A critical, but largely unnoticed play yesterday

There are three players left from when he took over. Three.

He rebuilt a roster right under your nose, and with THAT general manager.

He deserves a statue, not criticism from the know-nothing fan base.

And for the record, Tom Landry was given a LOT more than four years to establish a culture.

And yet, this is the same head coach that has, in the past, gotten a ho-hum effort out of teams with talent. So is it Garrett or the OC's? My way of thinking is the guys running the different squads are making most of this physical, great effprt football;l happening.

Your sight is messed up by the desire glasses you're are peering through.

That's just incorrect. This team has played hard for Garrett since the day he took over. Not well always, but hard every time.

Yep, desires speaking, not reality.

A quietly important play was made yesterday that is indicative of this team's mentality this year.

After Romo's interception, Lance Dunbar raced over and tackled the Texans DB at the eight-yard line. That was incredibly important because last year, I swear the guy would have made it to the 50 or beyond.

The defense held, forcing a punt, and Dwayne Harris returned the ball down inside the 30.

So the result of the interception after the exchange was about 10 yards of field position.

It's those kind of plays that win games every bit as much as Romo's spin move or Dez' immaculate catch.

Good on you, Dunbar.

I noticed that too and commented on another board. It was a great tackle that gave the Texans crappy field position. Then our D stood tall and forced a three and out, including a great third-down tackle by Rolando McClain. They punt and we get good field position. Dunbar plus the D bailed out Romo for his pick. I don't think that happened even once last season.

Really? What 3? If you're going to base you opinions on these types of things, at least be accurate about it.

Players that were here in 2010: Dez, Barry Church, Doug Free, LP Ladouceur, Sean Lee, Josh Brent, Scandrick, Spencer, Witten, Romo.

That's 10 by my count, mostly starters.

I should have said four, I forgot about Free (whose days are numbered, btw). Dez, Free, Witten, and Romo.

Scandrick was largely in the dog house. Church and Brent were nobodies. Ladouceur....c'mon. And Lee isn't ever here.

The point is, the Garrett bashers are so wildly off base, it's comical. Especially considering that you will NEVER, and I mean never, see a big name coach in here ever again. Jerry won't have it. You'll just get another Wade or Chan Gailey.

Garrett is trying to rebuild this team into a different animal. He's young and has made mistakes, just like all coaches, but he's 80 percent finished. He has the moxie and patience to withstand Jerry's idiocy and keep his composure, and he truly understands what this franchise is supposed to be about.

Let's see this through.

I really dig your "Death Star" avatar by the way.

Just me or did he seem to be having trouble with the play clock for a lot of the game.

He has had trouble with either the play getting to him on time , or waiting until the last second to hike the ball for years now.. Nothing new. Or, he just not realizing where the play clock is in the stadium. Or, something I don't know..

I wish for once, Romo would be able to actually keep the opposing defenses on their toes by not letting the clock get down to 01 and hiking it..Ridiculous.

But, in this case, their ain't much to figure out. Line up, run the ball, keep that damn clock moving.

You know, I normally am irked by our own fans mocking that great new stadium, but I've never actually looked as his avatar. It is pretty cool, actually.

This is a problem in 32 cities. We just pay attention to our own, but fan bases are constantly complaining about their coaching staffs in this regard.

that was a big play. another negative big play was the williams drop at the goal line. could have easily been 7, we had some drops yesterday that was important in keeping the game close, not to mention the turn overs.

Yeah, Terrance has had a bad habit of making body catches way too often thus far in his career. He isn't into the habit of using his hands as his main option just yet. Anyhow, it was those hands that betrayed him on that play. Let's hope he's able to improve his catching technique and use his hands more effectively in the future.

A QB in his 12th year should damn well know all about the 40 second clock. Period.. This is deer in the headlights rookie crap here. Nothing to do with the coaching staff, other than someone should've been screaming "TIMEOUT!!!", TIMEOUT!!!".. Either in Romo's headset or on the sideline.

We left at least 6 points on the field, and up to 18 (the fumble, INT and Williams drop could have been 21 instead of just three).

We were playing a front that consistently showed blitz and then dropped into coverage, so Romo was going through more adjustments at the line than he might against another defense. This is pretty common stuff. He screwed up on the play coming out of the TO and we got dinged. That's not good, but it's not exactly the end of the world.

And it's been explained, many times, why Romo prefers to get the defense to commit over varying the snap. You don't have to like it, but let's not pretend there's not a good reason why he does it. It's his ball game, so he gets to do it the way he thinks he can be most competitive. If that makes you nervous as you see the little five second clock come up while he's making adjustments, well, you'll just have to be nervous a bit.

The 4-1 has people giddy. History means more than this record. Name one game a Garrett decision made a difference in winning, not losing.

Your answer lies there.

Not gonna play. Describe a sunset to a blind man ;)
