TRADED Porter traded to Cowboys (2027/6th round, 2028/2nd round)

I just don't get people arguing the value. To me it's another example of people who said ahead of time they didn't want to trade for him (and in some cases because the talk was for a 1st) and then stubbornly refuse to re-evaluate based on the actual trade. Now if the contract is the issue, I understand the argument, but i've seen that mentioned very little here

Jerry and co are the idiots. giving up a 2nd round pick for a guy who hasn't played at all this year and now has to learn a scheme that the current players on the team still are confused on, ain't gonna do much in the short term...

should've prioritized a pass rusher first....which we've needed since micah was tradedyeah, okay
...and the defense will still stink.

Need push rush
Thanks, Coach.

It’s good value; a 2028 2nd rounder plus this years 6th.

Much better value than Broderick Jones. And considering what we have up for Q, likely better value.

Hopefully they re-sign him. Him and Downs would be two good starters. Thompson seems solid. If Revel can develop, that’s the makings of a good secondary. Up front, we need Lawrence to be hit. And hopefully Eze develops. That would go a long way in shoring up front.

We have a pair fraternity fantasy footballers named Jones running this thing.

This is the 31st straight ship they’ve built that is likely headed for the same iceberg. Imagine giving the architect of the Titanic 31 attempts to get a ship right.

It’s the definition of insanity.
There was nothing wrong with the Titanic. It was the navigator who screwed up. What do I mean by that?...I have no idea. It just seemed like a good thing to say.

His skills are naturally suited for press coverage because he’s big and physical.

His entire career he’s been playing in Tomlin’s Tampa 2 defense which is a zone.

The main tweak that Tomlin made was that he let Porter play at the line of scrimmage. It was “press zone” coverage but was still a zone with but sork man coverage mixed in, especially when the offense had an elite WR1 like Chase. This allowed Porter to be physical with receivers and jam them

Parker’s (and Fangio’s) defense typically has the CB line up with a bit of cushion and requires the CB to make reads post snaps. We’ll see if Parker tweaks his base scheme to take advantage of Porters specific skills.

He didn’t let Bland play press but Bland kinda sucks now. He might reconsider a bit with a better player at CB1
OK, so I'm not sure how often he was on Chase and I do not judge a CB on how he covers Chase who I think is bascially uncoverable. Also, I doubt he shadowed him his rookie year. How much of this was vs JPJ I have no clue.
Chase vs Pitt
2024 game 1: 6-86 1TD
2024 game 2: 10-96 1TD
2025 game 1: 16-161 1TD
2025 game 2: 3-30 0TD

The guys that don't like this move are idiots. They just made the team better.
Come on, I think it's a really good move and can't understand why people don't like it, but to call people idiots for not liking it is just off-base and typical "If you don't agree with me you're an idiot" internet crap. Stop it with that

I thought idiot was a good description. I'll change it to something else. This trade is awesome.

It was an example of an elite WR in his division.

Sorry to put you to the trouble of researching. I should have just said “elite WRs” and left it at that.

For what it’s worth, none of those were him because he hasn’t given up a TD since 2023.

If you want to find his worst game ever it was two years ago against Tee Higgins. He had like five penalties. He cleaned things up quite a bit last year when he had seven penalties all year. As an out of defense, Pat Surtain II, the best CB in football, had nine last year.

In my opinion they have been heading the wrong direction for years. They are making aggressive moves now because they have no rational plan about a rebuild that should have already begun. They will go till Dak’s legs fall off because that sells currently. Over invest in offense for a decade, then aggressively trade to attempt to build a semi decent defense. It’s a Hail Mary plan-like many I’ve watched Jerry attempt through his career. That Netflix special where he talks about the oil gusher tells anyone what Jerry is at his heart. The Cowboys team building is just an extension of a poorly planned extremely well funded disorganization. A team built on aggressive reaction to current stimuli, but no true vision of what should be the finished product. No one has to be on board with what comes next-I barely watch the games at this point. The drunken ****** having a blast pushing buttons while no one is steering the vehicle is not so interesting in the 30th iteration. Sorry not sorry
You still didn't say what should they do? In 2026?
