We are definitely suffering from entitlement because of the offensive line. We really do think we can win with anyone back there. Jerry thought this same foolishness years ago when he would not pay up for Emmitt. He thought his team was good enough with an historic offensive line, without an outstanding runner. Well, he was wrong. We could be on the verge of doing something special and the one guy that has helped this team become 4-1, we want to toss him out because of his salary? Talent costs. We forget that Murray is the same guy that put up 200 plus rushing yards on teams a few years back WITHOUT an offensive line. Injury, can't help that.

I don't mind fans getting spoiled with the line, but real football people know that you win with talent and you can't just throw anyone back there and expect for them to break tackle after tackle. Obviously, with the thinking Jerry has, he's still a fan and not a real GM. Let the year play out, see where you go. Offer a solid deal, not the one that was presented, and something that works for all parties involved, but don't be stupid and think anyone can do it.

You've been around for a good while and seen a great deal of football.

Why can't you see this guy has some wiggle the others do not?

Blind is blind. Not much you can do about that.

If this is true then either Jerry, Stephen, or both, have lost their minds. Murray is the focus of this offense now and is on a record pace. You cannot just plug and play just anyone and expect even close to the same production. Sheer lunacy. You would think they learned their lesson when they lowballed Emmitt in '93. SMH

why, the Patriots have been doing this for years yet everyone congratulates them

When Brady's gone, then we'll revisit.

no need Robert Kraft put a financial plan in when he first bought the team.He has refused to budge
from that plan through lots of contracts and has won most. Their success is largely do to organization.

Out of all of the times that Jerry has overpaid or forked out the money, this would be the time do it.

If we don't, I will be upset.

We don't have a complete back on this time to his level. You cannot argue that we do.

Williams doesn't have the blocking, Randle is average, Dunbar is a specialist as previously said.

Was driving and Fisher was on the G-Bag Nation. He said about Murray:

"I will bet anyone, any amount, that Dallas will not negotiate that contract on Murray up. They will not pay him 5 million. They will let him walk and pay the guy behind him 500K. They have set a precedent and will stick to it."

Just repeating what he said.

Fisher is just stirring things up to get more publicity out of this Murray situation. Stephen has already stated he wants to sign Murray because his an important part of the team. Thus Fisher is blowing smoke.

Randle is actually a decent all around player but is not of Murray's caliber. Right now, there only TWO backs on par with Murray, and both are in HOF.

Replacing Murray with ONE guy will be difficult enough but you want to find TWO guys like Murray? Murray is on fire right now, no one in the game comes even close.

Sorry, that's just way overrated and overstated,,,, and I'm a big fan of Murray.

so, go to murray and say "OK, we'll put more money in the contract, but only if EVERY time you fumble the ball, we take away $100k...if you lose the fumble, it's an extra $150k ($250 total for lost fumbles); you OK with that Mr Murray? No? OK, then tell me how you solve for that before we give you more money...and while you are at it, let's talk about the definition of a 16 game schedule"

btw, love him and hope they sign him to something reasonable

All I will say is this...if they think ANYONE can run behind this OL...then why don't the other guys ever get in the game. Especially with all the fumbling Murray has done. I do not want to overpay....but you cannot work the man like a Mule..and then don't pay him. For me, this is embarrassing!

Since there's a significant way to go before Murray's contributions this year are in the books, I would assume Dallas might be waiting to determine what they consider Murray's true worth to be and/or not be. There are still some lingering questions yet to be answered as to whether or not he'll be able to physically sustain his health, despite the heavier workload he's been subjected to this season. It's hard to say what the FO will come up with in terms of prospective offers to be made in the future. Whatever it is will likely be made with their cap finances clearly in mind, however -- tough to guess what Jerry and Stephen might consider excessive, as opposed to fair.

If Randle's reps start to increase, then I think that will tell us a lot regarding if Murray has pushed back behind the scenes regarding the offer.

But this is how a team stays out of trouble cap wise. It's a smart move. Might suck a little, but it's for the better going forward.

I wouldn't have a problem with him getting something like $5 million a year. I think the corners are very replaceable in this system and we've overpaid Carr and Claiborne needs to go to the scrap heap. We can then get away with paying much less at the corner position. We could probably think about getting rid of Lee because he can't stay on the field.

The length of the contract is the bigger concern for me. But, I do think the Cowboys should drive a pretty hard bargain. It's a league that no longer drafts RB's in the first round, so Murray doesn't have a lot of leverage.

How many of these examples by Norm have stood shoulder to shoulder with Jim Brown and OJ Simpson?

By standing "shoulder to shoulder" with those legends, you mean that Murray matched their record of 5 straight 100-yard games to start a season, right?

That's a weak basis upon which to suggest that Murray is somehow their equal. One might as well suggest that all RBs that have had 5 straight 100-yard performances (regardless of when in the season) stand "shoulder to shoulder" with Brown and Juice, since the fact that they did it during the first 5 games of the season really adds nothing to the accomplishment.

Either way, this team doesn't necessarily need a Jim Brown or an OJ Simpson to compete for a title. Accordingly, thinking you may have such a guy on your hands doesn't yet justify paying him the exorbitant salary such a guy commands.

The fact that you do not recognize the difference is pretty much a conversation ender. You are closed to the idea that everyone is unique and are capable of doing unprecedented acts. Only one on your list that I take over Murray RIGHT now is Dickerson, and only if still in his prime. Davis was the epitome of system back and was even more injury prone than Murray. Murray has always had the talent, just hampered by injuries and most importantly, opportunity.

Murray has been successful under THREE different play callers, can't say same about either Randle or Dunbar. Murray rushed for over 5 yds/carry and over 1000 yards. Yet Cowboys were ranked 31 of 32 teams in rushing attempts.

and YOU are willing to risk huge money on the POSSIBILITY that Murray can keep this up when his HISTORY says otherwise; and the history of 90%+ of other running backs disagree.

Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and the few others in their class are all time greats. As BP would say, put away the anointing oil.

I hope we keep Murray. I honestly think he's going to be the best back in the league the next few years with the way the line is set up for him. 4-5 mil a year is probably about all he can get. I hope we actually do sign him for about that much.

As I've said before, bring up Williams and slowly intro him into the offense and see what he's got. If Murray was a home run threat, I'd pay him, but he's not.

He's going to want to get paid. He doesn't have many big pay days left, considering the life span of running backs. I say let him get that pay day with some other team. We can get Gurley of Georgia or the back from Wisconsin. No need to break the bank on Murray.

Since when is 4mill/yr NOT getting paid?
