Please. She's a football fan. She's got her team.

That doesn't preclude her from acting in a fair and impartial manner. The argument that she can't is ignorant. But please, do keep posting ridiculous and sexist tweets that support your claims!

It's a clear conflict of interest. Jurors are dismissed from cases for far less than that all the time. To think that a case wouldn't be damaged by the lead investigator's clear, well-established partiality is more "ignorant" than anything else.

Sure, we don't know all the facts within the uncapped year what we do know is that there was no cap but we were penalized as if there was. Chicago was not. I agree with your point about deflate gate. They deserved the punishment they received they also obstructed the investigation. However I think the Giants use of two way radios was very blatant and ignorance is a very weak excuse. Those radios could legitimately have affected the outcome of the game. They got slapped on the wrist and it never developed into the story it merited.

There supposedly were rules that all teams agreed to abide by in the event of an uncapped year. That was one of the big issues because people called that collusion and unenforceable. My main point is that I have to assume that what Dallas and Wash did was over and above or somehow different than what other teams did. I don't remember all the details but I just don't think any league overtly goes after teams without reason and then ignores the same infractions from other teams. The Giants did get punished and didn't they only use the radios for like 3 or 4 plays? I think the fact that they moved a draft pick down should put this issue to rest. They didn't get off lightly for such a minor infraction.

I really wish we could all just quit with this argument. Does anyone really think Jerry would allow a situation to exist where the owner of a division rival was pulling strings behind the scenes to screw the Cowboys and let the Giants skate on things? It's a ridiculous conspiracy theory that just doesn't hold water. Goodall and Mara would be facing jail time if they were conspiring to commit fraud and collusion against another team. It simply isn't happening.
Let us have our conspiracy theories!!!!!!!!

But the league kind of did. The Raiders used the uncapped year to dump Russell and take a $15MM or more cap hit. Mara and the committee tried to justify that was different than the Skins and Giants using the uncapped year to sign some players. It was a silly argument and some called then NFL out for it.

After Dallas and the Skins lost their arbitration case, which was expected, they had the choice to go through the court system but in doing so, they would open the entire league up to collusion charges because they would essentially be arguing in court that they are being penalized for ignoring something that was agreed upon quietly by owners. So at that point, saving the league from a potentially messy legal ramifications was more important. Plus, as I said earlier, it was rumored Jones got some concessions with regards to his new stadium, etc.

I understand that it looks like the league selectively punished Dallas and Wash but we don't know all the facts. That's why my logic tells me what they did was somehow different and that's why they were punished and other teams were not.

I read this entire thread hoping to learn about the real implications of this regarding Gregory's chances of playing during the playoffs. Instead I got post after post about the Mara conspiracy.

As you said it is perception but there are people who hate Dallas who feels like the Cowboys get all the breaks and that is just as much BS as Cowboy fans thinking the league it out to get them.

With Gregory this is an on going problem dating back to the combines and has continued not because of Mara but because of Gregory and his own actions. I hope it works out for him because I would love to have him playing but whatever happens is due to Gregory himself.

Gregory's own action? Wasn't he in rehab while he was scheduled for a test? So since he was in rehab trying to solve his addiction why did the NFL schedule a test during that time and is now trying to punish him for missing it?

I could understand that he got caught smoking. But for god sakes Gregory was in rehab trying to wean himself from doing drugs.

That doesn't make much sense.

I think his point is that Gregory has put himself into this situation to begin with. I don't think he's talking strictly about the missed test. He's talking about the fact Gregory is even in the protocol to begin with. That's all on him.

I'll just say this, it won't just be Mara throwing a fit if Gregory plays well all post season and a day or two after the super bowl, he's suspended for all of 2017. The league will look bad, so I think this still happens before we play

Sounds like the exact same scenario with Brady being allowed to play in postseason after deflate gate.

Not so fast

Damn. :(

As an aside, the Mara conspiracy posts are fun, a Cowboys' (and league meme)... get over it to y'all that are so upset that we like to point out Mara being the puppeteer for Goodell.

It will never end, and people like myself (and the majority of the Zone) appreciate a good Mara-is-running-the-show post.

Stahp, @AbeBeta and @Cowboys22. Cut it out.

He has a fresh line of arguement to delay due to his agent situation. They may have still required him to come but the nflpa may seek a delay for him.

The difference is, the league had no knowledge or at least any proof of any wrong doings until after the AFC championship game. There's no reason to believe that an investigation and appeals could be conducted in two weeks. We have known for months about Gregory having another suspension pending, so to me, this is not at all the same.
