that was a monumentally stupid decision and this one would be as well
Well, if Jerry keeps listening to coaches and not his scouts, more stupid decisions will come.

very much agree.
seems lately more teams are going up after players. Atlanta a few years ago for Julio, Dolphins last year for Jordan, us for Claiborne. I would not be surprised by anything on May 8th.
I do not think the coach makes as much of a difference anymore with today's players, they are as much of a mercenary as they are. I think he would need to be shamed by teammates just as much anymore to work. The cast Clowney gets around will have a lot to do with his success as well. If he is around workers, he will work. If he is in a bad locker room, he could fall into bad habits.
Desire still has to come from the player coach can't want it for you. Dallas has an excellent DC in Marinelli whom will be working with any defensive players we may select but even at that Clowney the player has to want it.
I see you have a picture of Dorsett, It only cost Dallas their 1st and 3 2nd rd picks. Sometimes it pays off.
very much so....loved TD.
So you would not consider that a stupid move giving up 3 players for 1? I'm not saying we should get Clowney given some serious question but if there was a player you felt that strongly about then sometime it is worth the price.
I thought Jerry was going after Manziel?
yes i would but I didn't think Clairborne was worth it and I don't think Clowney is worth it. i would have done it for Luck a couple years back, but right now i don't see a player that I would give up that much for in this years draft.
Apples and oranges. Claiborne lasted until the 6th pick and Clowney would require us going to the 1st pick. We are also picking later than we did with Mo so it would take considerably more to move that far up. Completely different sceneros.Everyone said prior to Claiborne's draft that there was no way we would trade up to get him, yet we did.
If Mack, Clowney, Manziel, Donald, etc. drop past at least 6 or 7, Jerra might want to take a look, but we simply have too many needs to swap 3 number ones+ for one player. Even then, the last I heard Kiper has Teddy going to Houston with the 1st pick in the 2nd, so he might be there at 16. To me, that kind of trade should only be made by the Cowboys if it is for a franchise QB, which would mean Tony's back isn't where it needs to be.

I'm not willing to put any money on it.
In terms of what Dallas gave point wise we actually did very good on that deal getting him for less than what should have been expected.
Smart man.
that's true as far as value. i was just not that impressed with Mo in college, that's why I wouldn't have done the trade. if i'm giving up a 1st and 2nd, i want a superstar and I don't think Mo will be one. i think with all the rules, that the days of a shutdown CB are over, so I don't see drafting one in the top 10.
