Sarcasm: Let's face it Rodgers should be the NFL MVP this year

I hate to break it to you, Aaron Rodgers had an excellent year, and he clearly without a doubt, should be league MVP.

Look at these stats...

2nd overall in completion percentage
2nd overall in yards per attempt.
2nd overall in quarterback rating.

Clearly, he should be #1, the facts speak for themselves!

Unless I'm missing something.

Yeah you are missing something. TD'S and yards. It's a stat award as no big games have been played yet. If dallas beats green bay in the playoffs, Romo will win the MVP.

Watt should win it. Romo and Rodgers are having great years, but not unprecedented years for a QB. Watt is redefining his position and that's what it takes to win it as a non-qb/rb.

The MVP is just so heavily slanted towards QB and to a lesser extent, RB. I mean hell, Odelll Beckham Jr. might be more valuable to his team's success (what little they had) than Rodgers or Romo. They might have won one game the whole year without him.

Watt shouldn't sniff the MVP...no matter how good he is he will never have the impact a great QB has. Trade Watt for Rodgers or Romo and the Texans are in the playoffs while the Cowboys and Packers are outside looking in.

Since 2006 every qb who won the the MVP also lead the league in QBR. It would be a change from past voting precedent for Rodgers to win it over Romo. That's why I think Watt wins it.

Who led the league in qbr in 2008?

It'll be voted on before then.

I was ready to drop this on you, you sly dog. ;)

No sense letting it go to waste.

Brady had under 4,000 yards passing when he won the MVP in 2010. So no, passing yards are not much of a factor at all.

I thought it was handed out superbowl weekend? Why do they stop voting before all the games are played?

Because not all players make the playoffs. MVP is for regular season success, you don't continue counting every other stat after regular season ends, do you?

Plus, Rodgers heroically came back into the game with a sore calf. I don't know of any other QB who has had to play through injuries like that. What an inspiration to his teammates. Unprecedented leadership skills.

He had 4100 yards passing. Of course it matters. Most people look at yards and touchdowns first.

Rodgers 4381 38 TD'S 5 picks
Romo 3705 34 TD'S 9 picks

MVP is not a stat. They should take into account all games including the biggest ones, the playoffs.

I could care less about regular season accolades. Give me the Super Bowl MVP instead.....because in this day and age, I cannot see a player from the losing team winning the award ever again.

So Rodgers can have the regular season award, I want Romo to have the postseason award.

Romo missed a game.....and he also had the league's leading rusher, by a huge margin over number 2, and much bigger number over Lacy.

So are you saying Romo would have had more turnovers if he would have played all 16 games?

No, he did not. He had 3,900 yards passing in 2010. He won MVP in 2007 because of his absurd amount of TDs and breaking the record.

There is an MVP race, there are players discussed due to having a phenomenal year, some of those players don't make the playoffs. It's unfair to allow other candidates to continue to prove themselves when the other players don't advance.

MVP awards are based on stats. Stats in playoffs do not count as official statistics, that ends with the regular season.

based on the year he had, I am saying he would have had at least 250 more yds, 2 more TDs, and maybe 1 more int.

basically, what I am saying is this, had Romo stayed out of the Skins game, Weeden may led us to victory. Meanwhile, Romo could have gotten immediate medical attention on his back and probably been ready to go for the Cards game. If Romo plays in that game, I believe we would have had a much stronger chance at victory. The Cards wouldn't have loaded the box, meaning more running lanes for Murray. If they did load the box, Romo to Dez and Co. all game long.

Then again, had we beaten the Skins, even if Romo had not come back into the game, he would probably have been kept out against the Cards, since Weeden led us to victory against the Skins, and Romo needed time to heal.

What is Watt first in anyway?
