Does Tony Romo need somebody to get in his face?

Where I fault Jones is he let the team get old on him
and couldn't put out all the fires. That lays at bad drafting
and crap contracts. trying to catch up. Now we have a aging QB and time in conflict.
It may work out if Romo can be effective for three more years.

Aren't they one of the youngest teams in the league?

The drafting has been solid.

In defense of Garrett, does he ever get in anyone's face? It's not a bias for Romo. His reaction to any play, good or bad, is to stare off into space like a zombie and clap.

What Romo has needed is good coaching, someone to "keep him on the reservation" as Parcells would say. Those who have said that Romo is treated as an equal here are 100% correct and that is exactly the problem.

It's too late for that. Romo, like any other good player to improve, needed good coaching. We (and Romo) needed that when Parcells left. Wade realized the team needed help on the offensive side of the ball and tried to bring in Dan Reeves but that was shot down. Garrett had no credibility as a coach and then end result is what we've seen on the field the last few years.

Did you see that look on Garrett's face towards the end of the game on Sunday? That was a guy who knew his money train (Romo) had left the station and he's in some deep crap.

That's the major issue. By defending Garrett so much and trying everything to protect himself from admitting the blunder he made, he ruined Romo's career. His career will go down as "what could have been". Romo has taken such a beating all this time, if it weren't for his ability to keep plays alive, who knows how much worse it could have been.

The problem with Romo is he is too nice. He should have been in Jerry's face threatening that is Garrett was still around, he's signing somewhere else.

He needs someone like Manziel sitting behind him so he knows that if he doesn't perform, there's a fallback option.

Like Manziel??? Manziel is riding the pine in Cleveland of all hell holes.
If Jerry was ever going to pull the trigger on a 1st round QB, he would not have
invested 100mil in his "Romo **********"... Just the facts, man.

Manziel riding the pine in Cleveland has caused their starting QB to really step up his game.

Not really.

Or not at least at this juncture.

He needs a coach who actually coaches him.

If it were Parcells, he would probably let 1 or 2 mistakes go by and then chew him out after another mistake. He would also be yelling at Linehan to stop using so much shotgun and run the ball in the red zone.

If it continued, you could bet that Parcells would really lace into him. And that is why he is arguably the greatest head coach at developing QB's in the history of the NFL.

This organization, especially Romo, never recovered from Parcells' departure.

Romo, more than anyone else, needed Parcells (or someone like him to coach him). Instead, the new regime treated Romo like a co-equal (this is clearly documented on Hard Knocks '07). As a result, Romo has at various times in his career forgot the QB Commandments that he used to have taped to his locker:

Quarterback commandments:

1. Ignore other opinions – Press or TV, agents or advisors, family or wives, friends or relatives, fans or hangers on – ignore them on matters of football, they don’t know what’s happening here.

2. Clowns can’t run a huddle – don’t forget to have fun but don’t be the class clown. Clowns and leaders don’t mix. Clowns can’t run a huddle.

3. Fat QBs can’t avoid the rush – A quarterback throws with his legs more than his arm. Squat and run.

4. Know your job cold – this is not a game without errors. Keep yours to a minimum. Study.

5. Know your own players – Who’s fast? Who can catch? Who needs encouragement? Be precise. Know your opponent.

6. Be the same guy every day – in condition. Preparing to lead. Studying your plan. A coach can’t prepare you for every eventuality. Prepare yourself and remember, impulse decisions usually equal mistakes.

7. Throwing the ball away is a good play – sacks, interceptions and fumbles are bad plays. Protect against those.

8. Learn to manage the game – personnel, play call, motions, ball handling, proper reads, accurate throws, play fakes. Clock. Clock. Clock. Don’t you ever lose track of the clock.

9. Get your team in the end zone – passing stats and TD passes are not how you’re going to be judged. Your job is to get your team in the end zone and that is how you will be judged.

10. Don’t panic – when all around you is in chaos, you must be the hand that steers the ship. If you have a panic button so will everyone else. Our ship can’t have a panic button.

11. Don’t be a celebrity QB – we don’t need any of those. We need battlefield commanders that are willing to fight it out, every day, every week and every season and lead their team to win after win after win.

Things that MR. Fix it let fall by the way side at camp cupcake and things Ginger could never say if he wanted to.
This coaching regime went from Parcells to Jones in the few years Parcells said it would.

That may be one of the biggest sins in Jerry's tenure is how he completely wasted the career of a franchise QB. I truly believe that with the right coaching, Romo could have had a similar career to Kurt Warner. Maybe that praise is too high but I really feel the guy had the tools to be special (which he was except for post season wins).

But while Romo's career may not have been what a fan like me wanted, it was everything Jerry could have hoped for; Romo was more an investment than QB. He got his "relevance" and sold a lot of seat licenses to fill his brick and mortar tribute to his ego.

Here's a shocker- I absolutely agree with you! The reason is I think Romo is the ultimately competitor and I think he responds to challenges so I think having Manziel behind Tony would've been the best thing in the world for him. I also think he would've fought back any challenge by Manziel for a couple of years which would've made a perfect transition.
