Do I think he's better than Emmitt? No. But who really cares. Emmitt no longer is playing and Murray is. Right now I would take Murray over a retired Emmitt.
All I know this team would not be 4-1 within him running the ball. He is averaging 5 yards a carry and that is nothing to sneeze at. I don't think its because of JUST the oline. I ran over 5 yards a carry during his rookie year as well and thats with a crappy oline. So this idea that we can plug and play anyone to run behind this oline seriously needs a reality check. If that would be the case why isn't Randle getting more carries?
Murray is a very good back. He breaks tackles and turn one yarders into big plays. Sure he misses the hole once in a while. So did Tony Dorsett. But to say his average is reaching while his averaging 5 yards a carry is really reaching.....
Murray runs nothing like Dorsett or Emmitt. Seriously he isn't them and he isn't elite. Get that out of your head. He takes the deal he was offered or he leaves. He will be replaced
Reinforce any of that with some pertinent stats and relevance beyond talking down another's post by one's own attitude on subject...
Probably the smart way to go, unfortunately.
Maybe Murray sees the writing on the wall and realizes that he will have a better career in Dallas behind that OL. We can hope.

You can't quantify running styles by stats. If you think Murray runs like Smith and Dorsett, then I guess we can end our conversation here, because he isn't half as skilled at the position as either of those HOF RB. I seriously question if many of you eluding that Murray is elite even watch him play. Watch him behind the line of scrimmage he leaves yards on the field all the time by his running style. He doesn't have good vision, and misses holes. He does better in the open field, but I just wonder how much better he could be if he actually hit the hole that were there, instead of trying to create new ones by running into his linemen.
I never said he wasn't good, or didn't have a part in helping Dallas be 4-1. I said he wasn't elite, didn't deserve to be paid as an elite back and he could be replaced. All true IMO
I will say it. Murray is elite. He is a pro bowler, only 2 are chosen from each conference each year. That is the definition of elite, he is an upper echelon RB regardless of your opinion. His production and recognition are evident.
No one is saying he is a HOFer. Not yet. But so far he is looking dang good and if he stays healthy he has the talent to be one. Especially if he keeps breaking/equaling franchise and NFL all time records. With Murray, Cowboys have always had the ability to run the ball, even before everyone was clamoring about the OL, it just took a Linehan to make everyone else in the organization believe too.

He was an alternate for the pro bowl and fans get to vote. Murray is a good back not elite. He is doing well this year and in limited carries Randall has looked effective too. The line is playing really well right now along with the blocking downfield by the WR. He is good back that is Replaceable, not elite. He is making the most of his opportunities this year though that's for sure.

Actually there are 3 HB's and a FB for a total of 8 RB's.

Marcel Reece (Oakland Raiders) FB

Demarco Murray (Dallas Cowboys)
Mike Tolbert (Carolina Panthers) FB
