stopped reading here. thanks for the laughs

Yeah I agree with some of what I read but you can hardly blame the fan base for being jaded after almost two decades of squat.
I do like the direction JG has the team going in however. Sorry ginger bashers.

Maybe, maybe not. however it did create an entire new breed of fans....call them what you will, Realists, Whiners, Haters, antagonists....but by far I rather be the TRUE fan and always root for this team no matter what.

What created a new breed of fans?

Losing?

Basically, years of losing has created a segment of the fanbase that doesn't expect Dallas to win?

Is this surprising to you?

As far as a "TRUE" fan is concerned, if you root for the team and want the team to win then what else is there? Whether or not people expect the team to win (based largely on history, mind you) is completely separate from if they want the team to win. I doubt many Jacksonville fans expect to win, are there no "TRUE" Jaguars fans?

I expect the Chargers to beat the Jaguars this week but don't care whether or not they do.

I'm unsure of whether or not Dallas will beat the Saints, but I am extremely invested in wanting Dallas to win.

I think it's time people quit trying to label others according to whether or not they are "TRUE" fans. As I said above, this team has struggled long enough. Anyone who still takes the time out of their day to post on a message board has earned their fan card.

There are plenty of teams amongst the major sports who don't win, and who's fans don't expect them to win. The fans of these teams still support the team even though many know their team isn't going to win.

I have also heard a few times...let's wait to the end of the season to see what the record is...only for it to be 8-8 again. :(

Maybe waiting till we actually break 9 wins before throwing out the anointing oil is the better plan.

How about we wait until this team cant run the ball, cant pass the ball, abandons the run, cant stop anybody, Cant stop the opposing team. and isnt Killing teams with TOP before we annoint them 2013?

You change what happened then by looking at it, seeing what needs changed, addressing and trying to implement the changes.

Seriously we are having a debate about forgetting your recent past because it has nothing to do with the future and why look back?

Seriously. When this team has made the same mistakes over and over and over and has had the same record the last few years and has .500 record for A DECADE?

Really?

Exactly, it's the old "No True Scotsman fallacy" if you're not a sunshine pumping homer.

You cant, and i dont because there are plenty of of things this team does that drives me crazy. But when you spend all your time harping about past problems and not acknowledging any of the good this team is doing now. Whats the use? Thats not a team problem, thats a you problem. Because its not bad in Dallas right now. They have some hiccups, but what team doesnt?

Jerry should thank his lucky stars (excuse the pun) that Dallas fans are such good fans.

I'm not sure what the "fans" have to do to please some but I read time & again that the Cowboys have the largest fan base in the NFL. After years of bumbling & stumbling the Cowboys still have a massive fan base.

Well, you give it a good try. You made your case.
Dallas' fan bass is the biggest, yeth, but the most passive, so maybe you allute to this.
And, yes, it is the fans fault when they buy all that merchandise only to get a lousy product from Jerra, so maybe you allute to this too.

Now, aside from your asserton that the fans are at fault, I sense that the other problem i see is forum over reaction. Yes, I said fans over reation here in this forum. It is like they sense blood and betcha why golly wow, they is gonna git some blood!

So all yew Forumites who just want to kick sand in the venerable LatinMind's face, he posted, he opined and he stood up for his beliefs.
Show a little decorumite. grrrrrr!

Chip Kelly comes in and has his Eagles team in the play-offs in year 1, and yet we need to wait 4 years before Garrett makes the play-offs? Garrett has shown he can beat the bad teams. I need to see him show he can regularly compete against the quality teams in the league. What we saw against San Francisco has been par course. The Saints game will be a measuring stick on whether or not this team is really headed in the right direction.

Not what we have had to watch in recent yrs with players playing for numbers. Ware's empty garbage time sacks, Romo's empty no huddle yards and Tds in loses.

dont care for this opinion. Ware is a hall of fame player and deserves more respect than this. then you talk about the fans but say that? Ware had a late 4th quarter sack safety for Denver in the game they lost but damn it was awesome. Romos play means nothing if the Cowboys lose huh. thats the crap other team fans say

I have one more win before the bye than you (7).
This is a crossroads game. If the Cowboys beat the Saints, I'm about to get reallyyyy excited about this season. They can't keep losing home games. Starting 0-2 at home would be embarrassing.

The Saints are off to a bad start, but their quarterback is still very good. If they can beat the Saints, something they have only accomplished once in the last however many years it has been, then I'm going to put all my negativity in reverse.

I think they only game to worry about is NO. They are a good team, they have played poorly but Payton always has his team ready to play us. They are 1-2 looking to go .500, we need to run the ball, control the clock and stop them on 3rd down, sounds simple but it is going to be a tough task.

Seattle? They are much better than the Saints.

They've gotten rid of most of its big overpaid contracts.

They've gone out and brought in and drafted players who arent affraid to put in work and who have an attitude about them. Arent affraid to fight back. In past yrs and even last yr they wouldve folded in that Rams game. No doubt in my mind.

I believe this kind of thinking is lazy and lays blame where it isn't deserved.

Maybe there are some players who would have folded last year or in past years, but I have trouble believing the majority would have ... and there are plenty of games in those years that show the fight of those players. People seem to often mistake a lack or talent or playing with injuries for a lack of effort or desire.

A player that comes to mind is Miles Austin. The reports on him were that the coaching staff actually had to cut back his work because he would overdo it, but his injuries made him "overpaid." We had to get rid of him, but not because he was afraid to put in the work, didn't have an attitude or was afraid to fight back.

Don't confuse the fan base with the negative trolls on this site. Big difference.

Eagles W 9-5 Dallas just has phillys number. Think Kiffins knowledge of what Eagles coach does plays into this from their college days.

Didn't Kelly (that would be the eagles coach) *****slap Kiffin to oblivion in college?
He averaged like 50pts and 500yds against him.

I predicted this right after the last preseason game. I have two questions for you, Latin.

1. How does this prediction in any way effect the team?

2. How is my predicting this season of struggle any different from your season of hope?

They are just opinions.

This team has beaten two teams they should have, but a kid playing QB for the Rams as a starter for one of the first times handed this defense their hats for a while. Number 89 of the Rams catches that pass laid in his hands and doesn't drop it, how does the momentum change in that game?

Do you recall what Tony Siragusa said after 89 dropped the pass. The Dallas defenders have been two steps behind all day. The evidence is there, if you look.

I love this team. But it has problems. And they will be exacerbated when competent QB's face the Dallas team with no real pass rush. You claim they have brought in players who try hard. They have brought in players who would be bench players for most teams and are grateful just to be starting.

They try hard because this could be their only day in the sun.

You surely may feel as you like, and post as you are moved to do so. I take issue with you telling me, or anyone else, how we should feel and react to a team that hasn't had a significant play-off run since the mid nineties.

Bravo for your enthusiasm. But spare me the lecture on being a fan.

I sat in the stands when Dallas played the Pittsburgh Stealers in the very first game this franchise hosted. That was the day I became a diehard Cowboys fan.

Been one since day one.

So forgive me for saying this, but I think I know how to behave in regard to this team, thank you.
