Lissemore traded to SD for 2015 7th

Obvious excellent move by Jerry. Anyone who complains about this, is foolish.

So basically we traded Lissemore who wasn't a fit and a 6th rounder for that Edgar Jones guy (ST ace) and two seventh rounders.

I'm good w that. We have 3 7th round picks next year now and a veteran ST guy

the 7th from SD is in 2015

Good move to get something for a guy who no longer fit the system. Best of luck to Sean in SD

It's a 2015 7th. So as it stands now, the Cowboys have two 7ths in the next 2 drafts.

Thanks for the correction guys. Still ok w 2 7th rounders the next two years and Edgar Jones for Liss and a 6th.

I join y'all in wishing Liss the best in SD. He seemed to always give it his best and represented the Star with dignity.

I'm kind of blah about this one. Lissemore was looking like a decent rotation player but probably not much more than that. We essentially get the pick back we used for him.

Anyways... Will they bring in another D Tackle?

Nevis might be a nice fit.

I remember being told it was way too early to know anything about Sam Young.

Good times.

There's only two modes for some people:
1. It's too early to tell if the player will be any good.
2. Dwelling in the past is silly now that we know he's not good.

I think this means a good waiver pick up is coming...so excitin'. I did like Lissy though, wish him the best in SD

Yep.

It's the homer fan defense mechanism for any criticism of their team.

You're going to have 2 pro-bowlers out of 6 picks.

I'll take that.

Didn't the almighty 49ers go el busto on their top pick last year? And didn't they just put their second rounder this year on ice for the season? Yeah, two Pro Bowlers out of six players isn't bad at all. Especially since they could wind up being the very best players at their respective positions.

I don't. I'll never get that. I'm a Cowboys fan. I want my team to make the right decision. The last thing I want now is for Lissemore to go to SD and play his best football.

Not sure how this works if anyonecan help, but does trading him mean we get his cap space back (as opposed to cutting him and dead money?)

This is what over the cap has for his contract:

Kudos if we drop these cap numbers ...

Yeah, his salary and everything cap related goes over to the Chargers just like it was for us. It is off of our books and onto theirs. SD can restructure the contract but it is their issue now.

That is why it was important for Dallas to make the trade rather than just cut him. And it is why the pick was in 2015 likely. SD probably didn't agree to a 7th in 2014 and knew they had Dallas over a barrel a little and they countered with a 2015 7th, knowing we would accept to get him off our books. He's a solid 34 DL so, they get a decent player and we get a future 7th and him off our books.

Good for everybody.

Give me a Dez and Lee out of any draft and you can have the rest...

But don't forget we got Barry Church as an UDFA that year, so that is 3 starters from that year's college crop. McCray was also found that year and he is a special teams staple.

So, not too bad.

Phil Costa was from that class, too. Overall, it was a good class for us.
