I agree with you. we all have our own opinions about what we would do in those situations but my point Is that Garrett had to make those decisions and he was right each time his critics never remember those things they have an amazing amnesia.

I donna understand the indignation. Like in real life, someone does his job and the manager does not issued a pay raise. He do something wrong and it is magnified. That is the whey it work in the real world and in the NFL. So why the posturing and the nader-nader-nader. Totally uncalled for.

All good points. But you have to remember, the Red homers have had 3 years of the Process looking shaky, while they have kept banging the Red drum. The more the Process looked stuck in the mud, the more they dug in as Red was criticized, both rightfully and wrongfully so for various things. They have felt like victims. Disenfranchised. Ridiculed. Often ignored. This is vindication for them. Its a time to say, "we told all of you blind bats" who werent willing to see.

Who should get all the credit for the turnaround is debatable, but ONE thing we all know is that it is totally different this year. So what changed? Are we to assume that its ALL the Process and it just finally clicked after 3 1/2 years of little if any progress? And even more like 6-7 years for the offense to finally click and cut out the dumb mistakes/penalties and play consistently?

The answer is that NONE of us really know what all contributed to what we have seen so far this year, but we do know its totally different than the past.

I think it is a complete stretch to now say "the process worked". Nothing in the past ever looked as if the process was working, nor was there any indication that it was working.
It is not like we have been seeing improvement week to week, game to game, season after season.

Instead, it has been the same mistakes, similar blunders, .. losing games we shouldn't, .. always going 8-8.

This has all come out of nowhere.

Several things have fallen into place this season:
Linehan has been great with play calling and sticking to the run.
Marinelli has been great working with what he has.
Rolando McClain has brought an 'attitude' to the defense, and the run-first mentality has brought an 'attitude' to the offense.
Garrett has been great as the "leader of men", and as the walk around coach. He is a personality that commands respect, and I think the players trust him and are behind him.
Our recent drafts have been good and that is showing.

But other than the drafts and our other accumulation of talent, .. this has not been brewing, and growing, and getting better as the results of some process.

56 yard fg in Seattle.
Punt from the Giants 40 with a yard to go for a first down
49 yard fg to seal the game. If they miss Giants have great field position.

Garrett was 3 for 3.

Just remember that the next time you say he made a mistake. Funny how those tough but correct calls always get forgotten.

I understand the point you're making. And many of us have had to admit that Garrett is doing a good job. Really, better than a good job. And if you look back at my recent posts, I have admitted that he deserves many compliments.

But as far as these 3 particular decisions. Isn't he paid to get them right? I know if I went to my boss every time I did something right, he'd tell me to get the hell out of his office and that he is paying me to get it right and he expects nothing less.

Again, I have zero complaints with Garrett this year. And honestly, I gotta give Jerry credit too. Not only for sticking with Garrett, but also for the recent drafts of offensive linemen. He nailed them. And to whoever made the decision to give Rob Ryan the boot, they get credit for that too. (I was against the move)

But as far as in game decisions, I think we should be able to expect that the right calls are going to be made.

Of course. That is part of a coach "doing a good job." Now, if we expect a coach is going to bat .1000 on these we would be crazy wrong. My only point was that we have fans who remember all of his "gaffs" (many of which, as I already said, have been exaggerated or distorted), but not the excellent decisions he has made.

Obviously things come together in ways planned and not planned. That is the state of every NFL success story ever written. Jimmy and Jerry didn't plan for the Vikings to come trotting along with their offer for Walker. They didn't PLAN in advance for plan B free agency that landed them Jay Novacek. They didn't PLAN in advance that key pieces to two Super Bowl teams, Haley and Deion Sanders (for 1995) would end up signing with them. Things COME TOGETHER. But the trajectory, the culture, the attitude, the vision for what KIND of team you want, is set by the head coach. That is a process.

Haters.... you have been processed :)
Giants.... you have been processed
Commanders.... you are about to be processed

I guess after 3 years of Garrett call out threads, you've earned the right to make some of your own. But it does get tiring being called out after a win for lacking 'faith' in the past.

He is doing very well this year and I hope his success continues, as I am a much happier fan when the Cowboys are winning. But I really don't appreciate the public shaming that occurs after each win to prove you were 'right' all along. We're all fans here, no need to turn on each other in a 6 game win streak that has seen record broken.

Thank you. In any sport, at any position or coaching rank you can wait years until what you want happens and then say "see!!!" The same thing happened in Houston with Kubiak for 2 years. It happens to QBs, RBs, coaches, owners, etc. Are Jerry Jones fans crowing after 18 years? It makes no sense to me. Are you a fan or are you a fan of being right? The things that happened the last 4 years actually happened. They are FACT and the owner admitted to it. What is happening this year is FACT and is showing a growth and difference in players and coaches between those years and now. It's quite simple.

If there isn't a massive majority that likes what JG, the players, etc are doing this year then something is wrong. I'm happy as can be.

Whats so impressive about that? Garrett didn't punt that ball. Garrett didn't even kick the 49 yard fg to seal the game and he didn't kick the 56 yarder in Seattle as well. Im sorry to be blunt but those are players that went out their and executed what they needed to do. If something went wrong with the play Garrett should not have been blamed for it. More so than him getting credited for TWill catching a TD or Murray running for a first down.

That INT that Romo threw wasn't the fault of Garrett right? That was Romo's fault. So is the same thing with the missed field goal in the Texans game. That was Bailey and Bailey's alone. Not Garrett.

People often stated that it was the lack of talent on the field that Garrett wasn't able to do what he wanted to do. Fair enough. But you can't have it both ways that now that talent is there and the team is executing what their supposed to be doing. Garrett can't take credit for all that talent executing can he?

But this is not to nitpick and criticize Garrett. I think Garrett and the coaches did a great job and prepared well for this game. They had a plan and they stuck to it. How many here love the fire in Marinelli? He was on the sidelines swearing and cussing and being pissed off about everything. I'm glad his our def. coordinator.

I also loved that Linehan and Romo and talking things through and looking at the clipboard. They seem to have a great coach to player relationship going.

Lastly, hats of to Garrett. He has this team firing on all cylinders. I love how he is part of the game and cheering his players and congratulating them at every play. Those things go mostly un-noticed but plays a big part on what teamwork is all about.

Most of all Garrett seemed every engaged in this game. That challenge on that spot was awesome. Also the way we challenged that fumble which was classic and it was a bad call. It was well done and HE made sure that refs didn't think they were dealing with a robot on the sidelines. Those two things impressed me the most about him during this game and he should be credited for playing his part in beating the Giants.

I think you make some outstanding points. But sorry, someone has to make the decision to either trot a kicker out to TRY that 56 yarder, or send out a punter. That is a coaching decision. Then, when the player executes, hoorah for both.

In this case, I'm a fan of both. Been watching the Cowboys since 1970 (44 years). By the way, the whole last 4 years thing.... turnarounds take time. It's a process.

Great, I've been watching since the mid 70s...39 years. We are on par. I can name about every play from the 1977 SB against Denver and the 78 Steeler one. It doesn't matter. As for your last sentence...that is not true in todays NFL. Teams turn it around every year. And before you start on a "JG hater" spiel to me, I don't hate JG. I disliked his style the last 2 1/2 years. I'm an equal opportunity supporter. I have backed up Romo for years but I also admit he's thrown away big games. I'm glad JG is doing well now but I saw him do horrible things for years. I just try and stay even keel. You say your a fan of both but you weren't "right" for years. You have to excuse fans who didn't have faith when there was one playoff win in 18 years. As you know being a long time fan there was a 25 year stretch of winning records in the 60s-80s and a small blip before making it back in the 90s. The failure has been deep over the last 18 years so no one should be throwing around "right." You constantly writing these things is alienating fans, not proving anything. "Right" is fluid in the NFL and can change on a dime.

:)...k Look, I respect you as a fellow long-time fan HF. Really do, mean that sincerely. And I have been as frustrated as you over that last 20 years. I think we have a shot here at some long term winning. Really do. And long term turnarounds (i.e., rebuilding rosters) don't happen in short order.

If this was a process that came to fruition, ... somebody, ... SOMEBODY, would have seen this coming.

Nobody saw this coming.

This is more like they realized that the 4 yr process was not working so, .. "let's try something else."

It's also a little offensive to be called a hater, .. you couldn't be more wrong.
