They should back up the brinks truck for Cespedes. This guy is unreal. Since he arrived, the Mets are No 1 in just about every offensive category there is. He has a whole lot of diva in him but it is fun to watch him play ball. I doubt the Mets give him the 20-25 million it is goign to take to sign him.

You forgot the Royals. From perennial bottom dweller to World Series appearance and a 12 game lead in the Central in September. The pitching is a little shaky (especially Cueto lately) and they don't hit the long ball like some teams but they have figured out a formula to win.

I don't think we truly know about the royals yet. That world series was their to take. They let off the hook. Like Texas and cards a few years back.

Niese absolutely sucks. He pitches good when there is no pressure to win but as soon as he is called upon for a big game.......he folds every single time.

I can't wait until he is gone and I felt that way about Gee.

The Mets will implode, I can see it coming...............

Pitching is falling apart(minus Fat Colon), no BP and hitting is a hit or miss.....no consistency.

Have a bad feeling the lead is down to one game by Wed night :(

Even I don't see it going that bad.

The word is the coach lost his team(nationals)

It's very funny that the author of the thread is as MIA as his team is down the stretch.

The Yankees have some real pitching problems right now, and likely will end up with the wild card, but they have overachieved as much as a team with a 200+ million payroll can overachieve.

Gregorius has been terrific of late, and I love Greg Bird's potential. Severino also looks like he has the making of a #2 starter at worst.

They won't. May end up a Yankee though.

Yeah.... I'm not seeing these pitching problems. Stuff happens. These players pick each other up. I'm seeing pitching as a strength.

Severino looks like future #1. Looks like he is cut from a Mariano Rivera mold.

The starting pitching is far from a strength - Eovaldi is being shut down for two weeks with an elbow issue, Pineda is way too inconsistent, Tanaka needs extra rest that he likely won't be able to get, and Sabathia is a disaster. Nova is also showing a lack of consistency post-Tommy John surgery. Right now, Severino is the best starter, and there are a lot of questions after that.

Your definition of Consistency = doesn't look good in EVERY single start. No one does.

I like this rotation in 5 and 7 game series.

Strength and they will prove it.

Out of the contending teams in the AL, aside from perhaps the Rangers, the Yankees have the worst starting pitching. The bullpen has been very good, but they also have been way overused because the starters don't give them depth into games. Not sure why you would be confident in this rotation in the playoffs.

Not true. Lol

We'll agree to disagree.

Its so funny. The bold part. I heard pitching coach Leo Mazzone dismiss that. Dismiss the sports radio talking heads.

The Yankees are 22nd out of 30 teams in innings pitched by starting pitchers. The only contending team with fewer innings from their starters is the Royals, who have the best bullpen in the league.

LOL!

Yeah, Red and I see the Yanks starting pitching two different ways ourselves.

I'm a Yankees fan, but I can't turn a blind eye to how inconsistent their starting staff is.

Only stat that counts is who has more points after the game. These pitchers give this team a great chance.

David Price will fall.... To us.

I don't know which is worse for him....4 game sweep In playoffs or not being able to represent in any way shape or form the following year?

I hear Don Meredith singing from his grave.

As of today, Sept. 9th, 2015, Toronto is leading the AL East by half a game with 25 games left to play.

Looks as if it's going to come down to the wire.

Maybe he was singing about his mets. Loll

Cespedes has that Reggie Jackson aura about him. The New York environment seems to fuel him. We all know the Mets won't sign him which means the Yankees will. Typically the Mets and Yankees stay away from the others free agents. I know Granderson signed but the Wilpons probably got Steinbrenners blessing before they did. It will suck watching Cespedes hitting 60 HRs in Yankee Standium.

Lose this World Series to Yankees.
Lose Cespedes to Yankees.

Works for me.

They did get a break today when Cespedes and Mets agreed to remove the 5 day window for negotiation after the World Series.

At least both parties are interested in doing something. I may need to start a ******** account for Cespedes to sign. You know the Mets dont have 150 million to extend him.

"Yanks' Nathan Eovaldi unlikely to return for remainder of regular season" :(

That's going to make things that much worse.
