Romo re-structuring has nothing to do with Greg Hardy . Maybe they'd like to re-sign spencer and kick around the Vikings for peterson.

It has to be paid as the season rolls along. 500k+ has to be AVAILABLE on the books for EACH week Hardy plays. It's not a "bill due at the end of the season" situation. Again, try and keep up

Not true. No one ever provided proof that this was the case. It does say it has to be "paid" as each week goes along, but it doesn't say that there has to be cap room. It actually does say that NLTBE incentives CAN be pushed to the following year. Hardy's per game bonus incentive is classified as NLTBE.

As far as the way I read it, we don't have to have the cap room for Hardy this year. If we do have available cap room when we start paying out the bonuses, those payments would deduct from whatever cap room we have available. If we reach zero cap room available, then whatever overages count against next years cap.

How that's all managed throughout the year is a different story. How much we want to have available throughout the year is the question. More importantly, how much do we want available at the end of the year.

Nope don't have to do nothing. Vikings have no leverage and definitely are not going to pay him 13M forcing them to release him eventually.

Have no leverage? I'd say AP earning $13 mil is leverage.

So basically Stephan Jones was running things 1st half of FA and established salary cap responsibility. Jerry having mini convulsions from not making a splash finally puts his crown back on and declares his way of doing things is way more fun. Stephan back into corner with his pants pulled down. Did I get that right?

Yup. From what I'm hearing the coaches didn't want him back. But someone, cough, Jerry, cough, wanted him back.

Well, kinda. What you're really getting is Fishspeak. That's what's known as not knowing what the hell you're talking about but having a running narrative in which you throw **** against a wall, back track, throw it back against a wall, backtrack again, act like you know what you're talking about, charge a premium for even more baseless bull**** and when the whole situation comes to it's end, you then cherry pick the sticking points in your previous week's worth of babble to indicate that you, indeed, had it correct when the reality was that you had no ******* clue of what you were talking about but it got some poor ******* to subscribe to you premium content to learn, literally, nothing. That's Fishspeak (in a nutshell).

Oh, absolutely, but I can't see Minnesota letting him go for a 7th and Peterson is on the record saying he wants his money. I don't think there's any way Peterson will sign a one-year deal and I don't think he'll play for $6M a year and modest guarantees.

In that case, I'm in your camp. (I'm not so sure that Minny won't let him go for a 7th, however -- there's no way they want to pay him $13M this season -- or that Peterson won't play on a contract that properly acknowledges his advanced age.)

This is for Hardy, another signing, draft picks and keeping Carr. This not for Adrian Peterson.

Seems pretty basic, but I guess people can dream (or smoke crack)

I'd never say never with Dallas, but not one thing they've done this offseason tells me they want to tie up 60 million in the RB position over the next 3 years.

That doesn't add up. Operating at $0 in cap space during the season because of not accounting for bonus incentives is not something a professional NFL franchise would do.

AP would be the #1 jersey sold in the league if he came to Dallas.

I'm sure Jerry realizes that.

But this draft is full of real good RB's.

I'm gonna be disappointed when you try to tell me anything because you have no idea what you're talking about!

Fisher has lost all credibility. He has no idea what the Cowboys are doing and his source is having a laugh at him.

Jerry had to make a payment on his credit card....:muttley:

Well there is more to this Romo restructuring then any of us know in this forum. Something is up, and with Jerry as we all know everything is possible.

Well in either case, AP is never really off the table and now Dallas has more money to use on draft day instead of after June 1st. This just opens up the draft day trade scenario's a bit more.

One thing that was mentioned was that since AP did not play last year, he could fit into a Hardy type deal with all the NLTBE incentives hitting during the year if he was open to it.

Seems like the next logical options to free up cash would be Carr post June 1st cut, Claiborne trade and Dez long term deal.

Right, but none of those things have to happen anytime soon since the Cowboys now have money that they can use if they want to. One of the beauties of the Hardy deal is not having to account for his bonus money now. That gives Dallas some flexibility. They can just hold onto the money and use it to pay Hardy or spend the money if needed and make another move at a later date to account for Hardy.

Maybe, maybe not.

If Hardy gets a 4 game suspension, we don't start paying him until week 7. Two weeks were deemed likely to be earned and have already been included in the contract. We could keep 4mil on hand for the start of the season up through week 7. To cover injuries etc. Starting week 7 we start paying Hardy his weekly bonus, rough 500grand per. So that buys us a couple more weeks at least if someone else should get hurt.

The gamble is do you want to end the last month of the year with no cap space? That means you'd be locked in with the current roster. Tough call. But they could do it that way. That would free up some of this money to do whatever they wanted to.
