Well I agree they SHOULD be. But i've learned never to assume with the NFL. Like I said in another post though, if there was a position to have a season ending injury to.......it was corner. But they are going to need Carr to be what he was 2 years ago and Claiborne to finally hit his potential or atleast take some solid steps into getting there. Patmon and White should be solid and Jones is a rookie so he'll take his bumps this year.

Yes, I agree with all of that. These guys have no choice. It's time to step up.

So instead of 6 cb's with Scandrick, do we stick with 5 or keep one of the cb's we signed for camp (heard 2 were playing well by Broaddus awhile back) to remain at 6? If we stay at 5, it gives us another spot to keep an extra DT/DE or another safety.

Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick's MRI on Tuesday night confirmed he suffered a torn ACL and MCL.

Scandrick's season is over. In his prime at 28, Scandrick was easily the Cowboys' best corner, and it now leaves Brandon Carr, Morris Claiborne, and first-rounder Byron Jones atop the depth chart. Carr has been a colossal free-agent bust, Claiborne is coming off a torn patellar tendon, and Jones is working his way back from an early-camp shoulder issue after battling shoulder problems in college. Scandrick signed a contract extension in the spring and is inked through 2019.

His personal life seemed too turbulent, messing with his performance and mojo on the field. This injury isn't a surprise to me.

All that negative energy surrounding him with the molly abuse, the holdout, and his fiancée could only lead to some snapped up ligaments.

Unfortunate injury. Hate any of these young men on any team getting injured. Glad that OScan was able to redo his deal prior to this though..had he waited until in season he would be short right now.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/08/25/report-scandrick-out-for-season-with-torn-acl/

Cornerback Orlando Scandrick was carted off the practice field Tuesday, and Pro Football Talk has confirmed that one of Cowboys’ top defenders is done for the season with a torn ACL.

Mike Garofolo of FOX Sports was first to report it. Tuesday night, Cowboys secondary coach Jerome Henderson told reporters that Scandrick told him he knew he had torn his ACL.

The non-contact injury came after Scandrick had two interceptions in practice.

CB play is only as good as the passrush is. If the passrush is improved the CB spot will be fine without him.

This is pretty much the dumbest thing I've read in a long time.

This sucks-

Jerry gets burned again when he goves a guy with multiple years left on his contract more money because he played well- this is a huge injury- Scandrick will never be the same again.

ACL and MCL, how the hell does that even happen? Did they bend his knee from one side to the other to make sure they tear up everything in there? I don't even think you could get that done if you TRIED. I hate our preseason/offseason practices. Every year it seems like one big name. Waters, Lee, Scandrick in 3 straight years now. I'm sure I've missed a bunch more.

I'm glad to see the positive posts. They are correct. I see white and Patmon stepping up and Mo having an above average year. Carr too.

Others are right this is an injury we can deal with and we won't miss a beat. We know who the indispensable players are(don't mention them) and Scandrick was very good but he's not indespensible.

Picking up Corey White was a pretty big pickup in light of the situation at hand.

I was getting to drive on base when I got the news.

Not a good way to start the day.

Hopefully this Byron kid pans out. Here's to Morris finally living up to his draft status!
