Is Tyler Smith playing tackle or guard in 2026?

From everything I've read the majority of what holds Guyton back is his heart/want to.

News on that front has been very positive this offseason.

Id wager he does enough to keep Smith at guard.

The team said that Thomas would be competing for the spot. Until that changes, I believe he is the next option over a fourth-round rookie.

This has been allowed to go on because of Jerry.

Jerry also passed on at least two players in the 2026 draft who would now be taking reps with the 1s at LT.

I’ve had my share of favorite players over the years.

Sometimes the team has to do what’s best for the team.

Im assuming you mean his lack of heart is "because Jerry" allows it?

We probably did pass on some LTs this draft, but we overhauled the defense.

Im not giving up on Guyton yet. Oline is one of the spots this team typically does very well. Hes got this year to make a case. I dont think any player has more pressure to perform this season.

I'm confused.......I thought this was settled. If this is STILL a question, it raises serious concerns they have about Guyton, IMO, not to mention he's competing with Thomas.

I don't know why this is so confusing For Y'all to understand he is the emergency left tackle that's it he will not move there permanently He is the starting left guard and he will remain there until he's needed They're gonna find out if Guyton or some of the other guys fighting for that position it could even be the rookie They're gonna go through the entire preseason games they're gonna play a lot of snaps and they're gonna find out what they have but I guarantee they're not making a permanent move to left tackle it won't happen for Tyler Smith he will remain the starting left guard that's what he wants I believe that's what the Cowboys want..

There's going to be an all out battle for both tackles positions although left tackle is going to be the one that's more open I think they're confident in Steel given his run game It's pretty solid it's actually really good so they just need to work a little bit more on his pass blocking..

Yeah we don't agree on a lot but that's true and he doesn't want to play there that's the second problem he will be the emergency left tackle as usual if there's injuries or if they're in a key game and somebody staining their pants over there. Don't make that move because they trust Bass just like they trust Hoffman it's not a big let down but it's not something you want to lean on on a regular basis..
