4 teams including champs had "high interest" in Hitchens

Yeah, the move up was odd for an apparent 2-down MLB.

But that being said I don't think defense is or did much of the "Tampa 2" where MLB had to get back to cover a medium to deep middle.

If anything I think the defense is going more towards the "Seattle Cover 3" where the one safety covers the deep middle and the two corners can play press, but are still responsible for the deep coverage behind them.

Umm we didn't move up.

Don't buy this at all.

Maybe those teams were interested in the 6th round

I actually like our draft okay.
This pick and the pricey trade to lose the 3rd rounder were my two main issues.

Here's to hoping Hitchens is an ideal fit for what Marinelli wants to do.

Go cowboys

Knowing Seattle, SF, Arizona, and St Louis did doesn't make you reconsider?

Not really. We are not any of those teams and we don't have the same personnel, nor do we play the same scheme. I guess I would have to understand what you mean by "Knowing".

If this is what we are doing, then why would we bring in Marinelli or even Kiffen. I have not heard that this was the scheme we were going to and if we are, then why don't we ever play press. I don't believe this but I guess it could be possible.

Well when Monte came in he said, "Watch how Seattle play's defense because that's how we're going to do it."

And Seattle runs a bunch of Cover-3 with a safety in the box and remaining safety and two corners being responsible for the deep zones.

I think you saw very little press because the Cowboy safeties were shaky and the corners weren't confident.

Well unless Spagnola and the guy in the Op are lying then they were. It is what it is.

And the Seahawks and 49ers are two teams that our defensive coaches have stated they get ideas from. They are the two best 4-3 teams in the league over the last several years too.

Knowing - to have knowledge of something. To know.

In a sentence: Knowing that we didn't move up in the 4th round to pick Hitchens, seems like something we should all know.

I still don't like the pick, but this info at least makes me feel a little better about it. Hopefully Hitchens will help keep the defense from crumbling into oblivion when Lee inevitably goes down.

People need to remember though that the Cowboys certainly don't have a monopoly of reaching for players in the middle rounds, or even the early rounds for that matter.

Commanders drafted a guard in the 3rd round that was projected to go in the 6th.

Giants drafted a DT in the 3rd that was was also projected to go in the 6th.

Eagles drafted a WR in the 3rd that was projected to go around the 7th.

And as brooksey1 pointed out, Seattle drafted a borderline UDFA prospect in the 2nd round.

Yet we have two very expensive CBs who excel at press coverage and we don't play it. What is said and we see are two different things. We insist on playing Zone Techniques when we have two CBs who don't do it very well. We avoid press, the very thing they do best.

Eagles also drafted a LB in the 1st that was predicted to go in the 3rd i believe.

Just like the term, "What You Mean". You should know that when somebody asks you that, it means just that. It doesn't mean, give me the meaning of the word. Do me a favor, don't help.

I cannot speak to our division rivals but Seattle I think has earned the benefit of the doubt regarding their picks that buck the draft cottage industry.
