until i ate at a restaurant in rowland heights, i refuse to eat chinese in LA...
Lol, our Chinese restaurants down here have fajitas, tacos, brisket etc. I don't think it's very authentic. You probably went to the wrong places, too. You have to know China Town/K Town.
That's ******* awesome!!! Lmao!!!Lol, our Chinese restaurants down here have fajitas, tacos, brisket etc. I don't think it's very authentic.

I also eat a lot in Rowland/Hacienda Heights. Chinatown is more authentic, the former are more accessible.
My best friend, Chris, is married to a Vietnamese girl. We used to go to RH/HH all the time. Mostly for dim sum.

i only like cantonese (dimsum is cantonese as u probably know).
i eat dimsum about twice a year - it is ok but would not kill for it.
for family obligations, i have had cantonese in many restaurants in chinatown, alhambara etc.
i dont care for it.
one restaurants in Rowland Heights was decent so i would go back to that one.
i am pretty picky about chinese, i only eat in 1-2 chinese restaurants in SF...
i used to go to Macau twice a year to eat (2007-2011), those were the good times...
actually did not care for the food in Hong Kong... and was taken to many fancy places that were no good...

But ramen is my ultimate Japanese dish. But with broth as thick as they can make it (traditional). Many times you have to ask.
@Ranching
You must try Thai. It is the king of Asian cuisine.
Never mind all this that Waldo and I are talking about. You will absolutely love it.

No, I get most of my Japanese food from Lil Tokyo (they serve the best in SoCal) and Culver City.have u had fancy shabu at the honda? plaza in Jtown?
that is the closet i have had to something from tokyo
i am so-so with ramen.

Yes, I've had fancy shabu, but it isn't the same as traditional.
I don't care for fancy Asian restaurants. I do fancy for Italian/middle eastern/American/Peruvian/Jamaican (just because there's an amazing spot right down the street from me.
Asian cuisine is always better from the smaller spots (from my experience).
The lone exception being sushi. Sushi I generally eat at nicer spots.
Oh yeah, I eat almost exclusively at fine Indian restaurants. We have some very famous Indian spots nearby, where they attract celebrities from all over.have u been to sushi gen and the shabu restaurant next to it?
love peruvian, indian, fancy greek also

Blech!
Pigeon is not rare in the US. People hunt wild pigeon all the time.we had a german-american vip from the army visit in SF once and he ate pigeon
he was gracious enough to say "tell me what i ate after dinner"
same with another vip from north dakota...
