Schottenheimer needs to go - Regardless of this win

This guy needs to be fired.

I dont care about the win - Great win but one thing I noticed in it was that this offense was poor until DAK started calling his own plays, we saw this with Romo too back when Garrett was calling the plays.

His mistakes at the end of the first half (which shouldn't have occurred because he learned his lesson in Brazil) almost cost this team the game.

If it wasnt for some very weird calls on Houston this team loses in a bad way.

The Cowboys may have beat Houston but Houston also beat Houston - And I am not complaining ill take it, but this guy needs to go.

He will be this teams downfall and he doesnt make them better.
Jim Schwartz, baby! If he can't fix the defense, no one can.

That's what it is. Having Aubrey AND paying him as much as we do..not having him attempt 60 yarderrs is a "waste" of Jerry's money!'o['; If you know what i mean Once AUbrey got that check...there is not strategy other than..."every kick is in his range"!
Maybe, but I was more or less thinking along the lines of the play calling being affected knowing the has that kind of range.

The problem is when he misses, the other team needs one good offensive play to have that same shot. Can’t just hand them points.

It’s fine to do it at the very end of a half as time expires. Other than that you’ve really gotta think. Also at some point it’s reasonable to accept that he is just going to get the yips out of nowhere. That’s what great Dallas kickers do eventually..

Already shaky on kickoffs .

So how did we gift them 6 points? They scored a fg from it
Dallas lost 3 points, Houston gained 3.

Dallas missed field goal + Houston made field goal.

You can make the point that if they punted Dallas would have had 0 anyway, sure.

Likeability? Speak for yourself.
Yeah to me, this wears thin after awhile and he just comes across as Gomer Pyle goofy. The whole reading from a stat sheet and going "boom" after wins is sophomoric and collegial but not something that will galvanize men week after week. There are those who said that behind the scenes Garrett could fire up a team and then he deliberately played vanilla with the media. I don't even think we can give No-Schott that grace. "Schotty just be talkin..."

Pretty much.

It's not at an influential time of the game so they got away with it but the logic is as bad as it gets. Outside of unreasonable things, you can't make a worse decision.

Is the clock favorable for a long kick? No.
Are you likely to make the kick? No.
Does the kick change the number of possessions you need to win? No.
Does missing give the other team a significant advantage? Yes.

You basically handed a Houston a touchdown as a tradeoff for making a one-score game...a one-score game. I have no clue how you could ever make a worse decision.
Why is likely to make a no?

Prior to yesterday, Aubrey had only missed one kick over 60 (a 68 yarder which would have set the record). Even with the block and miss yesterday, he's now at 70% over 60 yards.

Please post evidence Dak was calling his own plays, Phil. Not just your opinion, please.
He was in the hurry up when they were finally moving the ball. Pretty easy to figure out, same with a massive first down call, it was all Dak moving protections etc.

He was 11 for 17 beyond 50 last year. He's never made one that long. He was also 2-4 on those kicks this year, even if the blocks weren't really his fault, but long kicks are more likely to get blocked.

You never assume a kicker is going to make a kick like that.

Good luck with that, because it isn’t going to happen.

He’s going to get a much longer leash than 21 games, especially considering he’s in the process of overhauling the defensive roster. No head coach is perfect, and they’re all going to make mistakes.

The fact is, the Cowboys are 2-2 and could realistically be 4-2 after Tampa Bay and Green Bay. The earliest he could be fired would be after the season, and unless the wheels completely come off, I don’t see that happening either.
He made the same mistake 2 weeks in a row dude. Stop blowing smoke you this guys keister.

All plays called in the huddle - for the most part - have two plays. A running play and a passing play. Romo stated this both as a player and the color announcer for CBS.

Blocking protection is part of the QB's job. As things change by the defense, the QB alters the protection.

That is VASTLY different than calling the plays. I don't think audibling out of a play means the QB is calling the offensive plays.

You may have a different point of view.

Yeah , punt there. The half basically is over

So he’s given a running play and a passing play.

Picks the play based on the look, moves protections and picks hot routes and you want to give Schotty credit for that.?

When his offense sucked in the entire first half?

You'd say this no matter who was he coach.

Every year, about 30 fanbases absolutely detest their head coach. So around and around the carousel goes.

Never made a kick how long? 65? He has.

Was 2-4 on those kicks this year? Which kicks?

11-17, which involves more than the 60+ he was attempting, still indicates making it was LIKELY, not unlikely.

Now, whether or not it was worth the risk with the amount of time left on the clock is another argument, but the numbers show making it as more likely than not.

Clearly, they need to fix an issue with their blocking on FGs.

So after not doing jack in the 1st half, after halftime adjustments they score 28 and win but the coach has to go. Ugh,

Jerrah is very comfortable with Schotty. He isn’t going anywhere. It’s not about having the best head coach in Dallas it’s about having the best coach that will make Jerrah comfortable and won’t effect Jerrah’s limelight.
