2016 - New York Baseball (Yankees-Mets)

He may also be able to play some 1B next season.

I think that between Greg Bird and Tyler Austin, they will have first base covered next year. McCann can certainly provide some spot play there, but I would love to see them get out from under the remaining 34 million on his deal.

Huge difference between Alex and Derek.......and he was hitting a respectable .256

It was the "softest" .256 in baseball that season. His OPS (On base percentage + slugging) was .617 that season. Arod's is .595 this season.

Both are horrible figures.

One is passable for a SS but not a DH....Girardi had no better choices in 2014 than Jeter....plus Jeter is a Yankee Immortal and ARod isn't and either is Girardi...you might be the only Yankees that fan that was upset seeing Jeter off....

If you wanted to continue playing him, then bat him ninth.

And no, Jeter's numbers weren't passable, he was about the 26th rated SS in MLB when it came to OPS... And his defense... well he could cleanly handle balls he could reach but hence that was the problem... The last couple years he had the range of a fire hydrant.

There was a quote from Girardi that he wasn't running Jeter's retirement tour prior to the start of the season, meaning he wasn't giving Jeter any breaks, and then he did exactly that by not only keeping him in the lineup but letting him bat 2nd.

Jeter was a terrific player for a lot of years and it's water over the dam at this point.

Anyway Arod is batting 3rd today... That's a good send off for him.

I still miss Jeter and I can't wait to see ARod gone forever....no comparsion

Updated lolYankees

Mets barely... It's slipping

Yankees have shot... Mets may not

Terry for sure

Terry isn't going anywhere, that would be like trying to fire Garrett
He is entrenched in the Mets organization because they are cheap-o's.......

The Bronx is rebuilding...
It's nearing completion.

Red you make me laugh! LOL!

The Yankees are either winning championships or reloading for championships!

Personally I'm very pleased with the direction they've gone... Wished it was a couple years earlier but so be it.

I'm excited for the team in '17... I think the hitting will be improved. If a couple starters step up it could be a very good season.

This year's FA class is weak except for OFers, which the Yankees do not need (and have a couple they would like to get rid of).

I just as soon not see them sign any FA's who'll cost them a 1st round draft pick.

The team could be exciting to watch (again), which hasn't been the case the last few years.

It's the George Steinbrenner in me... Lol
We need to pepper the baby bombers with some good veterans.

Since 2009 Girardi had kept these teams. While not super exciting they were still running or trying to make runs.

The other team in queens can't do that unless the team in front of them implodes because the coach loses team.

It's not happening with Dusty. Not this year.

Great debuts for Tyler Austin and Aaron Judge this weekend. It will be exciting watching these guys for the rest of the year, as well as Gary Sanchez, who has been terrific.

They need to get Severino squared away, though. He has been very Pineda-like this season - lots of strikeouts (showing good stuff), but lots of big hits allowed as well.

Need Bird back.

DiDi has been great!

Sprinkle a couple of vets in... We are Yankees 1990's version 2.0 :)

I think we can overtake the division.... THIS YEAR!
Who needs wild card!

Ugh - that hurts.

They will definitely need to add pitching this winter. The list of free agent pitchers is pretty brutal, though. Hopefully Severino gets straightened out, and a guy like Dietrich Enns or Jordan Montgomery can make a big leap.

It's a wickedly bad list of free agent pitchers.

You want pitching now-a-days you better be developing it on your own.

They may be able to pick up a young guy by moving Ellsbury or Gardner and paying a good chunk of their salaries.

Eovanoldi gone for the rest of '16 and possibly all of '17...

Heck of an injury.

I knew something was up with him.
Sucks.

We will need to buy an ace or two :)
I'm ready for Gardner and Ellsbury to go but you need vets too.

Yankees
5.5 games out of first
2.6 out of wild card

Mets
9.0 games out of first
2.5 out of wild card

Surging Baby Bombers will overtake the division.
Girardi manager of the year! Again!!

Pretty... Pretty... Pretty... Pretty...
Pretty... Pretty... Pretty... Pretty... Interesting!
