Nope and I have seen em all except Eddie LeBarron. Staubach is still the greatest Cowboy QB, not to mention offensive player of all time. Not even debatable. They actually played defense when Roger played.

Agree I have seen most of them and Stauback was easily the all time greatest QB of the Cowboys.

Watching Tony today reminded me of Steve Young. They're exactly alike except one's lefty and the other is a righty. Both QBs were/are extremely nifty in manuvering the pocket, moreover don't give either one too much time or they'll slice your defense in half.

Young was a better runner then Romo. Romo has him beat in the pocket and his awareness to escape pressure

Ok thought experiment: Take this same Dallas team vs Carolina on Thanksgiving. You can play Roger, Troy or Tony in their prime. Who do you pick?

I would pick in this order: Roger, Troy, then Tony.

Tony over Troy for this coming game. Tony has the ability to make things happen when a play breaks own. Troy not so much. Troy wasn't what you called mobile, which was fine when you had that 90s Oline in front of you plus adding Moose and Emmit, who was one of the best rbs at picking up the blitz. If the Oline plays like they did last game, Aikman wouldn't fare as well as Tony.

I guarantee Aikman and 99% of all other QBs would have gotten a safety on that play Romo spun left to avoid the safety and shot putted it with his left hand.

If you take Troy, Marino, Elway, Montana, Young, Kelly, etc in their prime and put them in today's offense friendly NFL, they would dominate. You can't say the same for today's QB's if you put them in the other era. The game was different.

Staubach by a mile....those of us fortunate to watch his entire career will never forget the feelings we had watching him play every week...he made the whole team better just bt his presence..greatest leader I'd ever seen.

I've been following the Cowboys since '69 and Romo does everything that Roger did EXCEPT consistently threaten opponents with a scramble from the pocket. And Romo has the leeway to CALL HIS OWN PLAYS (something Roger DIDN'T have - and maybe was a factor in his early retirement).

Both Roger and Tony are true greats at the QB position - and a strong argument could be posited for either of them as the Dallas Cowboys QB 'GOAT'. No losers in THAT argument. We're all winners for having experienced those two amazing players.

Staubach led the league in passer rating four times. Romo has never done it.

I was born in Syracuse NY and as a child liked the buffalo bills (OJ Simpson fan, with his "slashing" style)...but, when I moved to Penna, and then saw Rodger the Dodger with one of his patented comeback wins, I was sold...for me, Roger was the best of all time....tony is second, and that is just a smidge ahead of Aikman

True mechanics make their job look simple by contrast to the wiggle, squirm, bob and weave style.
Aikman was a great deal better than people give him credit for, mostly because he sacrificed the Holy Grail of stats to work withing the championship model created by Jimmy.

Discounting this for Roger's scrambling and Romo's ability to move within the space available is simply ignoring the greatness of perhaps the most accurate passer ever.

But carry one. These are opinions on all sides of this argument, hence they carry about as much weight as air.

Do you realize that Romo has more 4th comeback wins than Staubach and it's not even close?[/quote]
