Nakobe Dean Snub

The cowboys is a place you go when you want the national spotlight on you.
If you don't want that pressure its better you go hide in Vegas or another team that every national sport media outlet isn't covering all week.

Says more about Dean than it does the Cowboys..

He also had a history with Parker.
I never understood why people assume if a guy has worked with a player that meant he’d want to work with them again. Who’s to say he saw Nakobe and Blankenship and said those are guys who doesn’t want to work. Which btw, Parker coached the secondary.

No problem Jipper, I’m saying that we are about the same level now. Unfortunately.
Ahh yes I would concur unfortunately, we may have had a few more reg seasons in recent memory to write home about but were certainly at the bottom in terms of success and appeal

How is this a problem comprehend He probably has some loyalty to the team that drafted and developed him and essentially got him paid he doesn't want to play the Eagles twice a year This happens more regular than you think he chose to go to a team that's paying him about the same that's going to be completely out of the NFC conference and he gets to start over...

That's it that's all there is to it he doesn't want to play Eagles twice it's pretty apparent that was his reasoning it's not a snub against the Cowboys He doesn't want to play against his old team that often..
Exactly well said

Oh I never thought they were….when did you feel this way? I just always felt guys went to the team who paid them the most.

There are some who feel this way.

I do think it’s almost always the pay. I do think some teams with regular success and who are widely viewed as superbowl contender may get an edge up for players who want to win a ring.

But that’s not the cowboys unfortunately.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do agree Trying to outbid somebody just like they did with Crosby, you can't overpay for a guy like that.

They made a fair offer, He may may or may not have done us a favor, but I'm glad the Cowboys didn't up their bid.

I don't think he was coming here either way the Cowboys would have had to so overpay for him to not want to see the Eagles twice a year I mean we all know that's why he did it...

Hell,

I'm going to throw this in here even though it does go with this thread Quay walker was another target of the cowboys and they took both of them but after looking at all the free agent grades for linebackers Quay Walker it was OK he may have fit this scheme but there's some guys out there they're in the same zip code still available.

Okereke was Actually graded, barely buy a smidge, over Quay Walker..

I think this is why the Cowboys are in a holding pattern they know once they can get their target there are a lot of other guys that kind of fit in that same talent level that you can pick up at any time that can play the role veteran bridge for Who are they getting the draft but I think they're waiting for the draft although I'd go after BO If I were them just go and put them on the team I don't know what they're waiting on..
They’re waiting to see in they can get a sufficiently capable player for less. If a team does that enough it can go 30 years without ever playing in a Super Bowl.

We’ve said this for 4 years lol probably longer. This team isn’t getting much better based on cuts. Maybe trade.
Maybe we should stop living in the past and consider that something might work out—like if a player gets cut, the Cowboys pick him up, and he ends up being a great fit.

Trades are the same way; who cares as long as it’s a fair acquisition that makes the team better. Post-draft, trades are really the only option, and big moves can still happen late—Green Bay did it, bringing in key pieces just a week before the season started.

No one really saw that coming, adding an elite player right before kickoff. The same could happen for the Cowboys.

They could pick up someone like George Pickens or Q mid-season—it’s an ongoing process, not something that has to be wrapped up in the first two weeks of free agency. It’s an offseason, a whole new league year, not just an “off week,” and moves can be made all the way up to game one. Sometimes, like when they traded for Amari Cooper, one big move can turn a season around.

Sure, it’s been a while since Dallas has done something major, but people need to stop acting like all the talent is gone. The top-tier, overpriced free agents might be gone—that’s what happens in the “free agent frenzy”—but not all of them pan out anyway.

Dallas did try; they went after Crosby hard, offering what he was worth, while another team overpaid and then quickly backed out.

Maybe they didn’t think Henderson was a scheme fit, and that’s why they passed.

In the end, it’s not about the first couple of weeks—it’s about the full offseason. The Cowboys still have plenty of time to get it right.

Maybe we should stop living in the past? Tell the Cowboys to stop operating like it’s the past and maybe I’ll change how I operate.

"Cowboys in shambles.”

“Philly legend for life.”

Im just flabbergasted that he wouldn't want to play and learn under the most innovative defensive coordinator this league has seen in decades?
if you could name the raiders dc i'd jump off a bridge. for the life of me i don't know why you so desparately want to be tied to this moronic opinion

Guys. Relax. Its mid March. Lol. We still have the draft and June 1 cuts. We always see some really good players we never expected to be on the market come june1-2. Its the next wave of free agency essentially.
How far can a team get signing post-June 1st cuts? Let’s relax and compete with 30 other teams for players cast off by the team that knows them best. Then, of course, there’s post-June 13 when the UFL season is concluded. Cowboys have that going for them.

Wave after wave of talent available. I’m reminded of the 1976 movie “The Bad News Bears”. Except they almost won it all.

I didn’t say that.

So not sure why you took it that way.
Your response to why he chose the Raiders over the Cowboys is that the Cowboys are no longer a draw because they haven't sniffed a SB in his lifetime, and they only way that reasoning would make sense is if the Raiders have proven more successful over his lifetime. The reality is other than that Super Bowl appearance 24 years ago the Cowboys have been much more successful than the Raiders during his lifetime. The Raiders have been about as low over that time period as anyone except Cleveland.

Like I said, I'm waiting till August ,that's when we'll see if they had a plan, and how they are trying to deliver a plan,

it's way early way way too early IMHO

so, there you go it's not the same, they try to offer Crosby, it failed, they gave a very fair offer to both Dean and Crosby,

They didn't land them, at least they went after them, and I'm not giving him credit for just trying, but I'm just telling you the truth.

they wanted to make Big Splash, that doesn't mean they turn around and now go after any player at any cost, they didn't have in mind just to satisfy the fan base, they will adjust, & counter as the rest of this offseason plays out, and that's why I'll wait till August,

we'll see what the real team might look like game one, when August gets here.

Looking at last season went for both SB teams, I don't think anybody had New England versus Seattle Super Bowl, I do not think anybody thought those teams would get turned around that quick, They were not favorites, They were not in the favorites once they got to the damn playoffs, but they showed everybody that was about the marathon, not the sprint.

I do get why we all have PTSD, but again I look at all these seasons differently, every year, you guys can live in the past, I say that every year's a one off, a week to week league, and I've settled on that, It may still take a while, I'm willing wait on that sixth championship because it will come, It might be unexpected, but it will come..

I mean I grew up watching the Mavericks and the Rangers in 90s look like the most horrible sports franchises on planet, it looked like they were never ever going to win, yeah they had a couple good years here and there, but they were never truly championship level, and they finally got one.

Yep, just one each, their entire existence, the Dallas Mavs and Texas Rangers, who by the way just only recently in 2023 got their first championship, finally figured it out!!!

the Cowboys are waiting on number six, and I also grew up since I was 10 years old following the Cowboys, so I've seen it all and I know anytime can jump up and BAM, it can happen.

Look at the three franchises, that I follow here outside the Cowboys: Mavericks, Rangers, Stars...

You know they only have THREE combined titles, together,

And the Cowboys are waiting on number 6, Jerrys waiting on number 4,

I put that into perspective as yes, drought bothers me, it sucks, I'm ready for a NFCCG appearance at the very least, we're all due, I get it, all frustrated, impatient, I get it,

but again every year I look at it, it could be our year, I'm not saying it is this year, I'm saying that can jump out of nowhere.

No your logic is flawed and you misread my posts.

I said that the cowboys are not a draw over the Raiders. That leaves them equal as far as being a “draw”. And thus they had no advantage in Dean choosing them over the Raiders.

I never said in any of my posts that the Raiders have an advantage over the cowboys in acquiring free agents.

There were some secondary players who spoke very highly of Parker, but you're right it doesn't mean everyone liked him.

More so the draw of playing with your old college teammate who you played like 30 something games with and won a national championship has a lot of appeal.

And the raiders have? When did I miss that
What do the Raiders have:
New competent GM
New competent HC
New QB who just won the College Football championship and won the Heisman

Thats called REAL HOPE

What do we have:
Moron of a GM with a 30 year record of proven incompetence
A HC that no one wanted and we promoted based on comfort and nepotism
A QB who has proven to be a disaster in the post season for 10 years

Thats called NO HOPE

Only an idiot thinks they’re both the same
