The ginger and the clapping

Jimmy Johnson did the same thing ........

Please, please, don't even attempt to compare the two. Jimmy clapped, but he also put the fear of God in the players and held them accountable. He cut the backup running back after fumbling twice is a meaningless last game of the season right before the playoffs. That's accountability, not worthless clapping.

They are winning with a guy that was a back-up, who is now starting because RG3 sucked so bad...

Staying afloat means in playoff competition. Your simply trying to absolve this team of losing every game because Romo isn't here, which is utterly stupid. There are plenty of QBs that took over and won enough games. Buerlein took us into the playoffs after Troy Aikman went down. Hostetler won the SB. The example you 'refuted' with Cassell was a QB who started in the beginning of the year, because Brady went down. He wasn't declared a starter because he beat Brady in camp.

Weeden was a starter, drafted first round and Cassell also started and was not 'off the street'. They haven't won and Cousins has won 50% of their games.

NONE of these QBs were off the street...

WE HAVEN'T WON A SINGLE GAME. Hell, even Kitna won us some games despite being like 100 years old.

Tony Romo was the starter...because Bledsoe sucked so bad. What aren't you understanding here?

Cousins won the job in a competion in camp. You can't be this dense?

Weeden was a guy who didn't play a game since the Cardinals game last season. Cassle has been with this system for month. Are you understanding now, nitwit?

WE DIDN'T LOSE HALF OUR STARTERS IN THE 90s WHEN AIKMAN WENT DOWN! Not comparable!

In 2 out of our 4 games without Romo, our D-Line was getting thin, we were without our starting WR, starting franchise QB. We then got our D-line back, and we faced a Patriots team that is now on pace to having a similar season to their 07 year. Still without our starting QB and starting WR. 2 key players were straight off their suspensions.

Against the Giants, we changed QBs to one who hasn't started a game since the beginning of 2014, has only been with us for a few weeks.

This isn't the same as a a QB winning out in camp.

Show me a team that has lost as many players as us and won games - I'll wait.

And honestly, if you're going to debate about this, don't bring up a damn team from the 90s that had trouble winning without their starting RB that was loaded with talent at nearly every other position. It's laughable and hardly even worthy of a response.

I agree with BP completely. I also am tired of the Romo/Dez excuse. It carries a lot of weight when you lose them for 7-8 games and you admit that you have to hold on and get by vs going 6-2 in that stretch. BUT that doesn't mean you go 0-7 or 0-8 and then use it as an excuse. We have had 3 winnable games. Injuries happen. Team are getting by with worse QBs and play makers. Even 1 or 2 of the 3 winnable games makes a difference. Losing them all and chalking it up to Romo/Dez is lazy and ignoring the reality of the NFL. That's when you coach and adjust. Also, Weeden was in our system for 2 years because they believed he could succeed if something happened...especially with Tony's neck issue going into last year. If their assessments as evaluators, etc didn't work out, that is on them. Backup QBs are valuable. Swinging and missing on that is not an excuse. Weeden got plenty of 1st team snaps when Romo took time off. In fact that was the "word" after the injury...he knew the system and had run with the 1sts already.

Say what you want to about JG, but his players are drinking his Kool Aid by the gallon and have not stopped fighting and clawing for him. And as long as he still has the lockerroom, this ship can be righted. I can see where the constant clapping is annoying though.

I know it is silly and irrational for it to bother me so much but when he is doing it after a bad play I just want to smack the freckles off his face and yell... STOP IT

Brain unknown you and I don't always see eye to eye, but that's the fun part lol. However, you're 1000000000 % spot on right here. It drives me absolutely crazy. JG is one of these new modern day hapy happy happy guys. He probably leads the committee to make sure every kid gets a trophy for participation. It's way too much Wade Phillips like for me. Sometimes, guys need to be publically called out not given a hand clap for trying.

Held them countable for what? His players were crazy off the field and the only players he punished for on the field stuff were backups.
And he did not have to deal with a salary cap and a over the top players union.

Get out of here with this bullcrap.

You obviously can't handle the truth. Johnson left Irving's *** in Dallas when he was late for a flight. He left Aikman's *** at the stadium when he was doing interviews and didn't get on the bus. He cut players that needed to be cut. And guess what???? He freaking WON football games!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's the bottom line!

Really? Cutting a guy who sucked and they proved could not win with was a "bold" move? Wow, I love Jimmy but the story is a piece of JJ folklore that needs to be deep-sixed.

Well said indeed, Jimmy built a team that won 3 Super Bowls, 2 under him and another with the team he built. He was the best coach I have ever seen period !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the back up running back. would he have cut a star player? a critical player to his team's success? he sent a message to the lower echelon of the team. if Haley acted like that? would he have been cut....as evident after the fact, his teams were running amok with haley, irvin and a few others.....

Curvin Richards was a draftee, 4th rounder from the previous year, and the only back-up Emmitt had at the time. Cutting him was bold enough to get everybody focused on the playoffs. They hadnt won anything when that happened.

Kinda easy to do when you had pretty much had a dynasty shipped to you from Minny. How did Jimmy look before that? How did he look when Smith held out?

I liked Jimmy, good personality and he played a big part in the greatest trade in history, but the dude was blessed with talent after that trade.

Jimmy did that to send a message to other players and light a fire under them.

So kind of like cutting Coleman who was about as productive as the great Curvin Richards? A guy who never got a job anywhere else again.
