I have nothing against the trade for Butler but he's a developmental long shot. Street is a JAG. Beasley is a nice but very limited player. Williams is an inconsistent #2. Dez is a bit injury prone. To think we're set at WR for years to come is a little much for me.

stop using facts, listen to us, this guy is amazing, we got so hooked up. believe this people, they know the real deal.

The same people who graded Jenkins having a future are the same who are saying Brice Butler has a better one. This ain't rocket science. Trust the coaches.

you did read the whole deal right? Brice either makes it in 5 or is flat out gone. im hedging bets they saw more in Jenkins. This is a risk that Jerry likes, but wasnt needed. laos its saying they would rather risk losing Brice than Jenkins. if Jenkins plays i dont know if he can go back to teh PS but he might, if Brice fails, hes on the streets.

Wide receiver is a complementary position. Sometimes it's not a matter of acquiring a great talent, but just a guy who can work with your QB (if you have the right QB).

Look at James Jones. Useless in Oakland. Cut in New York. Two touchdown passes days after returning to Green Bay. He went from a huge free agent signing, to a dumpster-fire release to a quality receiver again in 14 months.

We're not going to sign a Dez Bryant clone off the waiver wire, but maybe this guy can come in and either compete with Street or ultimately surpass him for playing time, thus giving our offense just a little extra boost than where we sit today.

Let me break this deal down for you further. They would rather have Brice Butler on the field than Jenkins. That's why Jenkins is not on the roster. There is no plan to release Butler, most deals with picks are constructed this way, ie. the player has to be on the roster for a certain number of games for the draft pick being traded to be valid.

its a risk, i see that, and its got a do or die clause to it. Im just skeptical if a guy whos about to be waived from the Raiders will make it here. Its Jerry all the way tho. We ll see, one side is right one is wrong. Thats all there is to it.

exactly. so if you dont think he can do it, we re giving him 5 weeks, which is not fair ill agree. But it seems they have more faith in Jenkins who they are NOT risking right now and let this guy fly or die, leaving it all up to him.

of course you would, a guy buried on the Raiders depth chart screams talent. If he walks im sure you are impressed. Id sooner roll the dice with AJ Jenkins . He knows the playbook and cost us less. We either wasted time, or have to dump this guy to say no deal, we could play AJ and see what he has. am i impressed with blazing fast. no, dig up Davis and ask him how that worked out. Give me hands and a chain mover any day of the week.

Coaches had Jenkins for the entire summer. If there was anything there, he wouldn't be (again) sitting on his coach.

Even if Oakland, Butler was a 7th round pick that lasted on a NFL roster for 3 years and had better stats.

Since Jenkins was here before and free, it is pretty obvious the FO didn't want him back for whatever reasons.

It was a good first thought to me since he knows the plays, but that was about the only plus.

Bulter offers good size and speed and I would be worried if I was Street or Lucky.

I think if you're betting on whether or not he "hits" here beyond anything other than becoming a No. 5 receiver moving forward, the safe bet is clearly that he will not. But I wouldn't get too hung up about the Raiders element. I agree they're not oozing with talent, but I also feel confident in assuming Romo could make each and every one of their receivers look better than Carr can.

In my view, he doesn't have to become a No. 2 wideout to make this trade work in our favor.

Well, that seals the deal.
The coaches not only rejected the notion on Jenkins but also a few street guys they tried out today before making the deal. There is raw talent visible in this kid. He might need to toughen up a bit, may need to be more consistent, but he could turn into a viable #2 WR. And for what - maybe 10 or 15 picks later in the 5th/6th round when your guy is likely to still be there in the draft anyway. Take a breath it's going to be okay.

A viable number 2? Dang man, tap the brakes

no, if he makes 5th we re still screwed, they paid a 7th, we are paying a 5th? ill take that 5th back and use it in the draft and feel better. If you really think the best he might do is that poor, risk Jenkins and save us the pick. Or do you really not favor that low of a pick.

PS, the rest of your argument was good, i want that 5th back.

on second thought, if we have muliptle picks to burn, than ill agree wtih you on everything you said.

James Jones is a bit player in that offense. Defenses have to worry about Lacy, Cobb, Nelson in past years and Adams now.

Pair Jones up with Terrance Williams and the collection of crap we have at RB and you'll see how marginal he really is.

I'll agree there. You're right, you don't want to spend a 5th on a No. 5 receiver. But I think that's the beauty of the five-week or whatever window. If he's trending toward not flashing much, you cut your losses. The upside is there "could" be something more with his measurables.

I'm pretty much onboard here, but I think Williams could be a #1.5 if he gets it mentally... he has talent...

I don't think Dallas is done yet... Butler can be something special given coaching...

Well, yeah. But good offenses/QBs have a way of making bit-part players look good in their role -- kinda like Laurent Robinson.

by all means you are correct. what i am saying is the guy was about to be waived, we could have gotten him cheaper, but the clause of do or die in 6 weeks , ok nice touch but had we waited a day or two wouldnt have been needed, and im thinking it they dont want to rush Jenkins yet. IM not saying Jenkins is a lock but he comes cheaper, if we keep Brice on at any spot, we pay the 5th. We bring up jenkins to put him back on the PS, teams might notice. I think its their thinking to risk Brice and not Jenkins.
