Honestly, would you rather have a guy that knows the system and is proven to be a capable QB in the NFL or some guy off the street who is a wildcard and may know a handful of plays by game time?

Don't try to talk sense to the "Garrett can't do anything right" mindset.

Hey, Ginger was on that show too !

She's the hottie in the middle...

I loved Ginger...

I once dated a girl while living in L.A. that was a Marilyn Monroe impersonator (mainly because Marilyn Monroe was the inspiration for Ginger and I wasn't arguing with that- she was hot!).

It was hilarious- we would go shopping and paparazzi would follow us thinking she was Anna Nicole and I was Howard Stern (although I look nothing like him, they were looking at her and assumed).

She got the biggest kick out of it...

Sorry to tell you this, but Anna Nicole was a man... The true story was revealed in Naked Gun 33 and a third.

I hate people.

As if prime Joe Montana was beating down our door.

Go be a fan of the Packers. They would never get caught flat-footed in a situation like this!

The tenure of Jason Garrett is exemplified in those TV shows like Gilligan's Island, where the crew thinks they are making progress, while the audience chuckles knowing they are not going anywhere based upon certain pointers they've seen before. Guys, our "progress" is a circle.

Someone had to do it :D

I recall it was Kitna's decision to retire, not the Cowboys'. Good to see him do us a favor by coming back and helping out.

So..are we arguing that we should've signed someone better than Kitna or are we saying we should've been grooming a # 3 guy all along and he would be ready now to step into the # 2 role with Romo hurt?

My take is that at this time, Week 17 of the season, all things considered, Jon Kitna might be the best option there is. The other part, grooming a young guy over the past couple of yrs and hoping he is ready to step in as a # 2 guy because of Romo's injury....I have no defense for not doing this. They've had a few young guys and obviously they ended up thinking that the roster spot was more important and better utilized elsewhere.
Which I do kinda think that is a poor reflection on the drafting and developing of a QB. This should be a strength of Garrett's but the cupboard is bare.

surely no one is dumb enough to think Romo will still be playing at 38-39 years old.

Why not?? Look at a list of good or better QBs. 38 is generally the break point. The plan is to play Romo until he's 36-38. That's a very reasonable plan for a QB like Romo who doesn't get hurt all that much and doesn't run. His only injury prone fault is holding on to the ball too long and that's a huge part of what makes him Romo.

Drafting a QB right now is just not good business. You only get to lease a player for 4 years unless you pick them in the first then you get five football years. If someone falls and you can steal them maybe you pull the string. Until then you don't draft a replacement until they replace Romo in that player's year 2-4. Otherwise you're gambling your drafted QB is so good he can force you to release or trade Romo. And that's a tall order on both the talent side and on the cap side.

So some here are either trolling or unreasonably squawking about signing a BACKUP QB in week 17 because Romo may not play and Orten MIGHT get hurt in a game we're going to have a heck of a time winning due to a historically bad defense. And not getting a replacement for Romo now is an equally unreasonable complaint.

I would watch Romo very closely for one more season.
If dropoff is already evident- it's time. Money means nothing. The QB on his rookie contract will be cheap anyway.

If Romo shows deterioration next year. They NEED to move on a year or two early rather than a year or two late.

So who should we have gotten?

Gotta love complaining without a solution.

This. But there are too many whiner "fans" here that love to complain. Guarantee when Dallas starts winning many of these whiners disappear.

Why don't we just suit up Garrett, he can't be much older than Kitna. Not sure if he knows the offense though. lol
