You do realize the legal system played its course right? He served his time by NFL standards, and there is nothing else legally that can be done. He has a right to play, no matter your emotional viewpoint on it.

This was going to be my point also. The protesting against DC sponsors and Jerry is just stupid because the case played out a long time ago and Hardy got what he got and that's it. The NFL punished him as much as they could and even tried to suspend him more games. What more is expected from the NFL and even more what does the media expect JJ to do punish hardy for something that happened before he was on the team? I just don't get why Jerry is expected to do anything when none of this was while Hardy was a cowboy. I'm in no way sticking up for Hardy I just want to know what the media wants the end result to be to satisfy them so they can feel like he finally paid for what he did.

It's not for effect, I promise you that's what would happen barring a bullet or police stopping me. An emotional place? You're damn right, what do you think those brusies are? Make up? Do you think what happened was a fantasy?

Your response is what is so disturbing. You act like what happened never happened, you just push it aside in the name of sacks and W's

Yeah that's kind of overboard. You don't just go killing people because they committed misdemeanor assault. That isn't the appropriate punishment for the crime, especially if upon appeal he was found not guilty and his record is now cleared. There are some interesting tidbits of info that people are leaving out. 1. She was on drugs when she confronted him at his residence. 2. Several of the bruises where caused by his bodyguard trying to remove her from the premise. 3. He called the police. Why would he do that? Hey I'm beating this woman I better call the cops on myself?

It's shocking the number of fans that are grasping for reasons to dismiss what this scumbag did. It doesn't make it any more right that this girl was afraid to testify against him so the charges were expunged. It doesn't make it any more right that he paid off the victim to not testify against him. He's scum. He'll do it again. He should be in jail where prisoners with more morals than him would be giving him the treatment he likes to dish out on women.

Just because he plays on our team doesn't mean we need to make excuses for his behavior. Carolina did the right thing. We didn't. That something we have to deal with, but it doesn't mean we have to like it.

Carolina let him play, and would've have continued to let him play, had the league not stopped it.

My problem with Greeny and the rest of the media is that they are leaving out a lot of details and only reporting what I think is half the story. I am in NO WAY defending Hardy's actions. But even Holder testified that some of those bruises were caused by his manager, she admits that they had been drinking and she was snorting cocaine. I have seen fights of all kind and no one get bruises from being held "back", by his manager, if they aren't actively trying to get back into the fray. Unless the manager seriously manhandled her. No mentions of the pictures of Hardy with his bruise/cut. Is it possible that he is telling the truth that she attacked him. I think I read somewhere that "her" girlfriend stated/testified that she was going to get him back b/c he moved her out of his house/apt. Also consider this, the race card, I am from NC and know that if a black male is accused of attacking a white female, he better have proof he didn't do it. Also the judge, who had release a man earlier in her career who later killed his wife, sentenced him to misdemeanor charges. If it was a slam dunk case I think she would have thrown the book at him. I have yet to hear one these mainstream media types report that the DA had serious issues with her testimony.

Great points and a couple to add to it, the Judge was coming up on reelection and already had a predisposition to side with women in these kind of cases, coming up on an election she clearly had an incentive to rule against Hardy in an extremely high profile case like this.

Also on Holder attacking Hardy, its a proven fact that several days before this incident Holder did attack Hardy's car kicking and screaming until she was restrained by a security guard. Take that fact and listen to her screaming on the 911 call that Hardy placed, where he calmly and patiently asks the dispatcher to send the police.

Also the race issue is something that came to my mind as well, when I read all this I googled the Judge to see if she was white. I can't see into her soul and I don't make that accusation, but it doesn't take a big leap of imagination to picture a white Judge in North Carolina ruling against a 270 pound black man accused of hitting a white girlfriend on something besides the content of his character.

The list of actors, musicians, politicians, and athletes that have been charged with domestic violence, and worse, is extremely long. Many of them still work in the same field that gained them fame.

This is offtopic but I live in Hollywood where the conventional wisdom is that Roman Polanski was charged with rape just because of some crazy party getting out of hand.

The reality is that he targeted a THIRTEEN year old girl, lured her to a private home in a complete ruse about a modeling shoot, then drugged her and raped her. No word on what ESPN thinks of the situation, I'll wait.

In fairness, ESPN shouldn't report on Roman Polanski given that he's not involved in sports. That said, a thousand columnists and other media types in this country who have chosen to target Hardy for something that pales in comparison to the acts of many other celebrities/athletes need to do some serious soul searching of themselves. Heck, how much have we heard about Bill Cosby and his actions? Where's the outrage on that? The hypocritical self-righteousness of these people make me sick. And they have the gall to call Hardy "despicable".

The league didn't force Carolina to do anything. The owner made the decision before the NFL even got involved.

the whole thing happened, they allowed him to play, and when it was on the verge of blowing up, he got put on a list.

they are not any less "morally corrupt" than the Cowboys are.

Regardless. You're point was wrong the NFL never stepped in and forced Carolina to do anything. The owner did.

I couldn't care less about anyone's "moral" take on a situation where none of us were there. Just sayin.

They actually want Jerry to cut Hardy. it's laughable. They have no idea what happened in that apartment and his record was expunged. The pictures weren't even that bad. I was expecting black eyes and busted lips.

And you know this how? This same judge deemed this case a misdemeanor and not a felony based on the evidence.

If she's concerned about reelection, doesn't it make more sense that she give Hardy a harsher charge than a misdemeanor?

I realize you're not asking me, but I think that's exactly what Kaiser was saying...she had incentive to go harder on him, but the evidence before her only merited a misdemeanor. I think the two of you are in agreement on this. Sorry for butting in...

Also consider this, the Panthers went through this with Rae Coruth (spell check) and I am sure they didn't want a repeat of that. Honestly I think they both went at each other, once again I am not letting Hardy off the hook, but something tells me that it didn't go down the way she said it did.

Its always been reported that his teammates in Carolina liked him a lot and supported him. One of the posters here (I believe McLovin) has a friend in the front office of Carolina and the rumor was that everyone wanted to resign Hardy but the owner didn't want to deal with the PR mess (like what we saw this weekend).

Do your homework. She had a Judicial record of favoring defendants, had specialized in defending battered women going back to Law School and the website of her reelection campaign made a big effort to focus she was hard on men who committed domestic violence.

She can't make up sentencing guidelines, she wasn't going to give Hardy 20 years of hard time for something that the sentencing guidelines say is a lesser sentence. But coming into an election a Professional Athlete came into her court in a case that was front page headlines in the local newspapers. Its pretty obvious she erred on the side of the "victim" in this case, especially knowing that her ruling would be vacated the following day when Hardy asked for a Jury Trial.

That is the main point. She doesn't lose any of her anti-DV bona fides with the guilty verdict in the bench trial. She knows when it is appealed it is immediately vacated. She had 2 choices: end the case right there or allow it to go a jury trial.

My pet peeve is when people report that his conviction was overturned on appeal. He never had the need to defend himself in front a jury of peers and to face his accusers because all the charges were dropped. They didn't even try for a plea bargain. They knew it was over and they used not being able to find Ms Holder as an excuse for a weak case.

The NFL used that 'conviction' as the basis for their 10 game suspension. Now it looks like they went even further with Randle and suspended based on police report alone. DAL has no shot at fair treatment from the NFL.
