I'm not at all opposed to a trade down to the mid teens. Pick up Wentz and grab a couple extra picks.

Wouldn't be the worst scenerio....if it works out that way...Problem is....things never seem to work out around here the way you intend them.:banghead:

I still think the safest bet is sit tight @ 4....and take Lynch. I keep seeing all these mocks w/ the Cowboys taking a player other than a QB....And I just shake my head....Did these people even watch the season? We need a QB now....and for the future:rolleyes:

I wonder if they'll get a look at Brandon Allen. That dude really turned it on as the year went on, and against quality competition too. Personally my pet cat coming out this year despite some of the stigma attached.

He will be there since Connor Cook considers playing at the Senior Bowl is for the common folk.

I disagree. This is reminding me of that year where Ponder and Locker and all those guys just jumped up in the draft. I'd take my chances with Wentz falling to the 2nd round. If he didn't I wouldn't lose too much sleep especially if I can get a impact defensive player at #4.

The more I watch of Wentz the more I think he is a lock for the first round.

Too many things to like about his game.

I wouldn't be shocked if he is considered the top QB by some teams.

Senior Bowl and combine still to go to adjust his spot one way or another - but I think he'll go 1st round with a shot to go top 15.

Alot to like....I've got him to the LA Rams (1st round) in my mock. Watching him in the Championship game vs Jack St. He looks like he's got good arm strength...but I question his deep throws.....He sure seems to put alot of air underneth the ball. More than I like to see. I'd like to see him drill it more into the windows along the sideline. I think he's got the arm strength to do it though. Kind of reminds me of an older Rich Gannon(Raiders)/Brad Johnson (w/ a better arm).

People act all crazy like nobody can jump up that far in the draft and how we can get him in the second...only for the draft to creep up and he goes before we have a chance to pick him.

Aaron Donald comes to mind. He went from a possible second round pick for us to a definite first round pick to we will have to trade up to get him to we don't have enough ammo to move up to draft him.

QBs are even worse when it comes to the draft.

No way Christian Ponder was going to be a first rounder.
No Way Brandon Weeden was going to be a first rounder
No way would EJ Manuel was going to go top 20

Anything can happen between now and the draft. Especially if a player has a good senior bowl or combine yet every year we have some in here saying...NO WAY will this guy go this early or this round.

Never say No Way when it comes to people on the rise. He is already rising up the boards and if he has a good senior bowl, combine or private workout his stock could go through the roof.

I remember Philip Rivers shooting up the draft from mid-late first round mocks to be drafted at #4.

I would, level of competition is really too much to leap frog both QBs. Undoubtedly, some teams will have serious issues with Goff and may like Lynch, Wentz and then Goff. While others will have issues with Lynch and rank them Goff, Wentz and Lynch, but I doubt any team has Wentz first. Possibly some team that has no chance at any, just so they can say told you so later.

It doesn't bother me. I'm looking for a certain skill set. I don't care how well you performed in College.

Matt Leinart performed great against the best competition. It did not matter.

a 6'5-6'6 QB who has a cannon for an arm, can run, improvise, and make all of the required throws is going to go high.

Now can he process coverages quick enough and deal with the speed of the NFL? I don't know but we don't know that about any QB when they come out of College.

Also, Wentz played a lot under center in college so that is not something that is foreign to him.

I can't wait for Senior Bowl week to get here.

It's so critical. Especially for QBs.

When slop like Manuel and Ponder can parlay decent weeks into first round designations, absolutely.

I have no idea what on earth would keep a player from participating if they were fully healthy.

NFL types are like elephants, they never forget things.

It's a long shot from this distance but there's a long way to go.
It's not unheard of for QB's are other position to start out viewed
as a second round pick and get picked much higher. We'll see.

If wentz is the 4th overall pick for the Cowboys then that would be one of the worst picks in the history of the Cowboys. People are acting like any of these QBs are ready to start right away. Browns are going to get Goff killed, and Paxton IMO will go to SF will have a decent shot because of their running game and their OL. Even then i think Gabbert starts the season as the starter. Wentz is a notch below them IMO. He's taking a gigantic step in terms of competition. People say wait until the SR bowl, the SR bowl is fine but most of the top talent in this draft are underclassmen. Wentz is RD2 talent. I think he could be a reach for a team like Kansas City later in RD1. But if he falls to Dallas in Rd2 that would be perfect because thats where he should be drafted.

Saw a tweet mentioning that from someone in the NFL. Don't recall who it was though.

You may be right about Wentz but there is a long way to go.There are some who are predicting this rise
I have eluded to.I will admit that a little of my high select is fear of losing Wentz if we drop to low
in the first certainly not as low as the top of the second.I read some report at my desk what do I know.

only people predicting Wents to be a pick as high as the Cowboys are on this forum. I have not seen one media outlet come remotely close to saying that.

Lol. Give it up dude.

Mayock, who I consider the ultimate draft expert, recently tweeted that he's in consideration to be the first QB taken. That's as much as a seal as you should need.
