Patriots don't fit the paradigm

Belichick is just too good...that offensive scheme is all him. All those play designs to get their receivers open, the mismatches on LBs, etc. You're not supposed to be able to win throwing it 50 times but it works in that system compared to Peyton's offense.

The thing is, a lot of their passes are pretty much just extended run plays. How many times do they throw it out wide or 3 yards beyond the LOS? It's not like they are slinging it around all over like the 99 Rams and such.

The difference in them and us on offense is theirs is designed on scheme, finding the weaknesses and exploiting that. Ours is only based on individual guys winning their battles. And if they don't, well they are taken out of the game. It's been that way for so long now. While as the Patriots, they will find a different way to get their stars the ball if the defense is taking away the first way they wanted to try. We do not adjust.

Our receiving core just from a talent standpoint is better than NE's. We also have a better line and running game.

But our offensive gameplan is not on their level. We just allow teams to take away our best players too often.

Belichick is good, but let's see how good he is without Brady.

It's another example of a good/great coach growing or catching lightning in a bottle with a good/great QB, just like Starr/Lombardi, Noll/Bradshaw, Walsh/Montana, Johnson/Aikman, etc.

My guess is that when Brady retires, Belichick walks himself.

Lol.

Ya, Tom is nothing without Billl. Bill is nothing without Tom.

But I am sure if I was to look back at the all time greats. A QB and a Coach would be pretty close together.

However we are coming and will take the title from them.
Within tow maybe three years we'll win the Lombardy

  • 6th Round QB (Albeit possibly the greatest QB of all time)
  • Two small possession guys (Edelman and Amendola) as their WR1 and WR2
  • Their starting RB was picked up on waivers during the season and is basically a journeyman
  • Average OL
  • Average to slightly below average pass rush
  • Leading rusher had 412 yards for the season
I don't love the Patriots, I don't even like them, but it's hard not to admire so much about them.

That's the difference great coaching can make....

and bending a few rules. :D

Nitpicking, but Gronk is their WR1, regardless of what position he's listed at in the program. Blount is very talented, but has just been a knucklehead.

And they have best coach in the game, by a mile. That's all the paradigm you need.

And Brady is a great QB
That short passing game is ridiculous but it is because of Brady
It is also because the coach EXPECTS precision and execution from his players and no matter who you are (other than Brady) you will be benched if you make mistakes
It is a mindset

The "cheaters" argument is silly, really. It doesn't take away from what they've accomplished.
I disagree. If anything it shows to the younger generation of fans that cheaters do win and it doesn't matter because the latter is all that matters.

Are their coaches THAT good over there? Brady and Edelman were nothings coming in.

Belichick is defense, not offense. McDaniels does their offense. He came back to NE after being broken down as the Denver HC.

It shows the younger generation that grown *** adults would rather whine and call teams "cheaters" than just admit that they are good.

The whining from fans leading up to the SB is going to completely undermine the fact that this was a great, great football game between what was clearly the best two teams in the league.

The Pats make football interesting, if they are not cheating they are running crazy formations, using midget white, receivers as their first options, getting Flutie to take a drop goal, employing murderers, having LBs catch TDs, listing players as injured every week just in case they ever are, making trades they hardly ever seem to loose (Logan Mankins whateves), and generally getting involved in skullduggery and mischief. Now while I believe they have really benefited from playing in maybe the worst division in the NFL their ability to stay competitive has been astounding. The eventual Brady/Bellichick divorce will be just sumptuous to watch.

They went 11-5 with Matt Cassell one year. Didn't make the playoffs because of fluke seeding, but still.

I hear ya, but until he WINS a Super Bowl without Brady, I'll consider the whole better than the sum.

Here's a quote that kind of shows what's going on in New England. No TIVO where I'm at today, so I'll paraphrase:

"I got beat on that play in practice, and Bill told me I had to get on it, so I did."

- Malcolm Butler

Well, this argument is asinine. Most NFL coaches never win a Super Bowl. Even fewer have won multiple. Only 2 coaches have won 4. You can use your argument to defame any NFL head coach.

And they do it sending decent players down the road and keeping the Amaendolas of the NFL.

This, they spend but when they need to absorb cap hits they bring in 2nd tier FA and build around their strengths, when the cap rights itself they spend again. They are more apt to spend in the trenches and defensive backfield

What's everyone getting so fired up about? Geez.

I'm simply saying the two of the together is what makes it work, and IMO, while I think they are both good/great, I don't think they'd be as good without each other.

It's not that difficult of a concept.

Simmer down.

The whine "argument" is tired and trite. Just because a team is good doesn't exculpate them from being cheaters. They are two distinct classifications. Any unfair selective advantage granted to one of two comparable teams puts the other one at a disadvantage. That is why it is called "cheating". Duh.

What's tired is people constantly trying to undermine the Pats' success with the whole cheating thing. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that anything they've done, whether its filming or deflating, gave them any edge they needed to win. It's rhetoric for people who simply refuse to accept the fact that, since 2000 or so, the Pats have been the best team in the NFL, and it's not even close.

They undermined their own success by cheating, and there is plenty of evidence that they did so. The problem is the NFL is effectively a monopoly and they took care of it "in house", i.e. they burned the evidence. There is nothing an independent investigation can do about it. Unfortunately for the Pats, the evidence still exists and repetitive denials of it having no impact on their success is hogwash. If it didn't have the latter, then they wouldn't have done it.
