I like waiting on general audience reviews over the paid critics' reviews generally but I'm glad some of the critics I know and more often-than-not respect have favorable reviews of the film.
I agree, it's just gonna be nice to be able to say I like WW and not have too many people argue against it like with MoS and BvS.

Movie is currently sitting at 97% critics rating on RT. I might be a happier person if I didn't believe that was some shady pandering BS, but I witnessed first hand how narratives get twisted by Hollyweird after Fembusters. This movie might be really good, and Gal Gadot may have learned to act since Criminal or Triple 9, but I doubt it and that score is ridiculous.

How did you like her portrayal of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Her face time wasn't extensive but she was able to establish a good foundation for both characters really well.

No. Her Olympian strength is stronger than Hercules but it does not come close to equalling Kryptonian strength. That's not a slight against her character. She's fiercely super-strong. I bet she could trade blows with The Hulk for a short time before his gamma-augmented anger would surpass her strength levels.

I'm waiting to see if DC/Warner Bros. de-powers her somewhat more from her levels in the books. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has already (seemingly) shown her absence of flight when she was seen attempting to fly out of Metropolis on a commercial jet. That ticked me off a bit and the teasers showing her scale a high wall (cliff face maybe..?) hasn't improved my mood. Hopefully, her other Olympian powers will stay true onscreen.

Watch video.

Invisible jet will be.

She was fine, considering what was going on around her with Jessie Eisenberg and "Martha" it was decent, her accent was a little strong at times but she looked great during the final battle.

At the beginning of the video, the interviewer/host talks with Gadot and Chris Pine about the "crazy elements of the Wonder Woman comics" and mentions the invisible plane and the giant kangaroo. Gadot and Pine joke about it at length--especially about the kangaroo. THEN the video later cuts to Jenkins. The way... Jenkins says 'The invisible jet is very important and ultimately we have to have the invisible jet" sounds more like a continuation of the previous satire and less like an affirmation. Just my opinion.

Affirmative. Exactly.
That's why I sent you the 411.

You had me a little concerned when you said, "Invisible plane will be." I assumed you meant Jenkins will incorporate the vehicle into the movie or a future movie. That could happen. I hope not but Jenkins didn't sound that serious when she spoke about it.

Wow... I heard it very differently.

I have to listen again.
I thought she was saying it definitely will be in future WW movie.

And I quote.... seems serious with no sarcasm...

"The invisible jet is very important... and ultimately we have to have the invisible jet... it's a big part of wonder woman"

We disagree. I could be completely wrong but it sounded as if Jenkins was dryly sarcastic about the jet.

If it does become true, it will be another mark against DC and Warner Bros in regards of continuity in my opinion. Continuity is an important part of the comics industry--or it is with Marvel at least. For example, Marvel's original Guardians of the Galaxy was made up of characters like Yondu, Major Victory, Charlie 27, etc. back in the 60's and 70's. Marvel rebooted the title years later with the characters you see in the current movies. They could have easily retreated to the earlier group, which would've been a totally different look than present. I considered that a good decision on Marvel and Disney's part (no matter how fond I was of the original group :p ).

DC retired the invisible jet in the mid-80's after publishing it's classic Crisis Of Infinite Earths story arc. Wonder Woman gained the power of flight at that time. Ten years later, DC and Warner Bros emphasized her flight ability in the two animated Justice League series. Wonder Woman has flown in a number of DC animated movies. DC doubled down when the company rebooted her character earlier this decade when the Greek god Hermes granted her the power of flight.

So. DC and Warner Bros, along with Jenkins, may end up wiping out 30+ years of Diana flying. Nice. For a totally antiquated plane with controls no one can see. That's not going to sit well with me but it'll be my problem.

I don't see any sarcasm.

But...
Hmmmm.... I see your point.
As I've said I defer to you on this. If she should fly... then I'm good with that.

If they do an invisible plane... Maybe it will be a really cool plane where she sits in a forward facing down position (like Bale when he moved out of seated position into facing forward/down position to fire his batmobile blaster)

Or maybe it makes what she is wearing invisible too. :D

8.0 of 10.0

Her story was finally told on the big screen. That was very satisfying. Warner Bros/DC did what they should have done a long long LONG time ago.

The movie's first half pacing, while sound, was more subdued than I thought it could have been. On one hand, Diana's origin, with one noticeable exception, is plainly and thoroughly told. Moviegoers see her grow from an isolated sheltered princess, to discovering her powerful place in the greater world.

On the other hand, Diana's transition to the greater world is slightly superficially done. Because of that, the movie's pulse doesn't quicken for me until the trench warfare scene and the movie takes off from there. Gal Gadot is truly the star of the film. Everyone else, including Chris Pine, give solid but not really exceptional performances. The "obvious" villains aren't truly deep in character but that's probably intentional on Patty Jenkins' part.

Loved her fight scenes but wished they had given her a bit more combat. I think Jenkins was shooting for a similar feel for Captain America's Howling Commandos with WW's group but their camaraderie isn't as genuine on-screen. In my opinion, she and Trevor could have taken on the Germans by themselves better and the movie wouldn't have skipped a beat. Of course, that would have negated the purpose of The Photo altogether. :p

A very good movie that's not a great one in my opinion. It really reminds me of Batman Begins in its feel. Don't know if there is a The Dark Knight type movie in Wonder Woman's future but a sequel can be better than the original.

Completely agree with your assessment. This first installment intentionally served it's purpose to introduce us to Diana and makes us want to see her many future adventures. A good not great movie.

It's hard asking for something like this without phrasing it as a spoiler :D but I'm waiting for your opinion about her flying ability after both the final fight and epilogue (just before the ending credits roll) scenes. For me, there's still no hard confirmation. If anything, I think anyone would be well-pressed claiming that her jumping ability isn't EXTREMELY impressive. :p
