Interesting.
Fish may have been behind a few margaritas as well.
Interesting.
if true...his replacement is not on the roster. so add another roster need to the list
Those backs are likely to buck the trend and go in the first. At which point you're paying them darn near what you're offering Murray.
what about ryan williams pass protecting?
Lol Murray isnt a special back. He is good not great ceretainly not even close to Emmitt Smith.
I said it in another thread and I'll say it again: Murray averaged 180 carries through his first three years. He has a lot of tread on his tires. Let him run.
Totally agree. If he can remain healthy I think he will be productive.
But staying healthy is the problem with Murray.
A full healthy season for him would be out of the norm. The norm for him is missing time during the season including in his college days.
It would be hard to give a big contract to a RB, who is injury prone, in a contract year and expect him to continue to be healthy every year when it is against his norm.
Even if you put in clauses in a contract to cover missing games due to healthy issues you still take a spot on the roster away from someone who might be hole when they get injured. Ala Sean Lee...sure they put things in his contract to help with the money/cap but at the same time when he is gone that is a very good starter and then we have to search through a number of players to try and find someone who can come close to his ability to cover for him...luckily we got McClain this time.
I disagree.
I know the stats. Murray isn't touched until the second level.
But go review the game if you DVR'd it and watch against the Texans how he moved the pile forward. Seldom, and I mean not often at all, this guys gets shoved back.
I remember the spares we've had that looked brilliant in pre-season and stunk on ice when the real games start. I also know the coaches sees these guys daily.
If this was just anyone can do it, you'd see the other guys a lot more often.
If this is true then either Jerry, Stephen, or both, have lost their minds. Murray is the focus of this offense now and is on a record pace. You cannot just plug and play just anyone and expect even close to the same production. Sheer lunacy. You would think they learned their lesson when they lowballed Emmitt in '93. SMH
i love a rb who goes down moving forward. and murray does. no doubt murray is a very good back, but you can't pay a top elite wr, ot,qb and runningback. something has to give. i expect they would move up some if they are close but i would'nt go much over where we are with murray. love the player but you have to keep in mind we have lots of free agents and we have more coming every year. you have to look down the road on contracts.
but one thing i love about murray is he moves the pile and most rb's don't
People keep saying this. Those backs are likely to buck the trend and go in the first. At which point you're paying them darn near what you're offering Murray and you burnt a premium pick to do so. That's not very smart.
I don't know about that. Are the signing bonuses for a first-round running back higher than the signing bonuses for a premier veteran running back who hits free agency?
I think now that the salaries of rookies have been brought back to earth, it seems to me DM would get a bigger contract in free agency. He's probably looking more at the signing bonus than the contract itself.
I would think the Cowboys could pay a rookie less money than they could to spend the money on resigning DM, who will command a hefty price on the open market.
So you do think Murray is better than Emmitt Smith? To prop Murray you minimize the feats of one of the greatest Rbs of all time and ceretainly the best Rb in Franchise history. Wow, all I need to know.Well what makes a great back? Emmitt would not have been Emmitt if it weren't for an oline and the team willing to give him the rock. Did Emmitt have 5 straight 100 yard games?
I think Murray is worthy of a reasonable contract that is fair for both sides. I would love to sign him and get this over with because I think he deserves it. We would not be 4-1 without him. Yeah lets let him walk without giving him a reasonable contract. Its something losing organizations do all the time and would not surprise me if fans want to get back to 8-8.

Murray lacks vision at the line. I've pointed it out before. He misses holes reguarly. Watch him play it's easy to spot. He is decent making people miss in the open field and physical. He had had issues with injuries in past and turnovers this year. He isn't worth a big contract and could be replaced. I have
No issue with the team if they let him walk.
We know Murray's workload is going down going forward. Which likely means Randle's workload will increase accordingly. By the end of the year, we will know if the success of the running game is a function of the o-line or Murray. If Randle averages 5 yards per carry by year end, you can bet Jerry won't budge from the current offer. If Murray leaves, Randle will take over and Jerry will draft another RB in the fourth or fifth round next year.
If Randle struggles however, look for Jerry to spice up Murrays current offer
