Cowboys trade 2014 6th rd pick for Chiefs 2014 7th rd pick and DE Edgar Jones

We don't know what the trade is for yet. We cut Moore, what if we're getting this guy for Moore which we already cut. What if, as some others have said, its for a conditional 7th with the condition being this guy gets 10 sacks this season. You just can't analyze anything when you are only seeing half the data.

1st team offense and defense looked good in PS. Special teams looked weak. Team makes a move to try and improve before the regular season.

A lot of teams do these deals as "controlled waivers". I believe the general point it that it had better be that way. But given our recent history on trades where we "throw in" players, I would not count on it being exactly in our favor.

Special teams do matter. I just question if this player was special enough to trade for.

When you start giving up picks on fodder then yes you will see complaints.

Yeah, nobody would complain if this was a signing after the cuts. But to give up a potential pick for him is too rich for me.

Really. Well, good for you. I'm sure glad the experts with the Cowboys go by a little more than his stats.

Yeah about that.. What is it exactly that they go by?

This guy better be Bill freakin Bates if your going to give up picks for special teams guys.

It's a pick not picks and we don't know the details. If it's a conditional pick, it may never turn out that we have to give it up.

Wow, the Cowboys trying to improve by churning the bottom of their roster and immediately the complaining starts? Special teams is a huge part of the game. We should know because ours hasn't been all that great the last few years.

I doubt the complaining is necessarily about the "bottom-of-the-roster churn", just that fans got their hopes up when they read "trade" and were disappointed to find an unknown player who doesn't address any of our major "thin" spots like DT or OL or safety. To be fair, DE is a little thin given Wilbur's seeming lack of progress.

It wouldn't be surprising at all for him to be a better DE than OLB. Not all big guys are handy in coverage. It also wouldn't be surprising at all for Marinelli and Kiffin to get more out of him than whatever coaches he's had prior.

Not expecting it, but you never know. James Harrison was cut a few times and didn't do crap until he was almost 30.

I do not have a problem with this trade. to think about it jones will be a key backup and not a benchwarmer player this year. special teams players play more then some backup players in some games right behind what the starters do play so he will play an important part on this team this year. so he is worth a low round draft pick.

****** on a crutch! It is probably a 7th round pick, which is basically like an UDFA, and we can sign as many of those as we like.

If he makes a dent on what is a very very bad ST unit, great. But I am struggling to see why you would make a move involving a choice for special teams when we have serious serious issues with depth on both lines.

Okay. Please refrain from ever suggesting that Holloman is a "steal" in the future.
