Report: Texans won’t trade for Tony Romo

This report falls into the "Duh" category. Like I posted yesterday, Denver and Houston wi will just wait it out until he is released. Unless Kansas City swoops in out of nowhere with a trade offer, Romo will be released.

Exactly! He said thank you. It was a head fake IMO to get teams to make room to acquire him. The Texans bit and now they can wait it out for Romo's release. It's a who will blink first scenario but the Cowboys have the advantage.

Any other team would have the advantage. The Cowboys don't because the owner has feelz for Romo. He will release him.

I would keep him then. I'm not giving him up for nothing. Nope. But Jerry is a clown so I know if the hour gets too late he'll fold

Panick in the NFL can also set in...

It could but, at this stage probably not now. Jerry tried to get someone to make a bid on Tony yesterday
and no team bit. My guess, they have read the tea leaves and will just wait Jerry out having
deciphered the "DoRight" rule. Tony will get a new team but, picks for Jerry not so much.

Houston or Denver will eventually crack on their faux "we won't trade for Romo" stance. It's all a posturing game. Neither teams wants to compete with each other in the possibility that Tony gets released.

Just hold tight, Jerry. Your picks will come.

Then hold him. If the Cowboys are willing to make a June 1 designation anyway with Romo, then there is no benefit to cutting him now. So you hold him. Maybe you then cut him right after the draft, etc.

If Denver and Houston are going to wait it out then Romo will still have them as a potential landing spot in the future. So from the perspective of Romo being able to find a good landing spot in the future, that's not going to be an issue.

There is no reason to cut him in the next week or so.

I hope Stephen can convince Jerry to do what's right for the organization. Even if Romo has to wait a while, it's obvious he will still be moved to a desirable team in a trade.

Both are in the same area as far as cap space goes.

Neither team has an advantage. I don't understand why people think they are afraid of competing with the other.

All in all, I don't think Denver is of the mind to be obsessed with acquiring him. The Texans seem more eager, but if there really is no reason to worry about Denver, why would they give up anything?

Everyone clamoring to keep him and not give him up for nothing are the same ones who felt that team chemistry was so important so Romo shouldn't get his job back once healthy last season. If the team chemistry thing is real, then you don't want to have a disgruntled Romo hanging around this off season or season.

No doubt JJ has made a "Do Right" agreement with Romo. However, the football folks (Will and Stephen) are handling this thing now, probably with consideration to Jerry that this will ultimately end good for Romo. The release without compensation isn't happening.

That is not doing "Right By Romo".

Look, he has already posted the farewell video. He cannot be left twisting in the breeze.

There's a real chance Denver is just being honest and don't have real interest.
They were 8-4 with Seimien last year before he hurt his shoulder. They think both he and Lynch will be better.
Haven't known Elway to be a big BSer. He said all along they won't trade for Romo and he falls into the category that look into all options, but not special consideration.

That leaves Houston bidding vs themselves.
They made the playoffs with Savage. They might think a healthy Cutler is lower risk that an often injured Romo....no idea.
But they are not in a hurry.
