He's gong to be inactive most games and he is definitely leaving. Zero problem trading him.

Better he sit on the bench as insurance than lose him for a draft pick next year which they will get anyway as a compensatory pick. Keep him now, earn the pick later.

I'm on your side.

This is the part that Cowboys brass really need to work on, IMO.

Get something for guys they likely won't resign.

Leary has more value to the team than what he'll likely net in return, but only for this year.

A draft pick of almost any kind essentially and long term you got great use out of Leary and flipped an UFA for a draft pick.

I'm with my you.

4th rounder or a solid player is all I want..

We will most likely end up with a throw away pick and I'd rather just keep him.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I hope not. We need Leary to play backup

I thought McClay was a talent finder.

We signed Looney. I thought he was the interior backup type.

And what pick will we earn?

A sixth? A seventh?

Insurance is why we failed to trade players that were actually marketable.

So we are clutching these players to our chests for what? The great Super Bowl charge?

A LG is worth over two million in Dallas only.

And because of work completed two seasons ago.

I take a player if I am in charge.

Get me someone who is a strong backup just like he is.

Still hoping we hold onto him, it's one of the few areas on the entire team where we have quality depth.

Let's see:

Back-up OG that won't dress - 2.5m
RB3 that doesn't play STs - 2.1m
Back-up LB with 10 tackles - 1.9m

Back-up QB - who cares??? - 5th year rookie with noodle arm is good

Cap - >$150m. Roster set at 53. Average salary: ~$3m.

You seem a miser of the worst sort that doesn't understand the concept of inflation and wants an extreme rich poor gap. Oh noes they make twice the minimum salary! What a splurge!

Nevermind the contracts of Thornton, Smith, Scandrick and other obvious market steals. Nevermind Carr's paycut. Nevermind Gachkar contributes on teams and plays well when in the game. Let's just pretend that .5% of the cap is huge money in the 2016 NFL because $2m is a lot of money to the layman.

Hoping for a second, would be impressed if we got at least a fourth, anything less is par for the course...

blah, blah ,blah.......wasting money is wasting money

all those guys can be replaced by rookies

lol at calling Thornton a deal........hasn't played a down....TSmith averages 12m and OScan is getting 5m for a slot CB.......not sure how that helps your point

we could have a decent QB2 for the 6m I saved with those 3 non actives

Everyone clamoring for a 3rd round pick does not understand leverage of a trade. teams know we have "disgruntled" player who is rumored to be willing to sit out the season, who will also be UFA next year. Also that we have two guys in front of him that "most" likely will not get injured. The safe bet is try and coax him to "play" or hold out hope someone loses a starter and willing to part with a semi premium pick.

I would say trade for a defensive player, but the Saints D is full of young guys they'll either not trade or completely suck.

We have the leverage....if a team wants a starting level OG they have to pay for it.......worst case we have an expensive back-up, but if he sits we retain his rights and he gets nothing....giving him away doesn't help us at all.....

Guards while coveted are the 1T of the offense. Most teams only wish for 2 of the 3 interior guys on the line to be "good" why because most teams do not "luck" into what Dallas has. There are street FA that could fill in without giving up a premium draft pick4
