That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. You can argue exactly the other way around with that same "logic".

Face it, I rather have RG3, a top pick with all the tools, who has had a legit Pro Bowl year as a rookie (unlike those bums that somehow managed to get in because of all the guys that pulled out), for NOTHING, instead of wasting a top pick on a QB who hasn't done **** so far.

You are obviously in the camp where you just don't want any of the QBs in this draft. Period.

Clearly we have a difference in opinion, but make no mistake, signing a high profile veteran like Griffin will eliminate the option of drafting a QB.

And that apparently is what you want.

Of course it depends on how the scouts grade them out, but you also don't "window dress" your board either. If you have the QBs ranked at the top of the board, then you take them if they are there at 4.

Its like Broaddus has said about the Manzel situation..........Jerry has admitted that he was number one on their draft board, yet declined to take him in the middle of the first. That totally defies the entire purpose of putting a draft board together. If the team was not going to take Manzel (and Jerry has said it was a committee of one, so everybody else was opposed to it), then why the hell was he the first name on the draft board?

He should have been put in the box and had his named removed from the board according to Broaddus, because the number one player on your draft board is who your scouts consider the single best player in the draft. Now if the player is available to you and you choose to pass, then he obviously was not the best player in the draft in your opinion. And if there are other circumstances beside talent that prevent you from taking him, he should have been in the box. Broaddus has said that the Honey Badger was placed in the box due to drugs in college and that is why the Cowboys never took him.

So long story short, you have to draft the board your scouts put together.

Hey, no complaint from me if they follow their board and take a QB at #4. I won't say "boo" about it.

And if they don't take a QB at #4, because they are following their board, I wonder how much will be posted about it. :D

Do we get to see the board again?

His former team has nothing to do with it. Maybe before you try to call anyone else "dense", you should check yourself first
Here's some breaking news to you: Your opinion doesn't cover 100% of what the Cowboys fans think. In other words: speak for yourself.

Really? It's "fine" if it doesn't work out? How exactly is it "fine" if...
Stop right there. Don't make **** up. Nobody said he will be our starter next year, nobody said he'll be our #2 if Romo gets hurt. And don't act like any rookie we draft is going to be able to step right in for Romo or do something that RG3 wouldn't be able to next year. Ridiculous.

Practice what you're 'preaching' to others. "Grow up".
That doesn't even make any sense.

In between slinging arrows, take a few minutes to read this scouting report on Griffin...
Look, I don't give a **** about RG3's scouting report from Joe Shmoe. I've seen him play play every single week since he entered the league, I've followed him at Baylor, I know what his strengths and weaknesses are. Same with Luck or Manziel. If you need somebody to tell you stories about certain players go knock yourself out but then you really should maybe keep your opinion on whether we should sign or pass on a guy that you haven't seen play extensively to yourself. If JJ wants to bring RG3 in this offense has to be adjusted a little bit, otherwise don't bother.

Competition ain't enough. The need to have "it" when they arrive.

Competition pushes a player harder, makes them fight for reps and keep there head in the film.

However I don't RG3, a guy who wouldnt let coachs show his bad plays in film review would be competition for anyone

And again, practice what you preach. Self awareness doesn't seem to be your strong suit.

So, he would be the #4 quarterback? Which is essentially what I've said that the Cowboys would have to do if they took a chance on either Manziel or Griffin? Great, we agree on something.

That doesn't even make any sense.

It does to anyone capable of understanding. You're dating to try to tell anyone else to "grow up" when you obviously need to do some of it yourself. Practice what you preach.

So now, a pro player with some actual credibility who played the game is "Joe Shmoe"? Nice reach. Because the facts shoot your opinion full of holes, you can't handle them. Again, you need to "grow up".

I'll trust the word of some who played the game over a fan caught up in his own fantasy of what he wiashes would happen. And so will everyone else.

Tough to name one that became "elite" other than Steve Young but to play devil's advocate, Jim Plunket won 2 Super Bowls with the Raiders and was drafted No.1 overall by the Pats. Trent Dilfer went 6th overall and made a Pro Bowl plus won a Super Bowl after failing with the team that took him initially. Doug Williams went 17th overall and won a Super Bowl after failing in Tampa.

None were "elite" but the SB wins are something all of us would take I assume...

Agree SB win is what I am getting at. I just don't see that happening with RG3 or JM. Neither brings anything that resembles the ones you mentioned above. I guess I should rephrase my preference is not another "stopgap" but an actual heir to Romo. We have seen what the stopgap route brings I don't want to wait another 20 years. Until Romo finally took over this team didn't even make it to the driveway at least with Romo we have witnessed elite level play and steps away from the doorstep.

Of course!

You can see it happening already.

They've elevated Wentz to the level of "Can't-miss-automatic-HOFer" category.

heh - predraft hype and something to get excited about. one thing i hate about some tendencies is when fans do this, if the player is solid but not all star, they then hate him cause he never lived up to their own hype.

not sure he can at this point.

The moment he throws a TD or wins a game for us you'll be all up on his bandwagon and order your RG3 jersey the very next day.
We'llcheer because we're Cowboys fans, but nobody's going out and buying an RG3 jersey, except Baylor ulumni.

Reclamation projects that have been successful in new surroundings do not come with nearly the same technical baggage Griffin does.

You bring him onboard, you have to modify your offense to compensate for his handicaps. Placing him into this system will require him to do what Romo does to and that is quite simply over his head.

Jim Plunkett he's not.

RG3 needed someone like Gary Kubiak to coach him.

He's not a WCO Quarterback. At least not without sitting a couple of years on the bench.

WCO is all tied into footwork. And the footwork has to be precise to what the play calls for. If it's a 5-step drop with 3 long strides, a small stutter step and a medium stride...the QB *must* have that type of footwork because the timing of the play is all thrown off without it. And for a QB like RG3 who never really had that type of coaching and that type of offense, it takes a while to learn and playing games actually hurts the learning process. That's why many WCO coaches love the Kirk Cousins types QB's. They don't have the greatest arm or athleticism, but they have the footwork down pat and understand the nuances and the WCO coaches think that is all is needed since the system should get the WR's open.

The Air Coryell scheme is not as footwork dependent and it's more about using the footwork to feel the pass rush and make good throws than setting up the timing of the play.

Personally, I'm all for giving RG3 a chance here AND drafting a QB at #4. The position is too important to neglect. Manziel has basically wasted his opportunity and I have doubts he will ever see time in the NFL, again. I think his career is likely over.

I'm pretty sure no one went out and bought a Weeden jersey, either.

The reality is...

If we get RGIII:
- he will be backup for at least 2 years (hope he will learn, don't know if he can be a real NFL QB though... All signs = no)
- Romo is QB unless he goes down
- we won't draft a QB if we get RGIII
