La'el Collins Thread - Cleared post 767; visited Cowboys - 05/06/15

They already moved Dotson to RT and handed Donovan Smith the starting LT tackle job. And they would hand it to Collins instead if he signed.

Agree. But would now Smith sit on the bench? If so, I'm sure they wish they could have a do over and select someone else. A high 2nd sitting on the bench would not be good with as many needs as they have.

Once more, thinking to a level of detail that is highly unlikely.

These other teams have players in the middle of three and four year deals, but they are on shaky ground because they are replaceable.

Yet, he is going to go to the trouble of saying, I can just wait a year for Leary's deal to run out? It is about where he can go where even in worst case scenario, he starts, right now, sight unseen. Not a place where in a worse case scenario where he might have to compete.

He wants to go where he will play right now. The sooner he plays and shows his value, the farther along he is on his way to getting the contract money he lost by not getting drafted in the first round.

Could you explain how he's given the LT spot at Miami when they have Branden Albert a guy who refused a move from LT when he was at KC? Or at Tampa Bay where they drafted Donovan Smith in the 2nd round this year to play LT?

Let's hope the Giants don't get him, that would really suck but they don't have a spot open for him either.

So what was the answer to my question? How many years does Leary have left on his deal?

How difficult a task would it be to replace undrafted free agent Ron Leary?

No, no he can't. The examples were not thought through before he gave them.

No team could clear him until a Doctor does it. That process can happen in a season. If Robinson really wanted to play, he would be in the league now if he wanted to do that. He elected to retire, rather then rehab and come back.

It doesn't really matter. His situation has nothing to do with Collins.

Read his own words, he wanted to play, the team doctors wouldn't clear him.

One Albert suffered an injury and is not certain to be back and ready. Two Donovan Smith could be shifted to guard as Tampa is interested in getting their five best on the field.

If you don't think Miami or Tampa Bay will cut it you can add Carolina to the top of the list then. Trai Turner is reaching out to him.

Good idea after your examples went down the toilet, just randomly name some other team.

(Just as long as it's not Dallas.)

I can see him stepping in and being the LT for Carolina. They drafted Daryl Williams to be the RT.

How does an associate he hasn't seen in 6 months getting murdered mean he lives on the edge or is a headcase? Every single report says exactly the opposite of what you're selling. You're making completely erroneous statements and treating them like fact.

Because maybe he is? You on the other hands is sure he is a choir boy. good luck with dat, jack. and every NFL team passed on this sterling individual. So you see, maybe you should reconsider. but you won't.

It was already answered by another poster.

How difficult a task would it be to replace undrafted free agent Ron Leary?

Explain why he would think that was better opportunity than beating out on any of the teams he has actually had some contact with?

You honestly think that he would take each team and go "oooh, Ron Leary, he is terrible, I am going there!"[/quote]

Nothing random about it. All of these teams have had either coaches or players legitimately recruiting Collins.

There is nothing to say Dallas is even remotely interested unless you believe Rapoport's report. According to him, Dallas is "interested" in everybody.

Actually, I would like to read his words. Do you have a link that provide them?

"Teams were very interested in me, but with my concussion history some of the doctors wouldn't pass me on a physical because of the risk," the 29-year-old Robinson said. "I hate to say it's over, but I have to accept the fact it's over.

"Teams aren't thinking about me anymore. They are moving on to younger, healthier guys. That's the nature of the business."

Thanks again for not answering it.

Because it's Ron Leary! A good player on a great line. Ron Leary, who Dallas has no intention to give a long term deal to. Ron Leary, who has a degenerative knee condition. Ron Leary, on the last year of his contract, a contract that guarantees nothing! Ron Leary, the guy the Cowboys hoped to replace with Collins' linemate Trai Turner last year!

If this guy is scared of having to beat out either Leary or Free, maybe the NFL just isn't for him?
