Wow, I have to admit I got a few tears in my eyes.

Romo has been a great player and he is an even better person.

I feel bad for him and hope he has the chance to sign on some where else and play a few more years.

I've been hinting or flat-out saying that he still wants to play. He confirmed that in his statement. I hate proclamations but this is his final year as a player in Dallas. He'll be in another uniform next season.
I wish him well wherever he goes. Again, I hope he goes to a contender.

i love how everyone is talking in absolutes like Romo is retired or something..

Dak can still lose the job. with the way the race for the division is shaping up I don't see Dak having a very long leash

For some Dak can't win. We can't be guaranteed a Super Bowl with either QB, because they're hard to win.

But if we lose a playoff game, it will instantly go to "should have started Romo Dak sucks" despite it being a full calendar year since live action for Romo. I don't believe any QB has been out this long in the season has come back and won the Super Bowl. But can't worry about the haters because they will continue to hate. Dak earned the job, and he gets to show what he can do.

He can't start as a 4th round rookie! <Starts>
He won't win! <Wins>
He hasn't faced a real defense! <Beats the Bengals>
He hasn't faced a real REAL defense on the road! <Beats Green Bay>
He hasn't faced any adversity yet! <Beats Philly in OT>
He can't keep up with a prolific offense! <Comes back to beat Pitt>

How far back are you going to move those goalposts, man?

Never said
Everybody beats the Bengals
Tennessee was up on Green Bay, 28-0. They suck.
Philly held him to 80 yards passing for three quarters before backing off.
Pittsburgh lost five games in a row.

I LOVE Dak, but there's a reason no rookie has ever won a Super Bowl. He's not ready for that. But he can keep handing it off to the league MVP and eat sandwiches in that pocket and show well.

I get your point, but didn't JJ already amke a definitive statement saying that Tony would be the backup this Sunday? Maybe I misread it, but I thought he did.
I would've like something more concrete (like Romo's official statement) but you're right (as WoodysGirl pointed out to me earlier).

This sucks, I like Dak, but Tony gave his body for the Cowboys.

Did this really need to be announced? Why not just keep it internal?
Have a team meeting... Give the boys more flexibility?

I mean now it's just out there, and give's Dak that much more pressure.
Seems' like this is important information... just amateurish strategy if any at all.

Yep, Dak is the future here, but he's the nail in the coffin come playoff time. He's not ready.

Haven't seen anything from him in 9 games to tell me he's not ready. If he can win on the road at Lambeau facing Aaron Rodgers and win on the road in Pittsburgh facing Big Ben, he's ready for the playoffs. I'm not worried about him it's our lack of a pass rush that worries me.

That's really the question right there but I think the odds are in his favor that a contending team will be available. I still say how well that team's offensive line protects will be one of his main criteria.

Cardinals make the most sense for Romo. Everything they accomplished with Palmer, Romo could do easily...and much more. Good defense, good RB, and are guaranteed to play 10 games a season at the minimum indoors (in Glendale) or in good weather (LA/SF).

Or KC or Denver. Those 3 teams give him a decent shot at a Super Bowl.

I hope he gets a ring

Except...he only lasted 3 plays vs Seattle. Lol. I kid I kid.

NE's defense is terrible. Dak would easily lead the offense to enough points to win. It would be up to the defense to get enough stops.

That's the problem. Brady would score 12 touchdowns against these clowns. That game would require Romo magic, if he still has it.
