Honest question? What will his jersey sales be like? Would you wear one?

Does Dallas really need the media circus that would come with this?

Look at Jason Collins in the NBA. He was invited to the freakin' State of the Union, overnight he became one of the top 5 jersey sellers in the NBA. Do we need it? No, but Jerry loves him some media attention. Michael Sam will finish this season as at least a top 10 jersey seller, likely top 5 if he's a starter on a high-profile team (as he would be here). He'd bring in $10M or so in revenue, not including the value of the insane media circus. Wouldn't be surprised to see him drafted by us in the 2nd.

I'm not sure where you heard that, but from everything I have been hearing he is rated as approx the 17th best DE prospect in the draft and was expected to be drafted around the fourth round or so. With that said, from a personal perspective I don't think that his sexuality should have any bearing on his draft status.

That is the bad thing about all of this--the perception of his value before and after his announcement.

The reality is that he was not considered a first round type, and struggled when worked out at OLB at the Senior Bowl. This was as of several weeks ago, he was considered a one-trick pony who lacked the ability for position flexibility to fit 3-4 teams. All in all, an undersized pass rusher who might be strictly a 3rd down specialist.

But I think there will be the perception that if and when he does go later in the draft that teams downgraded him specifically because of his orientation.

Unfortunately, just get prepared for that backlash, whether it is truly founded or not.

I would be more concerned with his size for DL than who he sleeps with at night. His personal life is his as long as what you do off the field has no effect of what you do on the field then I have no issue with a player. I would have a lot more concern if it was a player who has had run in with the law.

If he can play and I think he can....than he should be drafted in the third/fourth rd where he is supposed to be.

My guess....it will be the Steelers or the Patriots.

People talking about 1st round may be confusing him with Kony Ealy, another Missouri prospect.

His being gay shouldn't affect his draft stock, it might even raise it since people will start focusing more on him and realize he's actually just as good a prospect as Ealy.

Right, without a great combine he might not go until like the 6th or 7th round anyways.

That is who some pundits are projecting him to. Teams that are solid in the locker room, with good leadership and especially with a strong personality at head coach.

Why is it important to him for us to know what he likes sexually?

Why tell anyone at all?

Just play football.

He told his team mates before the season. He nor his team mates were making a big deal of it and they kept it to themselves.

However someone was going to bring it up and he had heard some scouts already asking about it so he decided to go ahead and say it to get it out of the way before others tried to use it against him.

People will claim he did it for publicity and the attention but if that was the case he would have said it publicly the same time he told his team mates.

He said he did it because some knew already & he wanted to be the one to tell his story. Brain Paint beat me to it.

I see his point but I saw a quote a few weeks ago from some guy that played for the Oilers & he said they had gays on their team & nobody said a word about it.

Different time I guess.

Once again, .. why?

Do what you want to do, .. but just keep it to yourself.

If he can help this team, I could care less about his sexuality.

Why should he have to keep it to himself if he learns that someone else is going to take it public.

Just because it might not be something you or others want to hear does not mean he should keep quiet about it. He wanted it to come out on HIS terms instead of some other reporters terms.

As far as I am concerned he did it the right way and for the right reasons.

Respect? He probably realizes that not everyone is onboard with his sexual orientation and he respects that. So he tells his teammates to see if anyone has issues. And then hopefully they can discuss said issues and come to the conclusion, like most people have, that it's not a big deal.

I am curious though, what is the shower situation like for a gay person? I could only imagine myself taking showers daily with 60 athletic women. Don't know how that would all work out. Probably spend a lot of time in the ice bath.

It is private.

It is not something that anybody needs to know, .. so why feel that you have to stand on a soap box and proclaim it.

I don't get it.

Do what you want to do, .. but be discreet about it, the way most other people do.
