It’s only 2 years though. You’re paying close to a late 1st per season to rent him.

Like most I like this move. Wish it had happened sooner but it is what it is. Williams is at worst a top 5 DT in the league. His presence will do TONS to solidify our front. EzeE needs an offseason in the weight room and he is going to be a stud. Osa, Thomas and Clark mixing in with Williams suddenly all just became better players because someone will be commanding the opposing team's attention so they can go eat. Now the question is whether they will take advantage.

This pick is not for one year.

If it was, I would understand.

You are getting him for at least two years and that does not count extending him if they want or using the franchise tag.

This is the type of player most cowboys fans have been wanting for years. They have swung and missed at drafting Mazi and Trysten. Q Williams is not just good, he is Elite. Something this team has not had in years in the middle.

Cost is high, but it is because it is a damn good player and one that is arguably one of the best at his position.

I love this move. This is a type of movie that Jerry and Stephen have been afraid and too cheap to make in years.

You are entitled to your opinion, you can go on and not like the trade. But you should be happy. Getting a stud in the trenches.

I hated the Micah trade because I didn't want those picks wasted on another Mazi, Guyton, Taco, etc. I only thought it would be worth it if they drafted a QB...which I knew they wouldn't.

But this is absolutely worth it in my mind. Now they still have 3 1st rounders to make moves with and our DT spot it locked down for 3 more years. What's not to love?

They aren't blowing much up next season. You likely will need a

OFFENSE - WR2 (Pickens gone), RT

DEFENSE - DE, OLB (Wilson / Overshown), CB, S

Williams and WIlson are massive upgrades for this team.

Pickens isn't going anywhere.

I think the expectation for our defense is now reasonable high. Needs to go from last to middle of the pack. Kinda no excuses anymore..... Williams, Clowney, Ezeiruaku, possibly another DB, and getting Overshown back.

My expectation is they go from bad to decent in the 2nd half of the year.

Kenny Clark will almost certainly be restructured. 11M of his cap hit is a roster bonus which Dallas routinely flips.
Dallas may end up paying KC a 12M cap hit next year but they got him this year for 2M.

A lot may depend on how KC looks playing 30% of the snaps as a fresh back up.

But Dallas has plenty of cap cash to play with. They have about 25M with rollovers before restructuring a single soul.

Simple restructure takes Clark to 8-9M. Easy fit.

This trade undermines the Parsons trade a bit if we let Clark go in the offseason. A DT rotation of Williams, Clark, and Oh-I’m-Not-Spelling-Your-Last-Name-From-Memory is pretty solid.

To turn around and either cut Osa or Kenny weakens the depth.

I’m not really sure how I feel about it. It’s solid at first glance, but I hate giving up a first round pick in the future like that. Too many unknowns. We also don’t have a second or third this year, which is begging for a Jerry trade down. What happens if there is someone who can solidify the safety position for years with one of the picks and LBer with another? I don’t want to trade down and forgo that just to recoup the lost picks, which I think Jerry will feel is necessary. I understand trading down if there is true value or no one you are in love with.

This trade looks better with the emergence of Ezeiruaku the last several weeks. Now, if we can get one of the Kneeland/Williams to step up as well….

What's interesting is Osa and Quinnen Williams both play the 3 tech position. Williams excels as a 3 tech DT.
