Report: Texans won’t trade for Tony Romo

I'm pretty sure kc is serious with not wanting Romo. They have no need really. They'll draft a guy to take Alex's spot and keep doing what they do.

Youre probably right, I think they also have considerable money tied up in Smith.

I hope we fetch something but something tells me he will be released if something isn't done today.

Jerry isn't going to go into next week holding on to him if nobody is offering anything. Just my opinion of course.

The problem I would have, if I were Romo, with either Denver or Houston now would be, "you didn't want to trade for me???".

As long as they pay him the Benjamins and name him the starter, he won't care.

Houston just needs to give up the 3 or 4 and call it a day.

They're instantly a legit threat to the entire nfl with tony. foolish not to give up a 3 or 4 for that.
Exactly my thought. Why not basically make this a three way trade. Flip Dallas the 4th they got in the Cleveland deal. It's found money basically. Unless Jerry thinks he can ransom Tony for higher than a 4th? Which I'm not sure why he would think that considering everyone anticipated a release. A 7th rd pick would be more than most thought we'd be getting a couple of days ago.

What would be nice if Coughlin convinced the Jags into going after Romo. They could be a contender with him, at least in the division. Plus they could pay him more then anyone.
How about the Browns? They just built the 2nd best Oline in football and seem to be keen on doing other teams favors nowadays.

Release, Mr. Romo. No.

Belichick held onto Drew Bledsoe until April 21st (the week of the 2002 draft) before trading him to Buffalo -- Pats received a first round pick in the 2003 draft.

QB-deprived teams will panic given a 1) weak and below-average QB draft class that will cause a delay in developing a quality NFL starter, and 2) a poor NFL free-agent QB class.
Coaches on the hot seat (O'Brien in Houston) and/or teams who are impatient and believe that the only missing piece is a quality veteran QB (Denver) will eventually cave.

Jerry, don't blink.

Oh, and you have just what insider information to back up your 'claims?'

Isn't it quite obvious that Jerry made a call yesterday to a reporter and tried to stir up some media generated interest. Lots of media
this morning think they were duped yesterday afternoon. Tony's message stated that he's good as gone but, no reference to where
he might go. Today is a new day and maybe things will clear up this afternoon.

:laugh:And then take Houston's division crown from them

No, that isn't obvious as a refractured history. Good night...as a day or two hold isn't about to touch the potential of a future dealing for Tony Romo.

Lot of chips are still on the table.

That's certainly what it looks like. It's also possible Houston called and offered a lowball pick knowing they were getting rid of Osweiler. Then Jerry got greedy and called Mort to try and stir up a bidding contest and is now left without.

Both are in the same area as far as cap space goes.

Neither team has an advantage. I don't understand why people think they are afraid of competing with the other.

All in all, I don't think Denver is of the mind to be obsessed with acquiring him. The Texans seem more eager, but if there really is no reason to worry about Denver, why would they give up anything?

If Denver wants a chance at winning the Super Bowl next season, they want Tony Romo. Period.

And they don't want to compete with another team because they want to ensure that they are able to sign him. That's pretty simple. I'd ship a 5th to the Cowboys in exchange for knowing I'd have Romo's services in 2017.

If you're competing with another team for Romo, and lose out, you're stuck with who? Tom Savage? Siemien? Jay Cutler?

Play the long game. The longer this goes the more it hurts Houston. They need to start implementing Romo into their offense and the longer it takes the harder it will be. We got all the power right now.

I have absolutely no problem if Jerry holds onto Tony for a few days and I'm pretty sure that Tony doesn't either. At some point soon,
the "DoRight" rule will come into effect and the situation will be settled.

And when exactly was this after action report finalized?

Time for Jerry and Cowboy fans to give up on the dream of getting something for Romo, at his age, injuries and contract, nobody is trading for him, cut him loose and move on!

What you say is valid speculation. Could have happened just that way. It Houston or Denver really want Tony they can have him inside
3 hours I bet. We'll see soon!
