We were 8-8 last year. If we go 5-11 thats a 3 game difference. What have we lost that will make us 3 games worse? Ware's 6 sacks? Hatcher - is he worth 3 wins?

If you don't see how the trade off from Demarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher to Jeremy Mincey and Terrell McClain makes us worse then nothing more needs to be said.

I'll give you this much - if these 2 signings are all that we will do this off season you may have some credence in what you say. But, why would you assume that these 2 signings were meant to REPLACE the 2 guys we lost and simply be depth rotation signings? In other words, why would you assume we wont make some other moves or improvements with the draft?

Its just frustrating to be a fan of the Cowboys.

We all just express it differently.

Some take it out on the organization, coaches, players, etc.

Others take it out on those that take it out on the organization, coaches, players, etc.

But we are all united in our frustration.

GO COWBOYS!

If the season started tomorrow and we didn't draft or sign anyone else, yes it would be a trade off. Dallas has history of signing players 32 year old or older to big contracts and getting burned. They chose to rebuild through the draft and get younger. It sure looks like that is what we are doing now. Let's see what happens before feaking out. If we go 5-11 so be it. Then we go into 2014 with a new HC, probably a new qb and about 30 million in cap money to add players.

That's the problem, we can't get a new QB. We're married to Romo thanks to that idiotic contract. We're rebuilding with an aging QB who just entered the 1st year of a 100 million dollar contract and coming off multiple back surgeries. You don't give an old QB that kind of deal unless you're ready to win now.

Even Spags on Talking Cowboys yesterday responded to a caller by agreeing that right now there is no logical reason to think this team will be better than 500

Now he said that might change In the future, but right now this team looks worse after losing Ware

Not sure I have ever heard Spags utter anything negative. Even he can see the writing on the wall now.

Well, then don't poo poo on folks predicting 5-11 then. Some of us are realistic about this teams immediate future. I for one believe that without a fantastic draft, we'll be lucky to finish 8-8 and 5-11 is probably closer to reality.

its like 3 days into Free Agency and the fickle Cowboys fans are claiming doom and gloom.....Jerry hasn't mortgaged the future for some old superstar to make the fans happy........be patient....the future will be bright young jedi's.....have faith...its called rebuilding

Many fans on this board were to young to see Troy Aikman throw a TD....or even watched the horrid days Dave Campo ERA on TV.....

If you can't figure out that the calendar reads MARCH across the top and we still have a lot of time to finish adding parts to the defense nothing more needs to be said.

The performance of this franchise since Parcells left is slowly draining the enthusiasm for this team out of me. I have been a fan for 37 years and I am at a point where I just don't really care what this team is doing this offseason. Jerry was right to release Ware but unless this team has a draft where they get 4 starting caliber players they will be 5-11 next year.

I dont trust the front office to have a quality draft. I have no confidence in this coaching staff and the front office always tries to be the smartest guys in the room and they're just plain dumb. So the OP may be sick of the doom and gloom 5-11 talk but he better get used to it because that's the reality of things right now and it just makes many of us apathetic. Frankly, I'm sick of this team and have been for a while. Its "core" players no longer do anything for me. Not sure when an era of new hope starts. As fans we deserve better and we're not getting it from this sad group.

Its gonna be a long off season with all this "tanking" and "rebuilding" and were headed for "5-11" BS. The whole coaching staff will be gone and Jerry's starting the rebuilding process and clearing salary cap room so he can bring in a new HC next year.

Ridiculous!

We were 8-8 with an injury riddled Defense. How will it be any worse? Because we lost Ware's 6 sacks? We dont get Spencer back? Hatcher was worth 3 wins all by himself? Only an idiot would think the M & M's signings are anything other than depth for rotation. How will the offense be any worse? Has the draft been cancelled? No more FA signings will be allowed from this point on?

Ridiculous!

Suddenly the Eagles have already run away with the division because they signed a 31 yr old RB. We dont have a snowballs chance in hell.

Ridiculous!

I agree. 5-11? No Way.

I'm not too young to have seen those things. But at least after 1-15 we knew this team had a plan and so we waited. What is the plan for this Jerry led group? Frankly they are a losing bunch that choked under pressure three years in a row with the division for the taking. Thats a fact. So yeah I'm one of the diehards that has turned on this team. I'll still watch because that's what fans do but I am tired of waiting for a rebuild of a team that missed its window of opportunity in 2007-09. Management is three years too late on this rebuild and who knows if they can even pull it off. I haven't seen any evidence of it.

Maybe if they draft good college players from proven winning college programs they have a chance. But mostly what we get are cute small college projects (Owusu-Ansah, Webb) who can't play or players coming off injury that are only available because of previous injury (Carter, Lee) who remain injury prone or diminished. It's a joke.

I was there for the 1-15 and I can assure you no fan was aware of any plan nor had much confidence that there was one. It all worked out, but the handwriting was not on the wall at the time.

Realistically we are probably looking at a 5-11 year, with a Dave Campo caliber head coach.

I Disagree. As soon as the Walker trade went down anyone could see that building through the draft and adding around #1 pick Aikman was the plan. 1989 was a clean out year that would be replenished with the picks in 1990. What's the plan here?

Things in the past always look clearer in that hindsight is 20/20 vision. The Walker trade turned out to be a big thing but at the time it went down it was viewed as us getting rid of our best player and it meant we had no chance to do well. Not a real popular move at the time.

Once again, to the fans, the plan was not clear. The only thing fans could do was hope for the best.

How did this team win 8 games last year? I mean the worst Defense in team history all the injuries, how did they win 8 games? That they can play that bad and still win 8 games, If they improve only the defensive line between now and August and Romo comes back healthy and hungry that has to be worth a win or two.
The guys they signed are back ups that have some history in the league. last year our DL was coming off the street, and they still won 8 games. Two of our DL starters are not on the roster yet. Fix the DL and they go to the playoffs.
No need to panic, you won't know enough till around June 7 or so.
