Twitter: Jason Garrett explains Dez Bryant actions

Don't cover for him when you can't even contact him, say what it is.

When you do address it, don't say it is because Dez is emotional he did not do the right thing, say it is unacceptable with the kind of culture we are trying to build here.

Let the team know it is unacceptable, it sure seems like some of the players were a little steamed.

Is this one incident a huge deal we will be talking about 2 weeks from now if the Boys are stringing wins together, no.

But if you are going to preach accountability, walk it.

Adding to my list of ways to hold him accountable:

  • Encourage the media to create a distraction for the team by publicly pointing out that a blue chip player is an emotional child and deserves to be ridiculed in the public eye. The public shaming will motivate him to love this team and play incredibly hard. This is the sort of leader people wish to play for.

So basically tell the public and verbally speak to the situation to the media. Nothing about how the situation should be handled behind closed doors. Because to me, he could tell the public anything. It's about what he says and does behind closed doors.

That face is basically like what an android blue screen of death looks like.

You can't expect accountability from your leadership or teammates. True accountability comes from the media and public opinion.

Yeah, I couldnt believe the part where Garrett said they were only able to contact him indirectly on Monday, dont know about Tuesday. Come on, really? You are getting paid 14 million a year and you wont answer your cell phone for the boss?
That's the accountability factor and if one of your leaders doesn't do it, the last thing you should do is shrug your shoulders and excuse it away due to his passion.

Not much else you can do other than fine the player, but then to make a public apology for him? Not necessary and makes the messages you apparently want the team to live by hollow.

Could have been handled swiftly and curtly to the media.

What would Belichick have done in this case? Talk about how emotional the player was?

They were after Jerry over the size of their cubicles at the Star. And they absolutely do not have that right.
Again, disagree, but what's new with that between us?

They have that right because they've been given it by the owner since he took over the team. Booger has cultivated those media relationships and it's not like it's been a smooth road. He's on his 7th flagship radio station because of past comments made on the other stations.

He has built this feeling of transparency between the team and himself, as the face of the team. The local media sees this as a blindside by giving this information to the SF media first in the weekly phone interview.

Most of the posters here are not media influenced, in fact, media reactive, but that does not represent the vast majority of people. Many let the media do their thinking for them which is why Booger has always sought to control it while other owners eschew it because they recognize the double-edged sword nature of the media.

If other players are upset to the point that they are feeding the media, then I would think they did not think he was being held accountable behind closed doors.

Also I think there is a difference between handling something behind closed doors and Jerry spinning a tale of we are not sure if he needs a MRI when he knew it was BS.

Why shouldn't they have said he has not showed up for his MRI, what harm would it have caused, Dez being pissed, well good. It was going to come out anyway as it has.

Now they just look like they were lying to the press and it looks like some players thought it was not being handled correctly.

I have a bigger problem with players feeding things like this to the media than I do with Dez missing meetings. By a pretty large margin.

EDIT: THey should be held accountable.

I thought Dak's response was perfect and he did it up front.

What would make you people happy?

He was fined? Check

Coach spoke to him? Check

Everyone knows Dez is passionate and immature at times? Check

Coach tells press what happened and some still are not satisfied? Check

I mean seriously? Who gives a crap? It's within the team we have zero to do with it, and they handled it professionally and probably within the rules of the CBA and the team.
