I have watched him on TNA a few times. He's excellent.

And I hear he's on the decline.

If that is declining he must have been one of the best.

Yes, no question that Angle is still really good. True Olympic gold medal for the USA. He dropped out of professional wrestling to start training for another Olympics tryout but got injured or something. He's also always been one of the better microphone guys in my opinion.

WWE should jump all over him.

WWE should jump all over him.

Before he resigned with TNA last year Angle supposedly approached HHH and Vince about returning. HHH was cool to the idea but Vince dismissed him and never gave it a second thought. Angle signed with TNA and then vowed he wouldn't return to WWE again. Now when I see some of the stiffs getting air time on Raw it really gets on my last nerve that Vince actually turned away better talent. Makes no damn sense.

I think it's obvious Vince has become bad for business. They need to let HHH run things.

The fact Vince could have any of the TNA wrestlers he wanted and has taken very few.

Reportedly Angle has two bad knees.

I think the name "TNA" is dopey. Which is just the start of the credibility problems the company has.

It won't hurt the business if TNA folds. They really aren't or haven't brought anything new to the table. Just sort of a revamped WCW... the worst part of WCW.

But really the whole business is in kind of a slump.

Kurt Angle Talks About Not Signing With WWE And If He Has Issues With Triple H, Slammiversary
By Raj Giri | May 23, 2015

The Mirror has an interview with TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle, who was promoting the upcoming Slammiversary pay-per-view next month. Below are a couple of highlights:

If the reason he didn't go back to WWE was because of differences with Triple H:

"I don't think so, I don't think that Triple H and I have any problems with each other, I've always liked him. He's always treated me with respect and I've always treated him the same. No, I don't think it was that. There was a point when my manager talked to them and I believe they did say 'he would have to wrestle full-time'. That is not an option for me, not at this point in my career. So, whether that was part of it, honestly I just don't think they had that much interest in signing Kurt Angle at that point. For whatever reason, it could have been my mishaps in my past, it could have been that they didn't think I was healthy enough to go - and obviously I am - but we never got a full answer of why they couldn't give me what I wanted. And it wasn't just what I wanted, it was a reduced schedule, but there was no option.

"Dixie Carter gave me exactly what I wanted and it wasn't a hard decision. I wasn't upset, I was excited about signing another year with TNA. I think they did an incredible job this year. They had to refocus, they had to re-group, they had some issues in the past, and I think they've done an incredible job of making their way back. Are they back to what they were? No. But they're on their way and they're doing so many good things right now that make me excited about being part of the company."

At 46, I can imagine a full time schedule with WWE would not be appealing. That's a lot of traveling, especially with a family at home.

I can't imagine a Lou Thesz or Dory Funk Jr or a Harley Race or a Ric Flair saying "OK, I'll be World Champ IF I can wrestle a part-time schedule."

I don't know who those guys are but I bet that's exactly what Brock said...

he's not even part time though...he's less than that.

he's once in a blue moon wrestling

It is "Once in a blue moon wrestling" and it completely destroys the credibility of the champion and the belt.

I completely agree. I've been schooled on the days when Punk was champ & that's apparently a thing of the past.

I'd LOVE if my boy Seth stayed champ for a good while but I know better.

In Ric Flair's book I read that when he was champion, he wrestled more 365 times a year. There were many cases where there would be afternoon show and then he would drove 2 hours to make an evening show somewhere else or he would do a TV match in the morning and then have to be at a big show that evening.

And many of his matches weren't the 8-12 minute affairs we see today. In one 10 day stretch he wrestled 10, 1 hour matches with Ricky Morton of the "Rock & Roll Express".

The NWA champion always had a heavy wrestling schedule. At one point Nick Bockwinkle, the former AWA Champion, had the opportunity to be considered for the NWA Championship but looked at the schedule he would have to wrestle and begged off.

That was a lot of it yeah. The shear loneness of the road. Lots of alcohol problems... drug problems... And good luck maintaining a happy marriage.

it's definitely a hard luck lifestyle. I'm sure they do alright financially but you have to really love that to do that night after night.

If anyone wants to "get" a taste of what wrestling was in the late 70's get this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Main-Event-Wo...32560520&sr=1-7&keywords=wrestling+main+event

I remember Vince pimping it with the author on the weekly WWWF TV show.

It sets the stage for many of the great performers of the 80's and even beyond.

It also has a nice "History of Wrestling" with a history of the main title changes up to the date the book was published (1979).
