas, who will pick up the 5th year option at more than what Jurgens will average on his deal....then wait for the 5th year to be over before negotiating a new deal, which will cost much more 2 years from now. It's pure idiocy and incompetence.
So go be an Eagles fan.

We will be having this same conversation in a year. It’s how Jones works. Always a step behind. Don’t you miss the days when we were ahead of the game?

The roster building philosophy couldn't be further apart from eachother. Not possible. The Osa thing for me was just a guess. I did not think they were going to pay him. I think the same with Bland. But who knows. It's never a good idea to wait for a contract to expire if you want to keep the player.
Yes but if that player is only one season from FA and if they’ve performed well to this point….which makes the team wish to retain them…isn’t it worth it just to wait it out and bet on yourself? Can insure for injury.

Sure they can be tagged but those numbers are big and offer no cap flex. Part of what I was saying earlier with the team getting screwed on the four year only thing, and the player getting beat when a first rounder.

The Eagles also seem to be better at saying "No!"

They are probably better at not placing themselves in the compromising position of zero leverage.

To be honest if I understand it correctly according to CBA teams cannot negotiate with rookies until after they've completed the third year

You're really struggling with this when we talk about other teams maybe it's just philly. I live in PA, born and raised, I'm around eagles fans allllllllllllll the time, they talk about my team, I talk about theirs. But in the end, we're allowed to call out things as we see it, a lot of us our fans, but a lot of us are also fans of the GAME! It just doesn't have to always be the Cowboys are great I love them they're everything I love and ever need! Man if Pat Mahomes, or Saquon end up making a good play for their team, why are we wrong for saying something good about it?
Nice post.... But where is this maturity when it comes to Parsons.

Ok ok since you gave me a compliment I guess I can change lol, when it comes to Micah as I've stated before on here I'm from Harrisburg born and raised, I'm going to be harder on him. I never said he was trash or doesn't belong here. I just don't see the hype that he gets because he's not consistent enough for my liking when there's a big play to be needed. Can he do things alone hell no, he realizes that and I respect him for it. He's able to say he has to Jerry to tell him we need help. Does Jerry listen so far I'm not sure!

Get him some big guys, fix the trenches and make his job easier!! Move him around, don't make it so easy for the offense to game plan against him, keep them guessing

I truly don’t understand why we haven’t signed Tyler and Parsons yet. Why this “deadlines make deals” crap. It’s a stupid game to play and we keep playing it. This FO makes it hard to be a fan sometimes. I feel it’s a Jerry Jones power trip to do this. Why do other teams sign their players proactively and we wait till the last, and most expensive, second to get it done. Makes no sense and it hasn’t produced a winning product on the field for 29 years.

Similar numbers but Goedert plays in a run heavy offense. Ferg had 911 routes ran for 1255 yards and got the last two season. Goedert had 662 for 1088. Goedert is more efficient on his receiving numbers, has proven to be more of a vertical threat on the defense, and is also a better blocker. I don't think Philly would say paying Goedert was a mistake at all, but it isnt uncommon at all for a team to look to move on from a player in the final year of their deal.
Not to mention playoff goedert is money. Top 5 when healthy. Hardly a mistake.

The other thing is we probably would’ve got Dak for 15 to 20,000,000 per year less if we had signed him before he had us over a barrel and he would be two years closer to being gone for those that hate him.

Parsons deal has probably gone up 5 to 10,000,000 per year just because we didn’t sign him at the beginning of free agency.

They also have Bland that is going to be due a bigger deal but they’ll wait till the last minute and the price goes up just like they’re gonna do with Smith.

I agree, it’s infuriating. Like I said the FO makes it difficult to be a fan of this team.

Not consistent enough when big plays are needed? Let me ask you this.. who do you think offensive coordinators game plan around when they need a big play. That is minimizing his impact with double and triple team. And what seem crazy about your thinking.... His peers and coaches have voted him to all pros in each of his first four years. But yet he's not good enough for you. Strange...

There's no we. It's they...

That would be a $10 billion NFL franchise with about 1200 employees and everyone who keeps criticizing Jerry, let me know how many billion your companies worth, and how you have it set up and then open up your books to us, and let us criticize you, if not then this stuff gets old seeing what the Eagles are doing I don't care what Washington's doing I don't care what the rest of the NFL is doing all I care about is we have 17 game football season coming up and that we're competitive and then after that it's out of our hands I'm just going to watch football....
LOL
