If the BPA is a WR that they believe could be better than Williams then absolutely they should. Why wouldn't you upgrade the spot if it's possible?

My point is...if a 1st round grade is there over a projected late 2nd round defensive guy, take the offensive player in most cases.

There is still more FA coming to address the defense and there will be some good players available. Dallas will not be able to really help the defense out in this draft with late round picks and slim pickins on that side of the ball. A secondary player would be nice too, it all depends on how the draft falls.

Okay I forgot about running back. I was thinking about receiver since the OP was talking about replacing Terrance. Okay yeah i'm not against running back being taken. I'd prefer to do it in the 2nd or 3rd round honestly but i'm not against that.

Did you know that 37 is better than ANY year Alvin Harper had with the Dallas Cowboys as their #2 WR?

And btw, just like with Alvin Harper, Williams isn't really the #2 on this team. Everyone knows that is Jason Witten, and back in the day it was Jay, so 37 isn't terrible for your #2 WR option on a team that was a run first team, and more importantly has a QB who understands the benefits of spreading the ball around and using everyone available to him.


If there is a way to upgrade the position, with a BPA on one of our picks, absolutely do it. As they should with each and every single position out there. But going out of their way to replace their #2 WR simply because he doesn't put up Dez Bryant numbers is stupid.
 
He is highly inconsistent and that is my biggest complaint. Other then that I would expect that we would be active seeking to replace any and all players > #2 at their positions.

Completely agree. Especially regarding the fact that the team has become run focused limiting receiving opportunities even further. This is a different type of Romo friendly team, less (but more efficient) passes, than years past. That said, if there is an opportunity to improve ANY position, you do it.
 
I suspect that, like most threads, perception is part of the issue here. For example, some might feel as if the 1st round is what is being discussed here with the addition of a WR, while others feel as if a lower round selection might be the answer. Some might feel as if Williams is the number 2 WR of the future while others might feel as if he is not the answer at the number 2 WR slot.

It's subjective but that's the fun of a message board. You can argue till the cows come home and nobody is really none the worse for wear at the end of the day. Pass the time in the off season!
 
You try to improve all positions, but I think his productivity is more of a reflection of the #2 receiver being so low on the offenses' read totem pole.
 
This thread is a little off-kilter. Williams may be listed as the #2 wide receiver on the depth chart, but he is definitely not the second receiving option. Witten and Beasley get a huge amount of looks from Romo.

Williams is just fine as the number two wide receiver. I think some of you guys are digging for fools gold.

Having said that WR isn't a priority... But... Well... BPA
 
the only complaint i have with TWill is he is a body catcher. I dont like those type of WR's

For the most part, he has solid hands. I haven't seen a concentration drop yet. Williams struggles with passes when he is forced to use his hands outside the framework of his body in traffic:

I have always told people this. He's a body catcher. He sucks. Yeah he gets a few big plays. But we need consistency.

LR wasn't all world but he got the job done and was consistent. I'd trade Williams and a 3rd round pick to get back the LR we had before jax killed him.

That's how terrible twill is. He's holding us back.
 
so long as Dez is playing year to year, drafting a receiver in round one is playing with fire.

he could easily take that as an attack against good faith contract negotiations
