News: Romo restructured according to the FAN

Forget fiscal responsibility as the primary concern. Dallas trying to win a SB has to be tied to Romo's career, otherwise it doesn't matter how much money they have when they got no franchise QB.

AP would be the #1 jersey sold in the league if he came to Dallas.

I'm sure Jerry realizes that.

But this draft is full of real good RB's.

Keep in mind, also, that the Cowboys are the ONLY team in the league that sells their wares independent of the league. They still have to throw in "their share" of the revenue sharing but sales above and beyond are all Dallas Cowboys'. Jerry knows a cash cow when he sees one.

Not true. No one ever provided proof that this was the case. It does say it has to be "paid" as each week goes along, but it doesn't say that there has to be cap room. It actually does say that NLTBE incentives CAN be pushed to the following year. Hardy's per game bonus incentive is classified as NLTBE.

As far as the way I read it, we don't have to have the cap room for Hardy this year. If we do have available cap room when we start paying out the bonuses, those payments would deduct from whatever cap room we have available. If we reach zero cap room available, then whatever overages count against next years cap.

How that's all managed throughout the year is a different story. How much we want to have available throughout the year is the question. More importantly, how much do we want available at the end of the year.

When Adam tells you that you are wrong about cap issues, you should listen

Dallas has to have another 8m available for Hardy's 580k per game incentives. Those are pay as you go, which means weekly.

What bothers me most about Fisher is that he acts like he's super hooked up with sources for the Cowboys, and he isn't... and then he has the gall to act like it is really good inside info and charge people for it.

The guy has literally been wrong about nearly everything this season and when he does get it right it comes from someone else who really did break the news. I have seen zero evidence that he has a good source inside Valley Ranch.

Throw in that he constantly links tweets to "premium" articles in a thinly veiled attempt at getting money and I'm not too impressed with him at the moment.

Preach it.

Why does a trade keep being discussed? First off, it will go against EVERYTHING we have been doing this offseason and previous. The small contracts, the building through the draft.

And lastly, Peterson is going to be released in May. The Vikings will not be keeping a $12 million dollar RB that is unhappy in Minnesota.

A trade isn't going to happen, I know the offseason is boring, but Peterson is not coming here through a trade.

Keep in mind, it's tampering for the Cowboys to even comment on Peterson.

I'm not saying this move means he's coming here. I don't think it's related. But disregard any reports of what "Cowboy sources say" because they simply can't comment on him without violating rules.

Skeptical that we would take a contract that was designed to be restructured and do exactly that?

Well, I know to believe Jerry Jones as much as a politician running for office, but, I sort of believed him in that they didn't want to hurt the future cap wise by restructuring every contract. Thought after the letting Murray sign with the Eagles, signing Hardy to a play to get paid contract and re-signing McClain to a fair deal we wouldn't restructure Romo's deal to the tune of 13 million,

not sure how the tampering rules apply as regards peterson considering he is still on the exempt list. But who knows really?

Deserves to be revisited.

Dallas needed 8m for Hardy, 3m for McClain, 2m for draft picks, 2m to get the full 53 and more left over for the IR, practice squad, any replacemets and a 3-4m cushion.

The Romo restructure was coming the minute they signed Hardy

They can still get cap space a few ways

Romo restructure...............13m
Witten restructure.................3m
Carr paycut...........................4m
Carr June 1st cut..................8m(not released until June 2nd)
Dez signs long term............4-6m
Cut Dunbar/CJones.............3m

Adam never said any such thing. But here is what he did say.

"The weekly roster bonuses get paid weekly and get added to the cap each week. If we run out of cap room before the end of the season and don't have room for his weekly bonuses, we also wouldn't be able to sign anyone off the street to cover for injuries. The team wouldn't let that happen -- they'd make room for his roster bonuses and more."

Do you have a source?

Link?

I believe Broaddus mentioned it. Maybe it was Fisher. Don't know how much stock I put into it, but there were obviously concerns of some sort otherwise he would have been signed sooner and for a longer contract.

Fisher has lost all credibility. He has no idea what the Cowboys are doing and his source is having a laugh at him.

Seriously!

And who would possibly pay to hear his baseless, source-less nonsense?

This is the ticket, ladies and gentlemen. My spidey senses tell me that the Cowboys have gotten word from the league that Greg Hardy's suspension, if anything at all, will not be as substantial as the media idiots have been throwing around.

With those incentives being worth up to $8M+ ($11M total contract value, estimated), you have to have the cap room to pay them out - that money isn't off the money tree in Jerry's back yard. With the addition of Rolando it only makes even more sense to add a little more flexibility.

That means they have to pay weekly.

The first payment they miss, the roster is frozen.

There is no point in doing it your way. It has to be paid when earned.

This is NO different then what a lot of teams have been successful doing in baseball.

Anybody think the Frorida Marlin fans were complaining after there the World Series trophy, when they broke up the team right after? Nope!

Plus if you can get a rookie QB in here on a low contract, but is good much like Russell, Kap, etc. your cap will be cleared up by the time he is due to get paid.

I have very little understanding of the Cap and how it works. etc etc. All the loop holes, etc etc.

But from what I read, on here, and other forums and articles, no one ever mentioned restructuring Romo in order to pay Hardy and Ro....In fact, the argument was made that there wouldn't be a restructuring of Romo this year.....at all. I'm sure some did mention it, but the line that Romo would have to restructure because of the Hardy signing and draft picks, and Ro, was barely mentioned...

And we know nothing can be commented on AP becuase of tampering rules, and that AP/APs agent , the Vikings, and teams that may be interested in AP , are all playing this negotiation game; "The Dance".

ummmm.. These tweets about what its for or what its not for, I dont trust.......no matter who its coming from; one thing is fact. We just restructured Romo and freed up 13mil....
