It was hard to know what to make of former Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott’s 2016 NFL draft status after the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine. On Saturday morning, it got even tougher to figure out where he stands in the eyes of many teams.

While Prescott has a ton of talent, threw for 3,793 yards, scored 39 combined touchdowns with just five interceptions in 2015, and even won Senior Bowl MVP, it may not be enough to keep his stock from falling after this breaking news.

Prescott was in Starkville, Mississippi for his pro day on Thursday, and early Saturday morning he was reportedly arrested and charged with a DUI.

The news comes from Michael Bonner and Sarah Fowler of The Clarion-Ledger, who agree that it’s a total unknown as to what this will do to Prescott’s draft stock. While he holds every passing record at Mississippi State and has a good amount of potential, having this happen around two months before the NFL draft is just brutal.

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report pointed out that Prescott was climbing his personal draft board.

I won't live long enough to EVER understand why someone would drive a vehicle, after consuming alcohol/illicit drugs.

It's called life. It happens thousands of times every day. People work their *** off for 8-10 hours a day or more and decide to wind down with a few buds after work. What's not to understand? It's wrong but it's life. It happens. Get over yourself.

You don't have to live long just live an actual living breathing life to EVER understand.

I would like a little bit more information TBH. What was his alcohol level? Being charged doesn't necessarily mean he was drunk, I mean it is Mississippi. It could be a lot of variables left out. Seems a little dumb to get busted for driving drunk right before one of the biggest opportunities of your life. But then again you got Boykins and his antics before the Alamo Bowl so who's to say.

Kinda what I was thinking 4life. 22 year old college kids drink and drive. Its real life. More interested in the situation how he got it other than drinking.

A DUI doesn't necessarily mean you have bad "character". It means you're immature and made a mistake. Many fine upstanding citizens can have a DUI in their early 20s but that does not define the type of person they are.

I don't even know enough about Prescott to be an apologist.

Exactly. It could just be an anomaly. Just ask Johnny Manziel.

this might be good for us, since it sounds like our coaches appear to have a crush on him, hopefully they will pass now.
Problem with Prescott is that we would waste a draft pick on a guy who we already know won't ever be more than a backup QB, one that we already know will likely struggle with the NFL passing requirements. Why would we draft a backup QB AND sign one in FA? Doesn't make much sense to me, I'd prefer to sign someone like M. Moore and bring back Kellen as the #3. If you are going to draft a QB, you have to at least draft someone with the potential to become a starter, don't see that in Prescott. Shame about his DUI, but maybe this DUI will keep us from wasting this pick. Ironically, Blackmon was known to be a great guy too leading up to the draft and he has DUI'ed himself out of the league.
Unreal that guys getting ready for the biggest job interview of their lives still can't stay away from drugs, alcohol, or other nonsense. The timing seems more telling than the actual event itself as far as saying something about a kid's judgement and mental capacity.

Feel bad for the kid, but like others, I never saw what our coaches saw in him in the first place. We should focus on Driskel and Hack now. I know most will hate hearing this, but with 2 years on the bench, these two can be as good as any of the QBs from this class.
