I was never a Garrett supporter, but this passed preseason I started noticing something that I hadn't seen before. I think in a few years he will be a Coach among Coaches, one to really be respected and admired by up and coming coaches and coach hopefuls. I am very proud of Jason Garrett this year. He really deserves the praises he is getting.:)

Somewhere you mentioned that you would be excited to see Tony Romo coaching with Garrett when he retires, it may be in this thread. I agree with you 100%. As I was watching his presser today on DC.com, it did feel almost like I was watching a coach. I have often hoped over the years that when Tony retires he will be a coach, rather than a professional golfer, I think as a coach he would be great. Witten is another one. He has got to be a coach for us when he retires. But only for us. No one else.:p

I like what you said about "making a team out of a bunch a guys". Now that's saying something.
Don't worry about Tony taking up golf, his back won't be able to bare it.

Agreed, way way way less false start penalties then in previous years. Used to kill us at least 3-4 times per game it seemed.

Yes, hate to rub my hands together and make Dr. Evil sounds (Austin Powers movies), lol, but I am kind of evil-ly hoping, lol, that since his pro golf career is pretty much over post football, if maybe he will just consider a coaching career with us. Oh, I feel the pinkie finger going up to the corner of my mouth, he will be a great coach. hmhmhmhm.

Yes, that was one thing that I have been jealous about when watching other teams play, for too many years now. Other teams played like a unit, a well oiled machine. It was like when one inhaled, another one exhaled. They just meshed and stood up for each other. They had each others' backs. Our team wasn't like that. Our team was just a bunch of guys out there giving a half assed effort, except for a small handful that gave their best, collecting paychecks and seemingly not giving a crap if they won or lost. Hell, just last year certain players (I won't mention who) were trying to shut Dez up on the sidelines, when Dez was trying to pump the team up and inspire them to want to win. Don't see that this year. Aint nobody shutting Dez up this year! And nobody tried to shut OScan up last week either. You know what happened? We won. Our team is really meshing this year, really playing for each other, sticking up for each other when disrespected by opponents, calling each other out when playing badly and celebrating together when one of us scores, really responding to each other, playing like a real Unit. Our team's got each others' backs this year. Acting like a real family. I love it.

Another good thing Jason has imprinted on his team is the offense will consist of a multitude of weapons week to week working off the QB #1Rec & RB.

We all thought Wade's process was working in 2007. I would like to see more. Extend him and see what happens. Let's keep in mind that other coaches have produced better results in a shorter time period, with less talented teams. Let's also remember he has been here since 2007.

He's done a very good job in turning over the roster and building the foundation of this team with the Oline. To think, once we address the Dline and add pieces we'll be seeing more 10+ win seasons.
 
Wait, we're supposed to praise the coach when his returner sees they messed up and left a guy uncovered?

Or for professional football players knowing to recover the loose kickoff?

He rebuilt the team, he did it while he was OJT. Talk about handicapped.
I don't know a nother living soul who could do all that and not know what

I think you hit on the main point of contention with Garrett...............OJT....................a large segment of the fanbase believed that you don't train a head coach on the job, you hire a head coach who is ready to hit the ground running day one.

Like you just said, Garrett was learning how to be a head coach while playing actual games and he messed up and made mistakes, I don't think anybody can sit here today and say Garrett did not make some crucial game management mistakes that directly contributed to loses.

Both Jerry and Stephen have even alluded to that saying that the "growing pains" with Garrett and the "mistakes" he made is a significant reason they do not want to get rid of him. They don't want another team to get the benefit of the mistakes Garrett learned from.

So yes, 4 years into Garrett's training its finally starting to pay off, but the fact still remains that the mistakes he made first starting out contributed to losses and when we have missed the playoffs by one game for three consecutive years, Garrett shoulders a lot of the blame for that just like he should be praised for a successful season this year.
